Check out Roy (future man) Wooten. In a class by himself. Inventor of the percussive instrument that he plays on all the Bela Fleck shows. Yes, all the Wooten brothers are amazing musicians.
It is absolutely ridiculous how good these guys are. Victor and The Teacher!! Vic said his big brothers wouldn't let him go outside and play until he practiced his music first. I'd say it paid off handsomely.
@cleansounds your right ,when you tap the strings like that the string vibrates also from the tap to the nut and this is usually very dissonant so the scrunchy is used to dampen the string, some people use a piece of cloth under the strings by the nut.
the little band around the neck is just to silence the extra guitar noises. most people will insist that proper technique eliminates most unwanted noises but I've seen video with Regi where he says its not about cleaning up the sound of his playing its just for the subtle noises that come out when youre trying to be silent
@epicmenio It's a Kramer, but on his video, he shows how he's changed almost everything about it and added a ton of things, so I doubt it bares much resemblance to the original.
@andreking84 Regi tought all of his brothers to play different instruments as a kid. (Yes that means he tought Victor to play bass!) so not too much outside time for them lol
That is NOT super mario! It is a version of "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by the Temptations. It is hard for me to hear someone saying that this song is anything but "Papa Was A Rolling Stone." get it right because "super mario" is not flattering at all.
i've heard quite a bit of regi wooten...what would his style be considered. its like nothing i've ever heard..and no offense to him but i do'nt really like it. its probly just cuz i don't understand it...but still
now see if you ask me regie should stay as the rythm guitarist. he sounds like an amazing complimentor. like the guy who'd play guitar with you not against you ^^ while you solo
Regi wins this battle as far as that crazy fast strum shit goes . There is another battle between the two where they're standing up and victor is better.
I dig Regi but I think hes just a bit over rated. I mean hes awesome but some of the shit he does is a little too outlandish for it to sound decent. Victor on the other hand is a no bullshit phenom.
All of the Wooten brothers are phenomenal in their fields. Amazing.

Wow! I always knew Victor Wooten was awesome. But this is the first time I'm seeing Regi Wooten play! He's a genius!
I wish this jam would never stop.
This is too awesome for words, Regi's style is awesome.
I love my brother Regi!
We were in a band together for a while! PHENOMENAL!!
lol victor is famous but he still carries around his old bass
i respect that
That bass is worth 16000 dollars, and it isnt the same bass, jusy the same model.
It is absolutely ridiculous how good these guys are. Victor and The Teacher!! Vic said his big brothers wouldn't let him go outside and play until he practiced his music first. I'd say it paid off handsomely.
Thanks so much for posting this. Much appreciated.
thnx 4 posting i love ur videos

PAPA WAS A ROLLING STONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
It took me a moment to recognize the bass line, but I got it. "Papa was a rollin' stone."
Thank you, that was killing me while I was watching this
these guys inspire eachother so much! AWESOME! sometimes it happens at a live show, sometimes not.. my GAWD this is chop city in a land of Soul
Regi's guitar sounds like a clavinet. Some otherworldly brotherly love goin' on here.
A little grumpy and a keyboard and we might have something here…into the woods we go☯️
Vic may be the youngest, but he's the most talented
@black1swan2green3 Those things u put in your hair (can't think of what they are called). Vic uses them too, its to reduce the buzz on the instruments
i just shat my pants.. just like when i saw them live 3 days ago
They mute, and the further he moves them, the more muting occurs. Also, he can put one over a harmonic and have a harmonic open tone
Yeaaaa !!!! Eso es tocar con libertad . Beatiful!! Very Very good full funky!!! All power
papa was a rolling stone..wherever he lay his hat was his home!
RIP Patrick Starfish
Terrific Melodies!
funky you rock man what a guitar wow
@bbopadoe it sounds like the bass line from "Papa Was A Rolling Stone," by The Temptations
this is a great jam
@dangle456 - I believe they are to provide muting to the strings. They absorb some of the sustained vibrations without harder hand or arm muting.
the little band around the neck is just to silence the extra guitar noises. most people will insist that proper technique eliminates most unwanted noises but I've seen video with Regi where he says its not about cleaning up the sound of his playing its just for the subtle noises that come out when youre trying to be silent
@cleansounds Correcto. Especially when doing 2 handed tapping it's very hard to keep the non-played strings from ringing along.
The Temptations - Papa Was A Rolling Stone ?
its too cool! regi is a genius!
Victor has the most amazing control over the bass.
@epicmenio It's a Kramer, but on his video, he shows how he's changed almost everything about it and added a ton of things, so I doubt it bares much resemblance to the original.
wouldnt mind hearing him play normally
Enjoy your hatorade..
god damn this is so funky!
It's to keep the strings he's not playing from ringing out and prevent accidental pull-offs.
Super funky!! Must be the thumbs!!
Have you ever known two brothers that play ? It's always a battle..
y must they b so sweet
Bottle and sell that Wooten family water. I'll take a case.
They turned the rolling stone into a diamond.
sweet as sugar man....beatiful
great!
Why isnt guy on Guitar players cover????
No my friend, it shows how badly you want to play well. And that is a very honorable thing indeed. I'm sure Vic and Regi would agree.
regi wooten or stanley jordan...who would u guys go with??????
@cleansounds Thank you
@andreking84 Regi tought all of his brothers to play different instruments as a kid. (Yes that means he tought Victor to play bass!) so not too much outside time for them lol
I feel like someone who just found a pearl in the sand
well there you have it, the making of the music for 'Pokemon Blue/Red' lol
PAPA WAS A ROLLING STONE
they also provide more harmonics for all those tapping licks
Wherever he left his hat was his home.
lol.. it's Papa was a Rollin Stone by the Temptations.
@teracite i respect ur opinion but just out of curiosity, why?
sorry if this is a dumb question, are they brothers? or just have same name
@TheSammyreynolds Their used to he can play "Piano Chords" and to mute strings
papa was a rolln stone
I've held that guitar
Holy shit guitar...
Im genuinely curious as to what the scrunchies are for? can someone tell me please!
@mesaman1970 DUDE ITS NOT A BATTLE, IS JUST TWO GREAT PLAYERS JAMMING(sorry for caps)
Well shit!🤯 🔥
does anyone know where to get this whole video?
you guys get more out of slapping a guitar then most people playing it
some1 knows what kind of guitar is that?
How can regi be so good and bad at the same time
dude 5 years later i dont know
That is NOT super mario! It is a version of "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by the Temptations. It is hard for me to hear someone saying that this song is anything but "Papa Was A Rolling Stone." get it right because "super mario" is not flattering at all.
That lick at 4:15 is golden
Were they just like OK I'll master the bass, other said.. OK well then I'll get guitar? Wow
They've got a pianist brother & another on drums too........ had a horn player brother, but he passed away.
i've heard quite a bit of regi wooten...what would his style be considered. its like nothing i've ever heard..and no offense to him but i do'nt really like it. its probly just cuz i don't understand it...but still
@mesaman1970 ah touche
not really... have you ever tried? i didnt and it wasnt very rewarding :\
Mishandling a guitar i call it. Victor Wooten on the other hand is cool
holy **** 2.00
now see if you ask me regie should stay as the rythm guitarist. he sounds like an amazing complimentor. like the guy who'd play guitar with you not against you ^^ while you solo
Awesome! Guitar? Bass Guitar? Thumbs up, no, Two arms up, surrender, man. Cool!
Regi wins this battle as far as that crazy fast strum shit goes . There is another battle between the two where they're standing up and victor is better.
This is more jamming tho, not as much of a battle.

I dig Regi but I think hes just a bit over rated. I mean hes awesome but some of the shit he does is a little too outlandish for it to sound decent. Victor on the other hand is a no bullshit phenom.
its all good im not a big fan of it either
Regi's guitar is REALLY ugly.
But the sound of the brothers is fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.
i 'm fan of victor but... guitar.... i hate . its my opinion .
