This was and is one of my favorite shows. Mr. Daly introduced the wrong commercial. Remington shavers instead of Helene Curtis. Two big brands then. We had both in our home. My mom used Helene Curtis and my dad used Remington. Thanks for the memories.
This show originally aired on April 1, A.D. 1956. Miss Meadows, who had been on IGAS since July 1952 as a regular panelist vacated her chair in November 1958; being succeeded by Miss Myerson one month later. Miss Emerson, who first appeared as a weekly panelist in February 1953, was followed by Miss Palmer the second week of January 1958. Cullen, Morgan, Palmer, and Myerson remained on the show until its 1967 cancelation.
I am obsessed with WML. Watched it decades ago. Makes me ancient. They are all very entertaining. I think John Daly is a doll. (male doll). They are all hilarious, makes me laugh out loud, despite these times. Oct. 4, 2024.
Oh my goodness, these people are so elegant without a race of elitism, so charming, so gracious, so good-natured so generously imbued with a love of life that is utterly infectious...Spending even so brief a time with them is like a vacation by the sea....Thanks so much for posting - PS- Please tell me what planet they came from...Thanks.
Keith Naylor ... The guy telling about the shaver is Bil Baird, according to the beginning of the first ad. I don’t know him though. I’ve known or recognized all the mystery guests so far.
@@dianefiske-foy4717 bil baird was a famous puppeteer (those were his puppets). He was the puppetter for The Lonely Goaterd segment in The Sound of Music.

It has always interested me that John Daly was from South Africa. Thanks for giving more detail. I grew up in South Africa, and ten years of it was near Johannesburg. Sometimes John comes out with a bit of Afrikaans.
John C. Daley was the best though!! I never liked Larry Bleiden/Bleyden (not sure if spelling). He was horrible and I remember seeing his programs when they were current.
Just the technology of the times! Have you ever heard a radio show from the 1930s? Sometimes really hard to hear (I love vintage/classic radio programs)!
I lived in AZ most of my life and the regular shows started at 7pm - this is one of the maddening things for me to get used to as I now live in NC and everything starts at 8pm!!!
I realize there's no point in nitpicking a decades-old show, but the questions were about the number of feet, not arms or legs, and while one could argue that an octopus has no actual feet, the name does literally means "eight-foot", so there's that.
My Father's Nickname was The Octopus. He Painted Houses like he had 8 arms. He and I, when I was about 12, Painted Frankie Valli's House and Connie Francis' House in New Jersey.

Dorothy Killgallen - 1913-1965
Bennett Cerf - 1898-1971
Faye Emerson - 1917-1983
Bill Cullen - 1920-1990
Garry Moore - 1915-1993
Henry Morgan - 1915-1994
Victor Borge - 1909-2000
Arlene Francis - 1907-2001
Jayne Meadows - 1919-2015
Wow - Bennett Cerf was born in the 1800s!
You did not mention Jayne Meadows .
We all have to go sometime. John Daly lived from 1914-1991, (7 years old). That's an average of 78 years per person, not bad. They didn't get cheated.

He did mention Jane.

Wish the date was on this! I love these episodes!
I didn't get to see him on television until he was much older, but I loved Victor Borge. I liked his phonetic punctuation.
Be glad when the series has mystery guests who I have heard of, but I did recognise the guy in the shaving ad -
James Coburn!!!

Wow - I’ll have to watch that commercial again!
I love the Remington shaver ads.
This is so funny 😂🤣💖💯
Bill Cullen rarely walked on camera due to his disability but he playing with the feathers in Jayne's hat was funny.
There’s a funny story on his Wikipedia about this
🤔🤔
I didn’t know that Bill Cullen had a disability.
Actually, (According to the definition of Bill Veeck) because he could walk, Bill Cullen was only impaired, not disabled.
@@leannsherman6723 Watched him countless times during my youth and never knew this.
James Cobern in a Shaving Comercial . WOW
Anyone notice the young actor in the Remington shaver ad? A very young "Our Man Flint", one James Coburn.
@kurtfrancis4621 I do believe you're right. Well spotted!
why did i just watch this and why am i subbed to this channel ?
It's fun!!!!

Because you like vintage game shows! :)
I believe Arlene Francis appeared several times on IGAS . I am not sure about the other three regular panelists from WML.
Victor Borge had me ROFLing!
man i remeber that one :P i am getting old
This was a fun show, it’s a shame it is currently not on first run TV.
Its downfall was corporate greed. There was not enough advertising to justify prime time broadcast.
What was the date of this episode?
Arlene Francis is just sharp as a tack.
Isn't that James Coburn in the shaving commercial?
It's James Coburn.
Contestant #2: last name looked like a naughty word until he dotted the eye
LOL, I didn't notice that until I saw your comment and watched it again.
@@shanahyneman1573 The reason he looked so giddy is probably because he'd learned to write his name like that and been doing it all his life.

It is amazing how many totally inappropriate panelists, including Julius Henry Marx, the producers permitted, in the infancy of inclusion.
