A Level Chemistry Revision (Year 13) "The Structure of Benzene"

In this video, we look at the structure of the aromatic compound benzene. First we explore Kekulé's proposed structure and the four lines of evidence that this structure is incorrect. These are the lack of reactivity with bromine, the bond lengths, the enthalpy change of hydrogenation and the lack of isomers. We then look at the delocalised model for the structure of benzene which scientists now consider to be correct.

Hi Shaun,
firstly thank you so much for your dedication in helping the population gain access to such digestible and rich education. I'm currently in my final year of my Alevels and have been using your videos to guide myself since my Gcses. They got me all 9s and that was during the pandemic so it goes to show how priceless your videos are.
There is no need for me to go into much detail but during my As level I had a health crisis which left me unable to leave my bed or stay awake for more than a few hours for months. Now my health has stabilised but there is much work to be done.
I would just like to let you know how endlessly helpful it would be if you were to manage to cover the majority of the Chemistry , Biology or even Physics Alevel content this year, and to thank you for all you have done already on behalf of a generation.

Hi and thanks for the comment. You need to watch all the videos apart from any that have just OCR or Edexcel as those apply only to those exam boards.
