That’s actually just how MBV chose to upload the songs from this album in an effort to sway folks into buying the record digitally. Clever if you ask me
MBV had no right to come out with something this exceptional after such a long gap since Loveless. This is as good as anything they've done and that's saying something.
I love how people are just casually commenting about this song throughout 10 years of time. Music truly unites the people transcending the time and space
bruhh that *crunchy* fuzz guitar that comes in at 1:28 is so good the way it sounds like it's crackling and deteriorating when it hits some chords is just so satisfying
The tears are streaming down my face....This is the sound of timelessness and pure genius..Long time to wait, but 20 years has disappeared. So happy now....
I love that the guitar melody here makes reappearances throughout the album. I wasn't sure about M.B.V. at first listen but a few listens later and it's mind blowing!
I actually hear it more in "In Another Way" but not every time I listen to it. Like most of their work how I hear it really depends what I'm listening to it on. It does this cool thing where there are 2 layers. There is a background sound that is the melody and then this guitar in the forefront that sort of plays the rhythm. I could swear I hear a second or two of it in other places too but its gone so fast I'm never sure if it's actually there or not.
I always have the most intense urge to share mbv's songs with people I know so I can share the appreciation I have for their music with someone else. Except I know that no one close to me would really get it, so I never do :/
I do love y'all. I really do. I've never felt real love for a band. There's bands that are my favorite but I don't love them like I do y'all. Your sound makes me smile and remember future things that even haven't happened yet. Shits transcending. I hope you never stop making music, Kev.

MBV is one of the best albums ever, it's another monolith from MBV. Easily my 2nd favorite album from them. If the new album ever comes out I bet it'll sound a lot like this album but maybe even expanded more. These labyrinth like chords that wander around and around and keep changing are incredible. This album is a whole nother beast then Loveless, and I can't wait to hear what he has coming next.

Can't believe I'm saying it...but this IS their masterpiece! That is until they release their next album in another 15 years or so, then we'll all be just as addicted to it.
This song feels like trying to grip onto reality but your slowly falling out of it. I also love how so many people have different meanings to this song but in the end everyone loves it. 💕
1:29 - 1:56 is my favorite part of the song, how does he do it? I know that carpet pull at the end of that sequence is a beautifully timed compressor/gate of sorts, and if you EQ the song just right you can hear the original tone side chain doing it's usual droning and then it just stops, and there's basically no sound. It throws you off because the pull is usually filled with the feedback and squeeks from the chain. Almost sounds like an old train hitting the breaks. But that's just my little observation of a measure in a MBV track.
Blown away by how awesome this album is. It keeps getting better and this song in particular has been rattling around in my brain on repeat. Amazing!!!
This is one of the ALBUMS OF MY LIFE. Although its quality is inquestionable, it has more to do with the moment it was released, the way it became the soundtrack of every little nothing I'd do for months, etc. Memories. Crazy good ones.
It was tough but I finally realized that this is my favorite track from My Bloody Valentine. Like, ever. And one of the 5 most awesome tracks I've ever listened to.
I love chill music like this cuz you can just fall in it and let it take you away for a while. I'll listen to this stoned or sober and I'll still love it.
that subtle space in between a few of the changes is h e a v y. saw them play this once and the way Shields held back on the beat with the line that starts at 3:30 was amazing... felt like the whole song was slowly being opened into something.
Bloody brilliant. If this one were a commercial single, from my perspective it would have been the quite expected cover letter of their returning Forever MBV.
"Into the light, the world come back to" "into your heart, it's the only you"... "only tomorrow, the love comes easy"... "what should i do? In this lonely world"... ... "want you to hear, it's the only way"... "want you to hear, it is all i want"... "only tomorrow, the love comes easy"... "what should i do, it's the only way"
I totally agree...that'z the real test of a tune I really love and that'z timeless - if I can listen over and over and never get tired of it. This and "She Found Now" pass that test a millionfold.
Beautiful, absolutely genius. I am speechless. The guitars sound so divine and love the drums. It's actually better than I possibly hoped for. Thank you Kevin Shields and co. You have made me very happy. Giving me chills...
Fue también mi favorita pero ahora que volví a escuchar el disco después de mucho tiempo de no hacerlo, me parece que "If I am" es la nueva consentida de mi alma. =)
this is the essential mbv, and the best song on the album. no need to listen to any other song, really...this is exactly what they are about..those chord progressions with the perfect touches of distortion...a band who doesn't release an album in 22 years just tours now and then and headlines festivals, and continues to influence generations of musicians....epic in my book.

@@MegaThefuture Yep I think the same since this came out.
Kevin's ridiculous perfectionism payed off
Completely agree. I like this one just as much as Loveless.
This guitar tone so good you wanna drown in it
It's my favourite thing about the song
Kevin Shields is the Michael Jordan of guitar tone.
It's all about 1:29 - I can't say I've ever heard a guitar tone that's about to break apart from the sheer distortion. Sublime!
i feel sorry for the whammy bars on kevin shields guitars.they are so abused lol

My favorite part of the song

yes.
Quite possibly the most perfect song I have ever heard

This is not human. Can't be. You are gods of sound and melody.
“The vocals are mixed so low” They’re mixed fine, you’re not listening loud enough.
indeed. whoever said that just doesn't understand the shoegaze spirit.
I have yet to find a way of listening to this loud enough
not listening l o u d enough lol
they’re mixed pretty high compared to the stuff on loveless
Who said that? Or you just making up artificial questions you can give pre-determined answers to?
Love the ascending "oooohs." a) they're dreamy AF; and b) they reveal how many vocal tracks it takes to get that amazing chorus-y effect.

I love that the guitar melody here makes reappearances throughout the album. I wasn't sure about M.B.V. at first listen but a few listens later and it's mind blowing!
what other song does it play in?
eckoecho I think "new you" has a similar chord progression, although I don't know if that's just me or if it was something intended.
Well, Loveless sort of had a similar dynamic. Songs 3-6 sound intentionally derivative of each other in some ways.
I always have the most intense urge to share mbv's songs with people I know so I can share the appreciation I have for their music with someone else. Except I know that no one close to me would really get it, so I never do :/
Tell them to play it when they feel they have their guard down the most. Let it creep into their being and let it satisfy their soul.
