I honestly think that Maru has the most raw talent of any SC2 player ever (including Serral)... But he is like the super-smart student that slacks off so doesn't make valedictorian.
Talent means nothing when your heart is no longer in it. He's won too much already that he doesn't care enough anymore. Like if there was a huge event, maybe then he can fight for it.
Everyone's talking about Maru slumping in performance, but I just want to give shout-out to DRG who is looking mighty scary. He deserved these wins. WP!
It seems like the fourth race has kidnapped the real Maru. This Maru must be an imposter. JK a side, Maru seems like he is about to give up on Starcraft 2.
This happened before Maru having his all-time great Bo2 with Serral in WTL, so I wouldnt worry about Maru if he was going to play more like against Serral moving forward. But yeah, he was playing pretty awful in this match against DRG with so many mis-micro and lack of control.
In WTL this season, hes 17-1, only lost 1 MAP to Serral. I think hes still capable of high level performance, but it just seems that his preparation in some tournament is not very good, or if he even prepare for the tournament at all.
@@ZC.Andrew Nah, Maru biggest issue is Serral and maybe Reynor and herO. His TvT is still top tier against other Terran. Losing one match to Oliveira or Clem doesnt make Maru weak in TvT.
@@ZC.Andrew Thats why he need somebody to tell him otherwise and give the confidence back. His TvT is still the best in the world as long as he has a clear head for it.
So I did the survey, I really don't think it's target group is vod goblins like myself. The majority of the questions didn't apply for me nor my non existent streaming experience.
The winrate for TvZ is in favor of the terran though, if only by 1%. PvZ is worse with a 5% lead for Zerg, and PvT being the worst with 10% lead for Terran. I'd be very careful about throwing rocks as a Terran right now 😛@@RealFableFox
The win rate is not based around pros so it's really irrelevant. Zerg is the best race to play if you have the right micro for it. Clem is the only terran i believe that's capable of taking down a pro zerg@@ChristianSandviknes
Idiotic comment considering we are talking about pros. Go look at which race has won the most high level tournaments in the last 4 years. I'll give you a hint, its zerg.@@ChristianSandviknes
So before I watch this about a year and a half ago I promised I would never watch another DRG match again, this is because 100% of his games he gets ahead in early game then bullishly stays on lings and roaches until he inevitably gets out teched and smacked around late game. This happens EVERY SINGLE MATCH without fail. If I renounce my vow and spend 10 min watching this and it happens again so help me God
I wonder if Maru being the biggest GSL player of all time made hi..m lose a sense of purpose and now is struggling to find motivation to practice... I sure hope not!
It does seems like so, if you watch some of the GSL interview, he was more excited to cheer for Byun winning a GSL than himself winning another one. In Gamers8, he had a great group stage, but then just fell off in TvT against Clem by making lots of mistakes and being very predictable. He played against Clem like he would play against Ryung/Keen, without any extra caution or scouting. Then he crushed Clem 3-0 in the next tournament they play with some adjustment, so its just wild.
I mostly just try to cast a selection of the closest or most surprising results, as well as getting a decent mix of all 3 races. Will keep my eye out for more ZvP and any good mirrors that pop up
This was very disappointing from maru, 3 times bad spawn and 3 time wall off at the natural with the add-ons outside... twice this was a problem, let's do it a 3rd time?..
What separates Maru from Serral is that Serral plays a race that has been given the benefit of balance patches for the last 4 years. Meanwhile Maru wins 4 GSLs back to back and can be the sole reason why Terran gets nerfed
@@rat2244 now im just a watcher of the game recently, not a player, brought back by nostalgia, but i heard in one of lowko's casts that Zerg got nerfed because of Serral, not sure when or if that is valid...but still kinda sad to see as there are others that use Terran well, esp people bashing Terran for not having the widow mines nerfed or something
@@ExpertUA-camCommentator Dude, Zergs were winning EVERYTHING back when Serral was collecting all those trophies. Go watch the old Brood Lord/Infestor late game. Pretty much impossible to beat with either of the other two races. That also happened to be Serral's go-to.
To be honest, I rather him get smashed in a small online tournament, so he can build himself up again and get more successful in the bigger offline tournament. Yes Serral is more consistent for sure, but its also about showing up at the biggest moment. Lets hope Maru can get over this slump and start moving forward.
Serral has his periods of subpar performance too. In fact he has had entire years where he has slumped, only to come back and annihilate everyone the next year. It happens to every pro player. Likewise, this will not be the end of Maru's era either. Hell, in World Team League 2023 Summer Code S, only 3 months prior to this, he won every map (losing once to Serral), which is a 17-1 record for that tournament. I think Maru is fine.

This version of maru is so sad to see. Really hope he gets out of this slump.
he'll be back in no time, super keen to see what he brings to Atlanta
I don't understand what's going on with Maru. His micro/speed seems to still be there, but his decision making is just REALLY off.
Nice game ! Love those Zergs better than Serral's.
I know for sure now... Maru must have a girlfriend
LOL!!
We need to talk about what the hell happened to Maru, he feels like he doesn't want to play sc2 anymore

Bof maru il comprends rien je trouve ..
C’est pas celui de d’habitude
Maru is still one of the better Terrans in Korea. Even though 2017 was a long time ago, it’s still fun to see him playing.
Even though its Maru, let me guess without looking, zerg wins?
Is this real Maru???
Great content as usual, but I feel like your channel is mostly ZvT and TvP these days. The other matchups seem kinda under represented :/

He was on a good streak for a while, winning two more GSL's. It was only after winning that last one where he started playing so badly.
