I was only a teenager when this song hit the charts and I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. Jennifer is the original and will always be! No one can even come close to it.
Jennifer Rush owns The Power of Love. Around 1985, the first time I heard a recording of her singing this song I was in a club in Canada and I asked every one around me who was this voice and what was the name of this song. I had to "rush" back to the States to bye her album but I couldn't find it any where??? It took about a year to find and buy it. I just about wore that album out. If Jennifer Rush's The Power of Love would have made to the States back the 80's it would have blown the charts away. No way Celine even comes close to Rush!!!
Honesty speaking I have been listening to 'the power of love' over the years by the lovely and great singer Celine until recently when I bumped into the Jennifer's version on UA-cam. The first time I couldn't hold the tears, it was undoubtedly and uncontrollably flowing through my chin. I felt greater passion, emotion, charisma and earthy-like voice radiating from this legend. I indeed enjoy it each and every time I play it. God bless this wonderful woman and a rare gem.
I'm not quite sure but I think also Jennifer Rush had an opera singer education! Her voice is the best I ever heard in popular music! Just listen to her duet with Placido Domingo. What other female singer could have done this without falling short? Simply love Jennifer's voice!

I love Jennifer Rush! Congratulations for this fantastic video. Your analysis is masterly. Jennifer Rush is probably the best female voice I´ve ever heard. The way it sounds to me is very clear and compact at the same time. With a little and very elegant dark/baroque touch, inmediately followed by an infinite wave of warmth, majesty and style. About Celine Dion, I must say that I´m not a big fan of hers, but I completely respect her (I get goosebumps when I listen to "My heart will go on"). It´s her song. Just like "The power of love" is Jennifer´s song. It became a massive hit in 1985 in Europe and other parts of the world. For sure one of the anthems of the decade. Why people in the USA were "deprived" of her voice is something I don´t really know. Jennifer has also other super songs. Actually I think I started to know her with "Ring of ice" (I was 7 or 8).For me her first album is spectacular (if you like 80s), but I also love the second and the third... Some of her fans specially love "Heart over mind" (her third album. 1987). I think (as many fans do) that Jennifer was underrated and should´ve gained more popularity and recognition, but it´s also true that someway she managed to sell millions of albums throughout her career and become an icon thanks to her voice and her unmistakable style, which used to be very 80s and very elegant at once. With a predominance of the black colour combined with other colours. One more time, congatulations for this video!
Jennyfer Rush de todas maneras la prefiero es una voz más modulada, Celyn a pesar de cantar bien se excede demasiado a veces me suena a estar gritando forzada, jennyfer es incomparable la amo
I live in Europe and i firstly knew Jennifer's version right from back then, i also have all her albums on vinyl too! Celine did a nice performance with this cover, but Jennifer performance is unique in every sense, infact all of her songs are on Top of my list because of that! 😍
Jennifer was so famous in Norway in the 80s. her version is the absolute best, and have melted so many boys at weekends. This song blew a lot of speakers on dances and discotecs back then. The music in the 80s was about the music and not sexualized liek many today is. i grew up the 80s and i would go back anytime. was best time of all.
Hey, my friend. I am so sorry. You are so wrong.....! Someone doesn't want it to be seen/heard coz it will drawf Celine Dion and Jennifer .....!
Her voice is so out of this world that her singing pop music is like a formula 1 car going on the highway. In this song her talent can shine. Glad that her opera singer father told her that someone in the family needs to make the money so she will be a pop singer.🙏
I was a young teenage lad here in the UK when I first heard Jennifer sing this simply beautiful song, it remained No 1 for five weeks and ignited my love for love power ballads, I knew that Dax was going to love it too, I was waiting for the shocked look, I didn't have to wait too long 😁.
@@daxmusix I am pretty sure Dax will like the new RING OF ICE REMIX too. RING OF ICE was big hit in south africa and did well in UK in EUROPE on all radio stations during the 80s. Now its in a new dress back and it debuted on position 111 in Euripe music.
Jennifer's version is telling you that she is always there for you (very near and connecting). Celine's version is asking you to come back to her (lost at a distance). I heard Jennifer's version in 1984, and have never forgot Jennifer since then. I really do not know where she went. We, here in Malaysia mainly listened to songs popular in America until internet opens up the world to us. I am never bore with Jennifer's version. I do not know why. I am 78 yr old now.
I loved both, but I heard Jennifer's first back in the 80s, and loved this better! And I can't believe you have never heard this till now! I took homage on Celine doing it, as Jennifer wrote and sang this so well!
I did not know Celine Dion did this song, too. Jennifer Rush was for sure the version I heard often, every radio station played it millions of times. Today it is in my playlist, I love the voice of Jennifer Rush, in my opinion it is more powerful.
Like you, I “missed” Jennifer in her prime-in fact, I only discovered her 2 months ago. I am a big fan of Celine and only discovered Jennifer because I came across Celine’s cover of POL including Jennifer. I couldn’t believe my ears. I’m 84 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Connie Francis, Lauren Branagh, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle. But, Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. And she sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian. She has written or co-written the lyrics and music for many of her songs, done duets with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Elton John, and Brian May-sorry-Sir Brian May-and performed live all over the world-but not in America, except in March and April 1986 on the Carson show and the Dick Clark Show; that’s it. Yes. If Jennifer had decided to live her life in the US, she would still be in Las Vegas or on tour. It would be great if you reacted to 3 more of my favorites: “Who Wants to Live Forever?”, “Hero of a Fool”, and “Stronghold”.
Jennifer Rush is totally Divine in this case, man. Love her voice to the very heart of my personal own. 😮🎉🎉🎉🎉 Millions likes to our forgotten Jennifer. Very nice and beautiful, lady, btw.. 🎉
I first heard Jennifer’s version when it first came out, so it’s the only version for me. It brings me to tears every time, no matter how many times I hear it. No other version comes close, or ever will. It became part of my play list in the car, and I can’t count how many times I just put it on repeat at full volume. Beautiful, just beautiful.
These are both impressive vocal performances. I first heard Power of Love by Laura Branigan, so that will always be favorite. Such a powerful, evocative rendition by Laura
Love your honest reactions to Jennifer Rush's "Power of Love". I had these range of thoughts and emotions going through me when I 'discovered' her accidentally. Thank You. As I know, there aren't many singers nowadays in the 21st century who could match her.
Through the years I have heard "The Power of Love" both in English and Spanish sung by different artists and to me no one nails this song like Jennifer Rush. She also sings it in Spanish.
For anyone who has a minimum of musical ear, it is quite easy to distinguish the soprano (Jennifer Rush) from the other singer (Céline Dion). And it's unfortunate that Jennifer Rush doesn't get all the credit she do deserves for composing this song just like Lori Lieberman who is the original songwriter/composer who recorded ''Killing Me Softly''
I can remember when I first heard this song and I was blown away. 1985. She was so obviously different from any peer singers. It was so obvious she was from a different genre. Operatic trained and it was like a breath of fresh air. Bobsmackin. I’ve always thought I was odd to appreciate her talent. Amazing delivery and voice. Celine must regret trying to emulate this song.
Celine's voice sounds so strained here. Jennifer's voice is just fantastic because she achieves her goal without effort! Thank you for this reaction. You're just right.
this reaction was spot on to my own when I first heard this as a kid, and brings back a lot of memories seeing her interviews in the 80s.. everyone I knew had a crush on her, and I mean everybody...she was the most charming, kind-hearted and humble soul you could ever meet, stunningly beautiful, with that powerful operatic mezzo-soprano voice that was so different from everyone else. it was also her voice that brought me to opera as a teenager, and I never looked back since. also her outfits were awesome back then..she had that typical 80s leathery biker bad-girl style going on, yet was at the same time elegant and classy without being overly sexualized or suggestive (like madonna or many others). she just had "pure class" written all over her. its very wholesome to see people appreaciating her talent 40 years later, and to not let her fade into obscurity. wherever you are jen I hope you are healthy, happy, and doing well...thank you for all the wonderful memories.
I listen to Jennifer sing this time and time. I too get the chills and emotional. I'm an old man now, my wife passed away in 1999, never remarried but miss the love that I had. This beautiful song reminds me of all that. Glad I'm old couldn't take another 24 years feeling this way.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful assessment of both amazing singers. Yes also it's Jennifer's version that takes my breath away and never getting tired of listening. Greatest Love Song ever ❤. James J Walsh in Limerick city Ireland 🇮🇪

I have loved Celine's voice since I heard "I'm Alive" from the Stuart Little movie, and this song brings out all the twangy goodness I love about her voice; it's sharp yet deep, textured yet soothingly smooth at times. Now with Jennifer, this song was my introduction to her and...yeah I'm in love with all of her songs so far.
I was only a teenager when this song hit the charts and I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. Jennifer is the original and will always be! No one can even come close to it.

This is your point of view.. when Jennifer was there, Celine wasn't there at all
I am canadian as is celine and her version is fabulous but I heard jennifers version years before and I love hers the most.
Jennifer's voice is way more soulful
So was Laura's version.
I felt the same way as the commentator.. I never heard of her before and it brought tears to my eyes and her movements were so moving.. loved her
You will have to go to heaven to see or hear a performance that beats this one. Jennifer is the whole package, totally unmatched.
The background of this is absolutely amazing. I can feel my heart in sync with the beat drum rhythm and strings that echo her vibrato is amazing. Those string ground this whole piece to her voice like cement. Amazing .
Jennifer Rush's version is the only remembered version of this song here in germany. She was a star here back in the days! Watch Destiny from her, it's unbelievable.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Not really. I love Celine's Version more

There is only one power of love, and that is Jennifer Rush. No one else comes close.
Totally, totally AGREE.
🙏👍💯❤️💙💜
Jennyfer Rush de todas maneras la prefiero es una voz más modulada, Celyn a pesar de cantar bien se excede demasiado a veces me suena a estar gritando forzada, jennyfer es incomparable la amo
It’s helps you sleep at night
I think absolutely the same.
I live in Europe and i firstly knew Jennifer's version right from back then, i also have all her albums on vinyl too! Celine did a nice performance with this cover, but Jennifer performance is unique in every sense, infact all of her songs are on Top of my list because of that! 😍
Thank you for your warm, empathetic take on this song. It was a pleasure to have both versions analyzed. ❤❤💯💯🥰🥰
There is absolutely no comparison. Jennifer owns this song! She is a trained artist, magnificent.
Jennifer draws you in. And her voice in the lower register is so rich and expressive.
Laura Branigan, Power Of Love LIVE Siempre En Domingo 1987, is the best. ua-cam.com/video/ZvGWZm34Ct8/v-deo.html
She has another one singing in front of thousands of audiences but is no longer available in ytube coz violation of a patent owner's rights. Someone doesn't want it to be seen/heard coz it will drawf Celine Dion and Jennifer .....!
Magnifique Jennifer quel merveilleux souvenir. Merciiii
I'm an 80's chicken for sure 😁 the only thing different is that I don't have big hair held up by the power of Aquanet 😅 🙃
No, you did not have to wait long, Anthony! 😉
This is amazing voice Jennifer Rush hands down love it love it
I did not know Celine Dion did this song, too.
It would be great if you reacted to 3 more of my favorites: “Who
Wants to Live Forever?”, “Hero of a Fool”, and “Stronghold”.
Jennifer Rush is totally Divine in this case, man.
Love her voice to the very heart of my personal own. 😮🎉🎉🎉🎉
Millions likes to our forgotten Jennifer. Very nice and beautiful, lady, btw.. 🎉
Jenifer's version is the original it should be the standard...she sings perfectly..full power..control...emotion....i love both.
Jennifer has the feeling that can’t be felt by any other. Love it
That's cause she was heartbroken over her boyfriend..she co wrote this song
These are both impressive vocal performances. I first heard Power of Love by Laura Branigan, so that will always be favorite. Such a powerful, evocative rendition by Laura
I’ve watched hundreds of song reactions, maybe more, but yours is the most spot on I’ve come across! Thanks for posting this!
Guy's impressions totally matched mine.
Thanks much, Frank!
Love your honest reactions to Jennifer Rush's "Power of Love". I had these range of thoughts and emotions going through me when I 'discovered' her accidentally. Thank You. As I know, there aren't many singers nowadays in the 21st century who could match her.
No one has that range🫠
Full Power Of Love From Jennifer Rush 👍 Goosebumps ...
Its a strange feeling, because how much i like Celine Dion, J.Rush’s version is soooo much more of everything.
Wow, of course Jennifer Rush. Voice from heaven. Forever great J.R 😍😍😍
Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer...and then all others
Jennifer Rush sounds full and solid. Its like , when you listen to it, youve experienced a full artistry beauty.
*_Jennifer definitely has a voice of an angel in this song. All genes of every body are strongly emotionally affected. Incredibly beautiful voice._*
Jennifer rush the better of all time, she show more feelings and power in her voice
Maybe not regret...but in her heart she KNOWS Jennifer's performance will never be topped.
As a Canadian I ,love Celine, but this song belongs to Jennifer
❤❤
Jennifer 10, Celine 7. I love Celine Dione, she sang this really well, but Jennifer nailed it
Right voting..
Jennifer has 3 Ranges better .
I think too
No one in the world could beat her range👍💯👍
Jennifer wrote this song - just amazing
Hey I just noticed a link to this video on my comment over on the Jennifer Rush official video and had to check it. Couldn't agree more with you here. I got goosebumps watching you get goosebumps, Jennifers original just hits so hard!
Whilst they are still good, I just don't get those same spine tingling feelings with the covers by Celine or Laura Branigan. The original for me is just perfection
Thank you, Trance. Yes, Jennifer’s voice has such an emotional richness to it that the others don’t have. Thanks for coming over.
@@daxmusix do you know that Jennifer Rush brought after years this month a very new song out? Dominic Ghanbar feat Jennifer Rush. CLOSER. you can buy it from Amazon and listen in full on Spotify . Can you do a reaction video? will be great. thank you
@@daxmusix cek VANNY VABIOLA from INDONESIA. Pasti Anda akan terkagum mendengar suara lebih tinggi, lembut, cengkok nada merinding. lebih tinggi dari celine dan jeniffer.
Glad you enjoyed Ms. Rush's original. I grew up with Jennifer's version, which was popular all around the world, including Taiwan, except in her motherland ironically. Celine is probably technically impeccable, but I prefer Jennifer's tone in this song. Just a matter of personal taste. Also, i think this was lip-synching to the studio version, which was done more often back in the day.
I think I was more affected by this song than any song I have ever heard…Jennifer, her singing and this song are love personified
Jennifer is just Beautiful
She’s a god!
I found her three days ago. Cannot believe that in my 81 years of life I had not heard of this magnificently gifted woman. You are right-on with your insights. I fell in love with her and her aura the first time I heard her sing this song.
Yes. This is her song solely. Well maybe others can do well with it but agreed, Jennifer is off the charts with this.
Jennifer's has soul, gives me goose bumps. I connect to this original version in a big way!
The power of the original, no comparison.
Oh shit, first time hearing this version from Jennifer Rush. Good lord, I’m in shock. I was convinced before this video that nobody could top Celine but…crap it’s a tie
Jennifer is the benchmark for female singers - it's on the level of the Righteous Brother's Unchained Melody.... These two hit PEAK perfection in singing.
Jennifer Rush was so beautiful in this video
The emotion on Jennifers face is amazing. Goosebumps!
I am like you. I just heard about Jennifer yesterday after my wife told me about her. Now, after seeing the comparison, there is no doubt that Jennifer nailed it. What more can I say.
And not to forget she is singing this live and it’s as near to perfect as I’ve ever heard
It’s the vulnerability and the awesomeness of surrendering to love that really comes forward in Jennifer’s version. She speaks to the heart.
well said,
You analyzed very well. ❤ I felt every emotion you felt. Thanks for posting.
Jennifer Rush the most awesome song. I love her albums
