After discovering the ark is a fake, the team kills a Prior (Greg Anderson).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The irrepressible Stargate team faces their biggest challenge yet as they set out in search of the ancient artifact with the power to defeat the villainous Ori before they launch a devastating attack on planet Earth. The Ori are determined to exterminate all traces of mankind, but not if Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), Teals (Christopher Judge), Vala (Claudia Black), Sam (Amanda Tapping), and Cam (Ben Browder) have anything to say about it. With a scheming I.O. operative aboard the Odyssey, the final fight for humanity begins to unfold in the deepest reaches of outer space. Beau Bridges co-stars.

Thank the Ori that I have this on DVD. So every time the annoying UA-cam algorithm leads me to a clip of this movie and I get the urge to watch it again, I can.

Why did they reveal their only weapon against the priors? They never did say what happened to the other troops
I suppose to further discredit the Ori. Their invincible half angel has just been disarmed and killed by the use of a plastic box with lights. That's gonna shake their faith quite a bit.

Just watched this movie, very often camera work was out of focus, really surprising for a high quality production, they had camears that were wildly off focus and things like main actors face up close were foggy and plants in the background were sharp. Spotted maybe 10 of these mistakes.
These movies were just to wrap up the SG-1 stories and they had a minimal budget to make them. It's no wonder corners were cut.

Just because you can neutralize their power temporarily wouldn’t necessarily mean they aren’t godlike and just because Merlin’s truth rays of light convinces people not to believe in the Ori doesn’t make it the truth

@@davincent98 I personally haven't had experience but I think Vala being burned alive by him and then Daniel and vala nearly died, at his command would be hard to forget

My disappointment about this movie was that I had expected this prior to see the truth in the end, and I had expected doci to die.
I disagree - Doci's repentance at the truth was the defining moment in the movie. Have Mercy. I Was Blind, But Now I See.
But that Prior was the one that burned Vala to cinders and enjoyed inflicting pain on others, so that the truth wouldn't even matter to him nor would any chance at redemption since he sadism was more important

The excuse is that unlike real world religions, the ori's powers is real in Stargate universe, the priors really saw and were being given real powers that most people couldn't comprehend. In the face of such powers people would bend over even when being told to be cruel to others.
@@tobynwabu Can you imagine to wake up from a dream in which your word killed and tortured hundreds if not thousands of people, while your body was mutilated and transformed into a biological Kondensator, powered by some non-corporeal super magic? A Prior may be fixed by some therapy, but the Doci is done. In the end, death might be the only salvation to cope with decades of being an unwillingly, holy murder-hobo.

If the Prior was so powerful why did he throw aside his staff?
Because he couldn't use it due to the anti-prior device.
The staff has no power of its own, the Priors do. They use the staves to channel and amplify their powers, but since SG-1 had used the concealed anti-Prior device, he couldn't use them. In the field generated by the device, a Prior is just an ordinary human with a stick. That's why he threw it away and grabbed a the staff weapon.

@@zroutube Given the end of the movie (and the build up during season 10 of the show), it's it explained that the staff is sort of a "psychic link" to all other Priors and the Ori/Adrea? The Priors do have some limited power, but only while it's being gifted through the staff. The Anti-Prior device creates a dampening field around the area, blocking that "psychic link".
It's why are the end, when the Ark is opened and viewed only by the Head Prior, it's transferred through the staffs to each Prior and those followers who the Prior has converted.
