Built as a farm in 1776, the building soon become a coaching inn. The Jamaica Inn sits halfway between the towns of Bodmin and Launceston.
It was made famous by Daphne du Maurier’s best selling novel of the same name and the 1939 movie adaptation by Alfred Hitchcock.
Ghosts have been witnessed in the pub since 1911, with reports of unexplained sounds of horses; voices speaking in old Cornish and a spirit know as Jack, sitting by the fire waiting for an ale.
Nowadays you can visit the Jamaica Inn for a meal and a pint; stay in one of their haunted rooms or explore the museum attached.

Fantastic old Pub 👍 Great shots 👌
It’s well worth a visit. I would have got more from the front but didn’t want to disturb the customers eating their lunch.
Great video. Looks an awesome place.
Thank you Simon. It is a great pub, easily accessible from the A30 on the way into Cornwall
Just to correct your information, as your video is awesome. We are slowly correcting the history. Jamaica Inn was built in 1776 as a farm, but within a few years, became a staging post to change horses.
Thank you for the correction. I’ll edit the information in my description. 👍
Nice Video my Friend👍 Like
Thank you. ☺️ I couldn’t quite get the angles I wanted as there were lots of people eating outside the pub.
Maybe a meal and pint but sleep in the car 😅😅 nice flight 👏🎥👍
🤣 definitely. Thank you for your comment. 👍
Great shots of the old place, I've been there a couple of times and once when it was really dull and damp I saw an apparition coming towards me, then I realised it was only my ex wife returning from the toilets.
🤣 that’s brilliant 🤣
