Its a veg tan insole, veg tan welt stitched to the rubber outsole. Void filled with cork and no midsole. In this case a veg removable insole too. They do this for foreign shipping I guess because normally they come with thin leather + foam insoles as listed in their website.
Dale, please do a video of all your current Chelsea's and grade from best to less best. Also, let us know why you had to depart if with any. Have you seen Urban Wolf Club boots, yet? Their Winchester Chelsea's look great, vegtan leather in, mid and even heel counter for $150.
That lacing configuration is pretty common on hiking boits. I think you just lace it normal, I always did. I think the theory is it helps really snug up on your ankles.
I bought the exact same pair in February of this year. Maybe the newer pairs are fully gusseted, but the pair sent to me had no gusset on the tongue. The website says all sales are final so I counted it as a $175 lesson. Other than the tongue issue, the boots were decent. There were a few quality issues but I guess you get what you pay for. I would not buy another pair from this company.

Those are great looking boots!!! It doesn’t look like they have a mid sole. Looks like the sole is glued to the welt.

Instead of just a welt, I really wish they made these with an additional layer of midsole leather. I would buy a pair in a heartbeat.
