Holy smoke, 31 years? Congratulations you two! Guessing it won't be long until you're back, as the school year starts soon. I hope the trip home is smooth and hassle free. Haven't had either of these bourbons but that's hardly surprising, considering availability and so forth. As always, appreciate hearing about them from your perspective. Looks like you're going to have a Journey's End in the not too distant future, in more than one way! I see some near empties behind you in The Nook. Re: the table top... You could consider painting it. Not black like the shelves, but maybe a dark charcoal blue-grey to match. Or re-stain the wood to a deeper mahogany. Just some thoughts... Cheers, and here's to life's adventures! 🥃🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
Back from the trip and righ into school year crazy! running on fumes right now. Definately need to do a Journey's end soon! I do not like the wood colour of this. It is too cheap to resurface properly. I have some ideas, but will not get to them for a few weeks I think. The charcoal blue-grey would be cool, but if I could, I prefer Mahogany. We'll see. I hope your late summer is going well!
This summer has been a busy one, and seems to be ending rather suddenly. Still hot here, but the trees are already starting to turn. Welcome home! Hopefully the jet lag will soon pass.
A belated Happy Anniversary! Try and find some US-export only bourbons in Asia if you can. Always great to hear the behind-the-scenes stuff. And thanks for this video as it's always fun to hear about stuff I haven't tried. Cheers!
I admit I limit scotch a lot now for medical reasons and stick to what I truly enjoy! Not a Bourbon lover! Love my peated scotch!! Have a fabulous weekend! I miss my time in St. Albert!!
It’s great you mix up your tastings between all the styles of whiskey. Most UA-camrs specialize with a single style. Scotch of all types serve my pallet best but I also enjoy Kentucky bourbons. Keep up the great reviews Jon. Appreciate your opinion.
Amador is Aged in new charred American Oak barrels for 3 years at a pedigreed craft distillery in Bardstown, KY with a mashbill of 65% corn, 20% wheat, 15% barley. Finished in Napa Cellars Chardonnay barrels for 9-12 months..
Nice initial review. I have the 10 year and an 8 year. However, the 8 year is finished in apple brandy casks. Both are really nice. While I like the 10 better, the 8 is no slouch. Cheers!
Trail’s End is a KY Bourbon aged 8yr in charred new American Oak barrels. It then travels west where it’s finished in Clear Creek Apple Brandy barrels with glacier-fed spring water from Mt. Hood. Mash bill has 10% rye.
The TE 10 for sure is the way to go. On my 3rd bottle. There is a youtube channel that also hed a cask strength 10 year but that is unobtainable for us.
@peterwhite507 I hope I find one then. This is good, but I was hoping for another layer. A comment was left that it was finished in apple Brandy casks. I did not really get that. I'll try again when I am home.
@@WhiskyNeighbour Not sure about the Apple Brandy casks, everything I read is the same as the 10 year, finished in Oregon Garryana casks. The additional 2 years and 105 proof is the difference maker. I have gotten it as low as $71 in Alberta on sale or with an online discount.
I have enjoyed both a lot Jon! Terrific reviews! Very interesting! I’d love there to be more Rye in the TE mashbill!! I love more Rye!!
@@christinecamley Hard to argue with good Rye!

@rayk1411 Thanks for the good wishes! I really appreciate the connection and encouragement too. It's good to connect over a dram, even virtually .

@christinecamley Good idea to limit. Nothing wrong with sticking more to what you love!

@davecashel4007 Thank you for the encouragement, I love talking about different whiskies, and it's great to know it's appreciated. Cheers!

@DileepB Thanky you! I shared more about it when I reviewed it a few months ago.

@jimreichel1466 I hope to find the 10 so I can compare . Apple Brandy? When I get home I am definitely trying this again! Cheers!

@DileepB I will need to listen for the Brandy when I try it again. Thanks!

@peterwhite507 that sounds like a great price! The palate matched more white oak.
