I thought you might like a look at this very unique 1960 Imperial Crown sedan. It's powered by the original 413 Wedge V8, kicking out a factory rated 350HP and 470 Lb-Ft of torque. All that power is being sent through a 727 torqueflite automatic, that is controlled by a push button shifter. It's a really cool car, that still had some 50's feel to it...like the massive rear fins, tons of chrome, and the awesome taillights. Inside, you'll find a truly unique interior as well, with an unusual shaped steering wheel and huge gauges. This car also has all the modern creature comforts, like power windows, power seat, air conditioning, etc. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for watching!

I'm almost 60, and I remember when cars like this cruised the roads. My Dad had a '62 Plymouth, 4 door with two tone paint job. These were huge cars, but we didn't really notice how big they were at the time. I guess because all the cars were big. I do remember how heavy the doors felt and how thick the steel was that made up the cars body. If you hit the fenders with your head it would likely crack your skull open. Looking back these cars were monsters.

Memories… My grandfather had that exact car and paid cash for it. I still have the receipt. They added little extras, like undercoating and it had two speakers for the radio. If I remember correctly it had an FM radio, although I may be incorrect.
That is a magnificent automobile.
My brother had the exact car back in the early 60s. It was a one owner trade in at our Chrysler dealer. His had the silver grey cloth interior with swivel bucket seats. Beautiful car!
In 1960 tailfins were still *very* big, down just a tad from 1959. They still had a few years of life left in them. 1964 was when Imperial went to the slab-sided look. Cadillac dropped their tailfins in 1965.

They are Beautiful cars- I have one just like it! I love the power and the advanced features it had back in 1960. Mine has Autopilot, automatic headlight dimmers, power wing windows, front and rear A/C, foot controlled radio tuner.
The only thing I see that is weird is the Raised-up gun style hood emblem. These didn't come out until 1962. They came with the chrome down the hood with the "bird" in the very front of the hood. Other than that, it looks awesome!
Chrysler had stunning cars I have to admit.
Restore?? That cars all original. It would be a shame to touch it.

What an special car , the chrome detailing is incredible ! - it's huge but the proportions are great with that long hood and the fins at the rear .

Well, Contrast this with what you are forced to buy today i the luxury car field...ok, let's say you want to show up for a first date with a girl you really like..would you want to arrive in this...or what passes for luxury today. You want a 57 to say 64 Imperial or a lexus glorified jelly bean.

I'll add to those voices that would say that this car is too nice an original to need restoration at this point. You'd have to be aiming for winning class at a Concours d'Elegance to bother.

Have you seen my pristine '97 Chrysler LHS on my channel? Also unusual styling as Chrysler is known for.
I worked for a Chrysler dealership when the LHS came out. Those are very nice, smooth driving cars.

I had one of these back in 1968. It had damage to the right front fender and bought it for only $60. Was going to pull the engine for a project but ended up driving it for a year or so before selling it. It was real comfortable when taking my girlfriend to the drive in.

Those late 50s early 60s Chrysler products were sure different designs weren't they? That front seat looks like different people designed the right and left sides. This is a nice example though. I'm sure it could get out of its own way pretty quick. Is that '63 Galaxie in the background one that you've reviewed before?
I don't believe I've looked at that Galaxie before...maybe on a future visit. My son really likes that car.

Nice. But the 1961s were prettier...and for some reason as they were going out of style...the 1961 Imperials had bigger fins than the 1960 models. The 1962 Imperials were reduced fins....but the target taillights were moved way back on the deck lid giving the 1962s Imperials a very cool and fresh look. I also liked the 1958 and 59 Imperial for their heavier grill treatments. The 1960 had an awkward V shape to the front numbers that from a design point didn't quite work. In short, to me, most Imperial years were attractive....but the styling on the 1960 Imperial models was not as pretty, as eye catching or successful from an aesthetic point of view as most of the other years. 1960 was my least favorite Imperial year. Still a nice survivor though.

These cars from the 40-60s are stupid beautiful but if you ever get rear-ended the car's done, it's a massive pain in the ass trying to find that obscure headlight surround, finding what you need is literally impossible in some cases or just ridiculously expensive..
That is true, repairing crash damage can be pretty pricey.
Back in 1960, when even doctors smoked, driver would have to reach across his body with left hand to give lighter to passenger who wanted to light up. That gets old fast. especially if the car is in motion. Otherwise, seems like a nice comfy Sunday ride
Was the 'Crown' the cheap version, with LeBaron being the better one? 'Crown' sounds like what you'd stick on something economical, in an apologetic kind of way - like 'Coronet' Magazine, and 'Royal Ambassadors' social club for economically-challenged boys. Generally, whenever they stuck knights or crowns or kings or queens on something, it was for people of limited means and aspirations. Or was there a step down from 'Crown'?
