Does anyone know if I could fit a 1660 super in a 9020 help me please and thank you.
Just waiting your 800 mill sub to roll in bc you the best
Hi I have a dell optiplex with a i7 3770 and 8gb of ram and no upgrades what would be the best graphics card that would work for this pc?
Hey what software do you use for your desktop visuals?
@RA Visuals can any rtx cars work I have an dell optiplex 9020 with a i7 4790
Btw I’m not bothered by bottleneck but will it
"At least, in my case." One of the most genius unintended puns I have ever witnessed.
I’ll take it!
Hey! Thanks for the shoutout! That video took forever to make. Glad to know people found it useful.
Hey man! no problem at all! Love what you do on your channel, keep it coming dude!
Man this video is great, thank you so much! Answered all the questions I had. Liked and subbed, keep it up!
Thanks so much man! Appreciate you!
content is legit top notch, really underrated
Thank you so much man!
You really deserve more subs, I see all the effort you're putting in. Keep it up my man
Working on it! I'll get there someday!
Love your build‼️. Clean work 👍 I did something g similar recently. Check it out Dell Optiplex to Gaming PC Build!
@AngeryBoi hey man, this video was made before the huge GPU problem. Those are going for double the price now, unfortunately 🙄
Subbed, sorry I'm late 😉🤣
Thanks man, the perfect video I have been lookin for since the last time I messaged you
Glad I could help!
this video helped alot since im still using one of these as a second pc. subbed 🙏
Glad I could help!
Thanx RAV for the Dell Optiplex Budget fix tips..Have a couple i use as workstations for Video editing..with your video here it just blows my mind at options one has to upgrade ..Lovin the Info & tips, thats why i Subcribed & liked !!
Glad to help! Thanks for the kind words, Henry!
Quiksilver to the Moon, "Eddie would Go!" lol 🤟Thanks mate, this is still awesome in 22'
This video truly helped me out. I have the 9020 with and i5 and i was so confused on what kind of gpu to get. You helped ke out alot bro thank you. I also subbed!!!
Glad I could help! Glad you got it figured out!
@@RAVisuals im still kinda lost bro. If i want the best card without upgrading PSU what card should i got with in my optiplex 9020?
@YashvirGaming#0388 thank you bro i appreciate that
Clearly explained and loved the video, I was previously Wondering to change the psu but now, you have also shown that a sata to six pin adapter can also be used , thank you so much again for the informative video
No worries at all! Glad you found it helpful.
Hi, did you use an adapter? Did it go well?
This was sooooo helpful!! Tysm, man!
Glad it helped!
This has been is highly useful, I'm looking forward to get ready to get into digital art & design, involving 3d, with videography. And i figured why not try sticking gaming PC to help update my pc; well, after getting my dell, it is a yr old, i still found out that i was still needing GPU and some rams added in. So this is was highly great, for everything needed towards gaming, can be used in digital art & design; this was beautiful and luckily i have the same tower.
great to see man!
Gaming-plex - best way it is!
7010 is still top of my list, had i7-3770, 16GB DDR3, 500W PSU (with no adapters or special connectors), 512GB SSD + 2TB HDD and 1660s... sold long time ago.
Great video, keep up the great work
I appreciate it!
I've got a Dell Optiplex 7050 w/ Stock 240watt power supply. RX 6600, PowerColor Fighter works with 8 pin adapter. Draws less than 1650 Super at Idle. Almost Identical at Load. Haven't seen it over 100 wts in anything I've done. It worked for me.
20k LETS GO MAN!!!!!
You just earned a subscriber 🙏
Welcome to the Visuals FAM!
Thanks for this info for the 9010 Optiplex computers, RA. I am planning on switching to PC from xbox sometime this year or next, but need a decent graphics card to play games like Apex or the next-gen Tomb Raider games.
the optiplexs are definitely a great way to get into pc gaming without shelling out a ton of cash! I hope it goes well!
Just found a 9020 in a dumpster so these tips are gonna be really useful. Cheers!
lucky!!
Thank you for actually showing off the optiplex. I have a 9020MT and I'm also upgrading mine.
Hi, did you use the stock psu with an adapter?
@@aldodelac.4080 I did on mine. I'm running the stock psu with a 6 pin nvidia quadro k4000. No power issues yet.
@@Bass42894 Oh, but that one only draws 80W max I think, I'm planing to use a r7 260x, with a max of 120W, but I don't know if a sata to 6-pin pcie will do fine, because the sata power cables are too thin, even though in the video he says that it's fine
as a first time builder this information is priceless. I am saving up for the 9020, in my country PC experts take advantage and everything even old computers are expensive. It will take me all year to Buy the 9020 and a Graphics card as well. I have been using an old acer laptop since 2014 and I have no idea that I can build something playable. I've never owned a console or a pc thats able to play games. this will be the first time I experience a game in 1080p. the game I want to play is genshin impact/ I have been playing on my laptop but its Haswell i5 3rd gen. Intel HD4000. I've been playing on Low setting all my life. Even Half life 2.... I am actually a little nervous but it's time I try.
Its really great that these systems can provide you with a way to get into more PC gaming! There's quite a few types of system out there similar to this but it really just depends on what youre looking to do!
Man, finally someone made this video. Thanks
It's tough in the streets to find a GPU at a reasonable price but I managed to find a rx 470 and a gtx 1060 for $220. The plan is to put them in my 2 Dell T1700. Hopefully I don't have to upgrade the psu's
I believe those systems come with upgraded PSUs so they can accommodate higher wattage cards! I think they have the 365w unit in them so you should be good!
290 so let's hope so
@@papabeartx Hi did you upgrade your psu for gtx1060?
@@momoscans no the stock 290 works fine. I just used a Molex adapter to run more power to the graphics card and unhooked the cable going to the CD drive
Thanks so much homie!
great video man fat like oo i see the back to the further wallpaper i have those to
haha gotta rep back to the future man!
Amazing job Bro keep it up
Thanks, will do!
I custom built and still only use my Dell OptiPlex 9020MT with a 650Watt 80+Gold energy star PSU, 32Gb.Ram, running I7 4790 Haswell 75Watt CPU with recent upgrade to a 2TB SSD and now running a GTX 1650S Mini GPU single fan with Windows 10 pro and using MSI Afterburn only to adjust fan speed to keep it cooler. Great setup very happy!!!
Great video! Does the evga 1650 super ultra gaming fit the optiplex 3020 without blocking sata ports or the backplate blocking the ram slots. Thanks again for the great content
Lmk how that went for ya. Ik the 1050ti is just plug and play
i have the shapphire rx 570 the small version and i works really well and it fits for all the ones u said in this vid
I got a 3020 mt a while back but GPU prices in my country are completely unreasonable. I settled for a gt 730 2GB GDDR5 for the time being as I hope that prices will come down and I can get a 1060 or 1050 ti. It's runs on an i5 4460, 8GB ddr3 1600Mhz sdram but there is room for upgrade to an i7 and 16gb ram in future.
nice one bro thanks for the infos.
Great vid thanks for the help
No problem! Thanks for watching.
Nice video. Very imformative.
I am currently transforming my 9020 with the i7 4770. Ordered an RX 580 8GB alongside a PSU upgrade and the 24 to 8 pin adapter.
I won't be using it long as I ordered an R5 3600, new mobo and ram but wanted to know if the 24 to 8 pin adapter will have any effect on the power output. Should I account for it and opt for a higher power PSU? At the moment I ordered a Corsair 500W.
Bob Huskenson so if you’re planning on using an rx580, you’ll need to upgrade the power supply for sure! The 290w isn’t enough for how much power that draws.
Great channel, great content. I have a question about Dell 9020 mini tower and I can't find a definite answer nowhere. Can I put an SSD and two 3.5 hard drives into it? There are 4 sata ports available and one is occupied by optical drives right? Hope you can help and keep doing a great job.
Only if you're not looking to do a gpu upgrade that requires the sata to pcie power adapters. I think you'd have enough if you ditched the disk drive
Thanks for the help!
New GTX 1650 with GDDR6 like the Gigabyte Eagle only needs a 300w PSU and 6-pin connection. Only uses 85w, and boosts over 2000Mhz with a light OC. I have it on a H67 board with an i7-3770s. Can play almost any title easy
Dell's newer computers ship with a 500W supply when you add a 1650S/1660S to them.
I transplanted 9010 sff to a normal sized case.
I used an OEM Dell 1650S + (they use 6 pin power, search "Dell" "GDDR6" "oem" if you want the Dell version, it's the smallest 1650 super I know of, even smaller Zotac.) 4.5" wide from PCIe tab to the outside facing edge of the card, slightly under 6.5" in length, and slightly under 2.25" height wise heatsink + board thickness.
Dell's card has 1 HDMI port 1 Displayport 1 DVI, I notice some 1650/1660 model only have Displayport and HDMI. EVGA cards bum me out because they rarely support more than one monitor, I have a 1660 TI but Zotac's was cheaper and had more ports at launch, so you could have 4 monitors plugged in at once.
i7-3770 (no k), and everything ran really well at 1080, GTA V everything on ultra, and on Cyberpunk I was getting 36-48 fps when I had everything on high except shadow/ao/sss set to medium, I wasn't expecting that.
There are Lenovo/Foxconn versions of the 1650S too if you can't find the Dell models, and some of Dell's models only use slot power, but I'm not sure how many watts your PCIe 16x slot needs to support for one of those, I just bought the 6 pin version to be safe.
There are also Dell 1050 oem cards, those only use slot power.
Earned a sub! Question. Could I just remove everything and place it in a new case? Will the motherboard screw in to other cases?
Yes you can. Its a bit tricky though because of some proprietary connections but i've seen people do it
I just installed a Sapphire RX 580 8gb card into my Dell Optiplex 7010 mt. I took the XFX RX 570 8gb from it and put it in my Dell Optiplex 790
mt. Needless to say, both were a pain in the butt to put in either case. The Sapphire fit length works, but I had to unplug the usb 3.0 cable from the mb. And then plug it back in. I also had to use 90 degree SATA cables. The RX 570 required me having to cut down the fan housing so as to fit length wise. In conclusion: go with the NVidia gtx 1650S or 1660S for upgrade builds on the Dell Optiplexes. However, being the AMD fanboy that I am: Visiontek makes a 4gb and 8gb rx 5500xt that will easily fit. The HP AMD RX 580 omen 4gb will fit nicely as well.
I would love to try the 5500xt in these but I dont have one!
thanks for the guide.
*David Milk Gaming* lol, subbed for that funny name XD
Hey man love the video, easy to follow. Can i ask i know im late but im planning to get a 9020 8gb i5 4th gen and i want to upgrade it so i can game and stream, can i put a gtx 1660? Upgrade to 16gb ram and psu?would this work? If not which gpu would be best?
the 1660 will work! I actually have a video on that as well!
Very Helpful!
Glad I could help!
Got another question can I put a PH-GTX1060-3G into my Optiplex 3020 with a 290w power supply or would I need a power supply with more watts?
commenting right now on my optiplex that YOU convinced me to buy i also put a gtx 1060 6gb on it
Are you loving it?
How's the performance?
???
Awesome video. Do you have gpu suggestion video for a Dell OptiPlex 9020 MT i7-4770 3.4GHz 8GB RAM 250GB SSD Win10 Pro?
Answer is on your other comment!
can do a video for the dell Optiplex 7040 using a Cosair SF750 PSU, and the Zotac Geforce RTX 3060 Twin Edge OC and whatever adpater that is needed please
Needs the equivalent i7 CPU upgrade - just to give a bit more headroom - great video though. Awesome content.
Mark Hyde I plan on testing this as well!
What i7 cpu would you recomend ?
@@Ryan-J 4770, 4770k, 4790, or 4790k imo.

@@yourdailybread8611 got mines from amazon.. 600w evga psu
Honestly, you could put these into any cheap ATX case and make it work. All depends on budget and what look you want
Wow I'm just reading my novels with sound effects and graphics. Streamlabs is using 40-70% without a graphics card. I got the 9020.
What would you recommend (from these cards) for playing Star Citizen?
The strongest one you can get for that game haha so the 1060 6g or 1660
So for the 580 in optiplex what kind of power supply would you recommend? I have no clue where look for them or for what kinds lol
Hello, really enjoy most of your content. I have a Dell Optiplex 3020 tower with 16gb of ram and a 250gb SSD HD. I would like to add another SSD. What are my options? Can you do a video about adding a second ssd hd to a 3020.

How is your dell optiplex 3020 doing in 2022 gaming
hey RA! , I know im 3 years late....but i wanna ask is using that adapter really safe cus that part really mess me up and plus lot other people is not recommend it. Rn in 2023 (im a highschool student btw) Im planning on doing 100% what u do in this video and Im just gonna upgrade it in the future...hope u see my comment even in 2023 from this video...
the particular offer im planning to get is a 9020 with i5 4670 3.00Ghz and 8gb ram and it's roughly 150 bucks. im thinking of getting it and putting in a gtx 960 (4gb one preferrably) but idk if it'll perfecty fit in (compability) nor am i entirely sure if the price for the pc is a good deal.
I'm doing the exact same thing. I went for the 3020 with the i5-4570 instead. For the GTX960, especially if you have a blower style gpu, you'll need to remove the hdd cage since it's pretty long (it's fairly easy, just use a drill). The price (150) for that pc does seem like a good deal though! I'd snag it. I got my 3020 off Ebay for a similar price.
What brand card do you use for the 1650 super? Also what was the model and processor of the optiplex?
It was an EVGA card that I used and I used an optiplex 3020 with an i5-4590
@@RAVisuals cool! I got the aero gtx 1650 super and an 9020 optiplex in the mail. Think it will still fit together? The card is supposed to be smaller
Hey RA Visuals, i know im kinda late but i really want to buy a cheap gpu for my DELL 3010 and i want to ask if a gtx 1050 ti would actually work, and if not could u recommend some? I would love an answer from you!
Hey which one is the best for a dell optiplex 9020 keep up the good work 👍
Depends on your use! But the RX580 or GTX 1660 pretty much max them out.
@@RAVisuals do you need a psu upgrade with this?
in the middle of an optiplex mod right now. got rid of all stock kit though and ripped out the drive bay, nice coat of black paint inside then rgb. its getting a ryzen/1080ti system in there
You're using the stock OptiPlex chassis for it?
@@RAVisuals yeah, the internals are going in another case. luckily the optiplex board was standard layout besides stuff like power button so went straight in a new case
First I want to say, I liked and subbed.
I have a Dell OptiPlex 9020- i5-4690 4-core. right now I have no graphics card in and I can run games but the lag is so bad and everything is just not good picture. What graphics card do you recommend for me, a beginner in gaming. I just want to be able to play with no lag & decent picture.
A great starter card that you can easily find used almost anywhere would be a gtx 1060 3gig model. They still do great in games and fit very easily into an optiplex with a simple adapter for power.
Thanks bro
New subscriber here. Really appreciate. Just want to make sure. Stock PSU 290 watt can handle GTX 1060 6GB withhout any problem right? Cause i'm gonna buy it next month and i don't want to upgrade my stock power supply.
@YashvirGaming#0388 Really appreciate your suggestion. 👍
how to check smps watt capacity(like 450 watts or 750watts) in optiplex 9010 without opening cabinet...
Sorry im only 2:46 in and had a question is all the testing done with the normal power supply? And what I mean by that is the 290w One?
Im confused too.Stock psu didn't even have pcie.Using sata to 6 pin is dangerous
I got an optiplex 9010 and i'm planning to buy the gtx 1650 do i need to upgrade my psu?
Great video btw
Yes
Is the power supply change necessary for the optiplex to become a gaming pc? Is it possible just to get a graphics card that is low profile? Just wondering lol
To the best of my knowledge, it's not always necessary. What's important is to know the minimum system requirements, including power (pay attention to Watts AND Amps) for the card you intend to buy. I found this out the hard way, buying a GPU that requires a minimum of 300W and 20A, while my 3010's power supply only provides 275W and 12A. It never occurred to me to check beforehand. 🙄🙄🙄
hey i know this video is a little old but i have the 3020 optiplex and i got a rx560. what does the RX560 rank compared to the GPU you recommend in this video? I was going to get a new pc but if i can upgrade mine to an even higher potential, then i would rather do that. i would appreciate your help...just subbed btw.
Im sorry i didnt get to the amd section of the video at the time i made the comment. My RX560 looks bigger then the one you show..it isn't plug and play. it needs to be plugged in from the side . still looking for an upgrade if possible
if that RX 560 can fit in the case, you'd just need to use a PCI-E adapter and you'd be fine! Thank you for checking my channel out and subbing, man!
Hi mate, does the 1060 need an updated psu. Do you recommend a psu upgrade? Which psu suits a optiplex 9020 i7. Cheers.
a 1060 will not need a PSU upgrade! the 3 or 6gb version both work without upgrading anything if your system has the 275w-290w unit. If you have the 9020, you're good to go.
@@RAVisuals had a rethink, I'm gonna go with a 1650 super, which I think needs a psu upgrade. I've been looking for a thermaltake 500w smart series or an evga 500w without luck in Australia or Amazon, can you recommend any other Psu I can use. I have a 9020 with i7 4770 mt. Cheers.
Thank you for the good informativ video. I changed the power supply of my dell 3020 into a 730w from be quiet, I used the same adapter. My hope was I can put in my R9 390 and turn it on. But nothing turns on, no lights no fans...when I take out the graphics card and use the stock powersupply the lights turn on. So the Mainboard works...the new powersupply also works in another computer. What could be the problem?
check all of your connections as 99% of the time, something isnt plugged in correctly or all the way. if not, the optiplex may have an issue with the r9 390. ive personally never tested it
@@RAVisuals
Wow, thank you for replying so fast!
The gpu can't be the problem, since I can't start the pc without it eighter.
All the cables are plugged in correctly, sine, if I change the power supply, everything works. All I have to change when dealing the PSU are the data kabels to the front panel and hdd.
It seem as if the Optiplex has a problem with my psu.
Great details.
I have Optiplex 790 with i7 2600 , 16Gb RAM and Nvidia GTX 650.
Planning to upgrade to Nvidia GTX 1660Ti along with 500Watt PSU.
What do you think?
So the only thing I’d be worries about is bottlenecking that cpu with the 1660ti. Honestly the 1660 is really the furthest you’d want to go with a newer i5/i7 so you may see some loss in performance because of that.
@@RAVisuals
I will look to that option to upgrade the CPU , if feasible .But currently I am focusing on the GPU card because I watched couple of videos discussing the performance of i7 2600 with recent games, what do you think?
@@theogbullseye Thank you alot for suggestion.
Hello, well done on the video very informative. I appreciate all the work you put into it.
I’m not very savvy with upgrades on a PC but I’m looking to get a graphics card for my sons computer so he could do some gaming and video editing. I have a Dell Optiplex 3020 MT 256 GB SSD i7-4770s.
My question is, which graphics card would I have to get that would be plug n play? I don’t want to have to upgrade anything else on the PC if I don’t have to. A budget card that would play games and do 1080p 30fps video editing.
Sorry for the long question but I would really appreciate your feedback about a card.
Thank you for your time brother ~Eric
Plug and play would be something like the 1050ti or the 1650 LP because it doesnt require any external power!
@@RAVisuals Thank you, I appreciate that👍
Will GTX 1050 Ti work on a OVHWTR motherboard? Thanks in advance.
What is the best replacement case to use for Optiplex 980 and 9010? Im using GPU RX 580 or GTX 1060 6g.
honestly there are a ton out there. Just need one that will accept the adapters if you're using them
I am getting a i7 4770, 16gb of ram, 240 SSD, wifi and windows 10 pro. What grapchics card should i put into it and what power supply?
Hi will the msi gaming x gtx 1650 super (no backplate) fit in the optiplex 3020 with the hard drive cage removed or will the sata power be in the way?
Should fit just fine! Probably don't have to remove the hdd cage either
Thanks for this video. I recently purchased a 9020 for 75 bucks, with an i7 4770 CPU. The plan is to upgrade it for office and studio (Presonus) work, and occasional gaming (I'm thinking of having a go at Skyrim). I had been looking at AMD GPUs, particularly the RX 580, but if, as you've so clearly shown, I'll need to both upgrade the power AND modify the case, then I'd definitely be better off budget-wise to go with one of the NVIDIA cards. If I don't need to upgrade the PSU, then I can afford to pay a bit more for the GPU. Add to that the cost of 32G of RAM and a good SSD, and I should have a good all-rounder for about 300 dollars. 👍👍👍😏😏😏
Just one question, are the cards you recommended all PCIe 3.0 x16? 🤔🤔🤔
Thanks for the reply brother I was 99% but kept seeing people telling me I couldn't cha get the power supply in the 7020
I'm using a 3020, so which one would you recommend for playing A Hat in Time?
I used the 3020 in the video so my numbers should be similar to what you’d get
can you upgrade it to any power supply?
also, is a 305-watt power supply enough for the 1070?
yes but you'll need different connectors for other power supplies. No, the 1070 needs a psu upgrade for sure
Hi. Would the GTX1063 and GTX1050ti be good for games up until maybe 2012?
All my PC games are older. From the 90s and early 2000s. My newest game is from 2010.
A 1050ti can run God of war 2018. You’re good bro
Just got into thinking of going pc master race with a smile budget for now will the 1050 ti fit in the optiflex 9010 just great? And will the psu need a upgrade?
nope! most 1050ti's will fit just fine and you don't need a psu upgrade either!

Which GPU should I use in 3020. I need a bit cheap too. What would you suggest ?
depending on the cpu, a gtx 1060 seems like a good choice or even the never 1650 or 1660
What adapter would I need to install a GTX 1660 super for Dell OptiPlex 7020 SFF? Don't worry about the case size I have a workaround for that
Probably just a sata to 6 pin adapter. I have them listed in the description 👍
Premium quality video
Thank you!! 🙌
I have optiplex 7020 sff i3 4150.
Which gpu should I pair with it.
I can modify psu and cabinet.
Does the msi gtx 1650 super gaming X fit in my Dell optiplex 3020 mt whitout blocking the sata ports or ram sticks?
thanks to this video i can go ahead and look for amd gpu since nvidia cards are 50 to 100 dollars more expensive
Hello how easy would it be to add one to the 3020 and which one for a cheap budget should I buy?
not too hard! a 1050ti would be very easy!
@@RAVisuals what about a gt 1030
So now that a year has passed which GPU would you put in the 3020?? I'm currently building one
Rx 550 4gb version 110$ eBay free shipping
I'll have a video out on this soon!
wil rx 550 saphire pulse work? and be good for its price (found a €50 build)
I removed the hard drive cage bought an adapter that lets you mount multiple hard drives in the disc drive slot put them there and then fitted a full size 1060 6gb
the optiplex had an ssd added in already when I got it
I upgraded the ram from 8gb to 16gb fun fact I learned with this 1600mhz is the max speed consider that when buying ram cause I bought 1866mhz and I can't fully utilize its speed
I also chose to upgrade the power supply as I didn't feel safe running the pc on 290w alone
added a full size 1060 6gb (which is why I removed the hard drive cage so it fit went full size cause its what I already had)
very nice! I'm sure its a great gaming PC now!
@@RAVisuals I mainly use it as a minecraft server now lol but yeah it can game I just have a better pc for that now
What about an op tipped with an i7, will a 1660 ti bottleneck?
thank you so much
got a 9010 for $90 on ebay and a rx480 for $160 from a guy off marketplace. It was working this week and I took the gpu out to reapply thermal paste. Now my budget build wont boot. Amber flashing codes say my motherboard went bad. Ordered a new one off ebay for $55. Hopefully it fixes my problem. Also tested my PSU with amultimeter and that seems to work no problem.
dang! sorry to hear that man. silver lining is that you were able to find the parts you needed at least!
I just can't believe the change in pricing and availability since this was made. GTX 1650 Super is $350 on Amazon currently, I mean holy shitballs.
seriously though....unreal
Hey I have dell 9020 mt and was wondering if I can use a msi gtx 1060 6gb with 8 pin power connector?
will an asus 1050 ti one fan work with the optiplex 7020?
Hello, I have an optiplex 990 with an gtx 645, recently i bought an gtx 1660 super but i get no signal, does the problem come from the adapter being 8pin to molex? Should using a sata adapter solve my problem?
Awesome video. I was wondering if you can answer one question for me I have A 9020 I7 4770 With 16 gigs ram and a 240SSD. What GPU would you recommend For best performance without overkill. I don't mind upgrade the PSU But I don't want to buy a car that is too expensive for this system. Hope you can help me out thank you
From my testing with a similar system, I would suggest a GTX 970 4g, GTX 1060 6g, or a GTX 1660. If you want to go AMD an RX 570 would work great with a PSU upgrade too.
@@RAVisuals thank you. Very much appropriated. Time to start hunting for a good deal.
Hey is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 good for the Dell optiplex 9020 i7-4600
This card would be too much for these systems. Might be better for the newer dell systems
