kept saying to myself...they're going to save the one more bite commercial for last arent they?...toasty...you and me man, kindred spirits. the one nintendo commercial i will remember til my dying breath.
I thought it was a direct reference, but after hearing Peebs' take, I'm convinced whoever was in charge of this commercial got lazy and thought no one would remember this.
The Yoshi cookie ad he called "children of the corn" is a depiction of Japanese folk dance. A time-keeping call in those songs is "yoshi, yoshi" which basically means well done keep going . Yoshi's name is spelled Yosshi in Japanese, but that's pretty close to the word, which I believe is why this commercial has the folk dancing in it.
3:23 Bon Dance at an Obon Festival. Very fun, I go almost every weekend during the season. The circles do spin around a central tower, but the dances are usually pretty slow.
You can probably see moment for moment, scene for scene when the newly formed dad brain is kicking in. That last reaction seemed to scream "this was directed at kids?"
You're reaction to the last part of that last commercial was pure gold. I saw that one on a Chadtronic video and yep, most disgusting commercial I've ever seen.
I don't really remember actually playing it that well, but I've always thought Yoshi's Island DS having multiple different babies was a fun concept and that it's weird that they haven't done it again.
14:52 i just realized that i am a complete idiot, this was the ad that was haunting me at it isn't from taco bell, well... that taco bell incidents haunts me anyways
As someone who likes Yoshi, this is my favorite thing to watch in seeing from those commercials that are cute into something disturbing while trying to keep it in a family-friendly setting...well except for that last old commercial.
At about 5 minutes and 40 seconds you said I wish they would make video game commercials like they used to. You're right. They only just show the gameplay now and nothing else. I wished they cared
7:09 These videos are always so fascinating because it just goes to show how different countries were compelled to market the same video game, especially in the 90s and early 2000s. In Japan, male Japanese audiences aren't turned off by cute things, so the Yoshi games were marketed as sweet, little wholesome experiences that they were. Meanwhile, in America, they felt like they had to edgify the product they were selling to appeal to gamer-bros, so they would market the exact same game as a rebellious, bad boy experience. Complete with "when mom comes home, you guys are going to be in big trouble!" (Was that really necessary?) 😆 It's hilariously fascinating to see such wildly different advertising between cultures!
Peeb's reaction on that very last one was PURE GOLD. I remember seeing it for the first time over on one of Chadtronic's Cursed Commercial videos and being absolutely HORRIFIED by it. The guy exploding just came completely out of NOWHERE, I was speechless. Good luck getting that outta your head, Peebs!
To this day, I would absolutely rather have the big, gross commercials like that last one to the boring ones we get today. These commercials really stuck to your mind~
7:33 Heck yes, I love that cute lil game! It's perfect for a feel-good and chill day. The music and SFX always cheer me up (the jungle levels can be aggravating though with instakill fish lol)
Ngl, I was watching this whilst eating, and the last one made me feel a little ill 😅 Maybe I'm getting flashbacks to the Monty Python one where the guy vomits all over the place, but still...
As a kid in the 80s I had a toy that was very similar to the Yoshi sticky tongue toy! Same kind of black plastic handle with stickers on the side, but it was a green chameleon instead of Mario and Yoshi.
i remember reading that the game just called "yoshi" was not only a game released by gamefreak, but was also the game that helped them out of nearly being bankrupted. thats why the pokemon eggs look very similiar to yoshis eggs.
I liked Yoshi Island DS. The main issue people have with it is that the extra levels in it are stupidly unforgiving and it annoys people that they can't 100% a yoshi game because of it.
2:15 is it just me? Mario looks like he's doing something INCREDIBLY SUS behind that stand during the entire commercial. Both the movement and the faces... 👀
Oh my god, Yoshi’s Wooly World was the first game I ever played as a kid. I remember going to GameStop for the first time and saying to the cashier “I want Yoshi World and Link figure(amiibo)”
I have no memory of ever seeing a video game ad on TV growing up in Australia, so it's fun to see what they had in other countries. Even New Zealand, apparently. Ha.
I hate that I once saw the last commercial once as a child and it's stayed in my memory since. Why the Hell does my favourite Mario character have THAT add tied to him of all adds!?!?!?
When mom comes home you guys are gonna be in BIG trouble. >:[
(if you don't like the video) - Thanks for watching!
Uh oh. Need to like video. NOW!
hi peebs
NOO I CANT GET INTO TROUBLE!
@@JohntheBig01 hello! :)
kept saying to myself...they're going to save the one more bite commercial for last arent they?...toasty...you and me man, kindred spirits. the one nintendo commercial i will remember til my dying breath.
I was just as mouth agaped at the fat guy commercial as well. That was seriously straight out of Monty Python, maybe even more graphic.
I was thinking the same exact thing.
I thought it was a direct reference, but after hearing Peebs' take, I'm convinced whoever was in charge of this commercial got lazy and thought no one would remember this.
That movie is just full of memes 😂
@@omegaflowey9932 Not as full as Holy Grail, imo, but it's definitely got its moments :D
I remember that last commercial very clearly, and it makes me feel just as weird now as it did in the 90s.
Even to this day, I close my eyes at the exploding part.
The scientist was saying inryoku, which means "attraction" of the magnetic or gravitational variety
i didnt think anything could be as weird as the kirby commercials but here we are
For the last commercial, that had to have been a refrence to that one Monty Python skit with the guy blowing up
Just started watching the video, and already these commercials are UNHINGED! Love it 😆
My mom actually really enjoyed those sticky wacky wall walker type toys! And also those mini bouncy balls!
3:26 basically a traditional festival dance with people dancing in a circle IIRC. No idea why they're in a cornfield.
That's not even a cornfield. That's a wheat field. It's probably there cause flour is a base ingredient for cookies.
Yoshi's could do anything and rule the world someday.
I hope they do.
2:42 what Goku doing
Yea he will be our name king and god
He cant Juggle eggs though
@@SnowPea- If can't do that then he can't be our king hm?
The old Japanese yoshi voice is honestly my favorite
I love that Japanese commercial for Yoshi’s Island. It just reminds me of how amazing the game looks and plays.
That last commercial was living rent-free in my head for a long time.😵💫
And I didn't even remember what video game they were advertising.🙁
3:23 Bon Dance at an Obon Festival. Very fun, I go almost every weekend during the season. The circles do spin around a central tower, but the dances are usually pretty slow.
I knew it was some sort of festive dance, japan is kinda known for them
im simultaneously surprised at how theres so little and so many yoshi commercials
7:59 I used to see that redhead in LOTS of commercials when I was younger
I’m surprised Peebs hadn’t seen the most infamous Yoshi commercial, but I’m glad we got to see his reaction. First time I laughed out loud today! 💙
peebs went from smile to confused to disgusted all in under 1 second at the end. what in the world
I spat up my drink when he said "You can call Me daddy" then sipped from a cup reading daddy😂
Yoshi’s Woolly World is one of the most nostalgic games for me, though I don’t think I remember seeing any commercials for it?
You don't remember the Double Yoshi Exploshi?
@@loona2n I do! I've seen it multiple times; I just don't remember watching the commercial on TV or anything
I love how in the Yoshi NES ad they had Yoshi say "Meep" and i wish it was canon in the Mario series ✨️
My jaw hit the floor at the end of the last commercial. I was not expecting that!
Yoshi in these Japanese commercials sounds suspiciously like Pikachu.
Thank you peebs, i just got Covid and I’ve been violently sick but this recently cheered me up. Never change peebs! Been watching for like 7 years!
@NurainNabilahNazri Thanks! The first day was awful, but so far It's been all right since then now it feels like just an above average cold. ❤
@NurainNabilahNazriYeah, in 4 years this is the first time I have gotten Covid so it feels weird.
Never (until today) have I considered watching all the Yoshi commercials. Thank you for this. *meep*
"and only Yoshi can turn into a bobsled"
*prince fluff has entered the chat*
Finally someone mentions him
You can probably see moment for moment, scene for scene when the newly formed dad brain is kicking in. That last reaction seemed to scream "this was directed at kids?"
The dance in that commercial is some sort of festive dance, although i don't know which one, maybe is the bon odori?
I'd be lying if I said that Yoshi's Island commercial didn't make me feel a little woozy, like that was actually wild.
10 seconds in and I'm grossed out. Pretty excited for this video.
2:13 a singing piranha plant??
it already happened…
Yoshi Island (DS) was my jam I loved that game.
You're reaction to the last part of that last commercial was pure gold. I saw that one on a Chadtronic video and yep, most disgusting commercial I've ever seen.
I don't really remember actually playing it that well, but I've always thought Yoshi's Island DS having multiple different babies was a fun concept and that it's weird that they haven't done it again.
i regret not becoming chronically online before all video game ads turned into powerpoint presentations
I’m so glad he’d never seen the fat guy one cause his genuine speechlessness at the end was SO FUNNY
Daddy?! LOLOL I died legit at that cup!! That's awesome!! You're gonna be a great dad!!
Thank you :)
I'm biased because it was my childhood, but I don't think Yoshi's Island DS is bad at all.
I love the juxtaposition between the first two commercials lol
Pokemon: We are the biggest selling franchise in gaming!!!
Mario: Hold-a my mama mia.
14:52 i just realized that i am a complete idiot, this was the ad that was haunting me at it isn't from taco bell, well... that taco bell incidents haunts me anyways
Noticed there wasn't much mention of 12:38... I need to fix that. That really got me 😂😂
Wow another great video so glad he’s covering this
I only cover the most pressing issues of the day here on the Peebs channel.
@@Peebsglad you do

2:42 why is this such a good edit
They ripped that last one from Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life!
6:59 Funny Dino & Martin my beloved 💚❤️

You're expression on that last commercial was hilarious. I actually remember that commercial.
Fun fact that Yoshi’s Crafted World commercial appeared in the 2019 Kid’s Choice Awards
That commercial literally is like the WiiU ads
2:47 I translated the text, it says Game Boy is also released at the same time.
omg pbg’s face at the end 😂😂

The look on Peebs face at the end made me burst out laughing. Also . . .EW.
PBG: “what the hell was that?”
A snuff film, PBG.
that last one traumatized me
That Let’s Go Yoshi commercial is the cutest thing I’ve ever watched.
When I saw this, I immediately thought of "Woshi, it's a double Yoshi exploshi!"
Oh. That one isn't even in this video.
I used to watch that last commercial with the guy eating food before every time I played Yoshi's Island lmao
Yoshi is incredibly great!
Yoshi is definitely my favorite Mario character so this should be a fun watch.
Hear me out guys, maybe we should call Daddy, Peebs instead as a nickname.
I remember that commercial where the guy exploded! It was so gross! 😆
Double Yoshi Exploshi 🗣️🔥
7:33 Heck yes, I love that cute lil game! It's perfect for a feel-good and chill day. The music and SFX always cheer me up (the jungle levels can be aggravating though with instakill fish lol)
Imagine a child watching the one where the cute innocent Yoshi's are being eaten
3:30 Are they doing some kind of Yoshi cookie ritual
Ngl, I was watching this whilst eating, and the last one made me feel a little ill 😅 Maybe I'm getting flashbacks to the Monty Python one where the guy vomits all over the place, but still...
i cant explain how happy i am i love yoshi sm, i have a collection of just yoshi things, i am yoshi

These videos are so great. Shoutout to Toasty! The editing pops for me frequently. My goodness. Meep!
Favorite Yoshi "videos" were the wooly world shorts with the yarn yoshis
that one last commercial would've made more sense for kirby
it would still be disgusting af but at least i would get it
Yosh...Yosh...Yoshiiiiiiiii!!!
You’re one to complain about someone eating disgusting foods. That’s rich! Lol
Seeing Peeds with a "Daddy" mug was kinda sweet cuz he probably received that for being a new father.
YOSHI EXPLOSHI!
That's it, that's my comment.
SHeesh the 90s were really on something different with those gross ones
The last commercial was a joke that Nintendo stole from Monty Python. It's from The Meaning of Life, I think.
Great video!
How could Toasty forget the "double Yoshi exploshi" commercial from the Wii U era??
i remember reading that the game just called "yoshi" was not only a game released by gamefreak, but was also the game that helped them out of nearly being bankrupted. thats why the pokemon eggs look very similiar to yoshis eggs.
i love yoshi!
"20 iconic phrases!" From Yoshi? I don't believe you. Combined with Mario, fine. But alone, no way.

Yoshi did have a voice on the Mario 3 cartoons … talked a good amount too
I liked Yoshi Island DS. The main issue people have with it is that the extra levels in it are stupidly unforgiving and it annoys people that they can't 100% a yoshi game because of it.
10:38 he literally says "turkey" in Russian
2:15 is it just me? Mario looks like he's doing something INCREDIBLY SUS behind that stand during the entire commercial. Both the movement and the faces... 👀
It’s tragic seeing that last commercial today where they just splat a mint copy of Yoshi’s island with a fat ball of spaghetti, lol.
Oh my god, Yoshi’s Wooly World was the first game I ever played as a kid. I remember going to GameStop for the first time and saying to the cashier “I want Yoshi World and Link figure(amiibo)”

Introducing Yoshi Python's The Meaning of Life lol
Slow the end down, you'll notice the man isn't vomiting. He's exploding.
good video, i love yoshi
