This show originally aired on April 1, A.D. 1956. Miss Meadows, who had been on IGAS since July 1952 as a regular panelist vacated her chair in November 1958; being succeeded by Miss Myerson one month later. Miss Emerson, who first appeared as a weekly panelist in February 1953, was followed by Miss Palmer the second week of January 1958. Cullen, Morgan, Palmer, and Myerson remained on the show until its 1967 cancelation.
❤
This was and is one of my favorite shows. Mr. Daly introduced the wrong commercial. Remington shavers instead of Helene Curtis. Two big brands then. We had both in our home. My mom used Helene Curtis and my dad used Remington. Thanks for the memories.
Dorothy Killgallen - 1913-1965
Bennett Cerf - 1898-1971
Faye Emerson - 1917-1983
Bill Cullen - 1920-1990
Garry Moore - 1915-1993
Henry Morgan - 1915-1994
Victor Borge - 1909-2000
Arlene Francis - 1907-2001
Jayne Meadows - 1919-2015
Wow - Bennett Cerf was born in the 1800s!
You did not mention Jayne Meadows .
We all have to go sometime. John Daly lived from 1914-1991, (7 years old). That's an average of 78 years per person, not bad. They didn't get cheated.
@@JJJBRICE
He did mention Jane.
@@44032, he was 77 years old when he died.
Oh my goodness, these people are so elegant without a race of elitism, so charming, so gracious, so good-natured so generously imbued with a love of life that is utterly infectious...Spending even so brief a time with them is like a vacation by the sea....Thanks so much for posting - PS- Please tell me what planet they came from...Thanks.
Bill Cullen rarely walked on camera due to his disability but he playing with the feathers in Jayne's hat was funny.
There’s a funny story on his Wikipedia about this
🤔🤔
I didn’t know that Bill Cullen had a disability.
@@leannsherman6723 Watched him countless times during my youth and never knew this.
Wish the date was on this! I love these episodes!
Be glad when the series has mystery guests who I have heard of, but I did recognise the guy in the shaving ad -
James Coburn!!!
Keith Naylor ... The guy telling about the shaver is Bil Baird, according to the beginning of the first ad. I don’t know him though. I’ve known or recognized all the mystery guests so far.
@@dianefiske-foy4717 bil baird was a famous puppeteer (those were his puppets). He was the puppetter for The Lonely Goaterd segment in The Sound of Music.
Imogene Coco was the grandmother in National Lampoon's Vacation, though everything she did prior was much superior.
Jayne Meadows, Bill Cullen, Faye Emerson and Henry Morgan were very famous in the 50s and 60s. They were all quite active performers even through the 70s although not nearly as popular (except for Faye who retired in the 60s).
Wow - I’ll have to watch that commercial again!
Arlene Francis is just sharp as a tack.
Anyone notice the young actor in the Remington shaver ad? A very young "Our Man Flint", one James Coburn.
@kurtfrancis4621 I do believe you're right. Well spotted!
This is so funny 😂🤣💖💯
I love the Remington shaver ads.
Isn't that James Coburn in the shaving commercial?
It's James Coburn.
I believe Arlene Francis appeared several times on IGAS . I am not sure about the other three regular panelists from WML.
Contestant #2: last name looked like a naughty word until he dotted the eye
LOL, I didn't notice that until I saw your comment and watched it again.
@@shanahyneman1573 The reason he looked so giddy is probably because he'd learned to write his name like that and been doing it all his life.
This was a fun show, it’s a shame it is currently not on first run TV.
why did i just watch this and why am i subbed to this channel ?
It's fun!!!!
@@gottamatch Yes!♥
I love it!

Because you like vintage game shows! :)
Victor Borge had me ROFLing!
It's odd to say this aired at 10:30 pm, i have always been in the midwest, where the news was always 10pm
I lived in AZ most of my life and the regular shows started at 7pm - this is one of the maddening things for me to get used to as I now live in NC and everything starts at 8pm!!!
man i remeber that one :P i am getting old
John Charles Patrick Crogan Daly had an earning net worth of $42,000,000 worldwide!! He was born to American military parents on February 20th, 1914 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and died of cardiac arrest on February 24th, 1991 in Chevy Chase, Maryland (DC area suburb), at as stunning total of 77 years, and 4 days old. Ivan Lawrence Blieden, the latest What's My Line? syndicated host, earning a net worth of $1,000,000-5,000,000 worldwide from sales on television ticket sales and advertising. He was born June 23rd, 1925 in Houston, Texas, and died from injuring himself in a car accident on June 6th, 1975, at a total of 59 years, 11 months, and 14 days old. Milton Supman had a net worth of $1,400,000 worldwide. He was born January 8th, 1926 in Franklinton, North Carolina, and died October 22nd, 2009 in New York City (The Bronx), at a total of 83 years, 9 months, and 16 days old.
It has always interested me that John Daly was from South Africa. Thanks for giving more detail. I grew up in South Africa, and ten years of it was near Johannesburg. Sometimes John comes out with a bit of Afrikaans.
Who is Milton supman?
John C. Daley was the best though!! I never liked Larry Bleiden/Bleyden (not sure if spelling). He was horrible and I remember seeing his programs when they were current.
When intelligence and class existed.
I ❤️victor borge
What was the date of this episode?
Bess Myerson was the other panelist and was on her honeymoon.
Miss Myerson became a regular panelist on IGAS on December 10, 1958; one month after Miss Meadows left the show.
Audio quality is poor, but picture quality is great.
Just the technology of the times! Have you ever heard a radio show from the 1930s? Sometimes really hard to hear (I love vintage/classic radio programs)!
I realize there's no point in nitpicking a decades-old show, but the questions were about the number of feet, not arms or legs, and while one could argue that an octopus has no actual feet, the name does literally means "eight-foot", so there's that.
My Father's Nickname was The Octopus. He Painted Houses like he had 8 arms. He and I, when I was about 12, Painted Frankie Valli's House and Connie Francis' House in New Jersey.
The generalities used are sometimes very LOOOOOSELY used.
Jane Meadows was a very pretty woman.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Since when do octopuses live in houses?
It can be found in the house. As in, when someone eats it for dinner
Sponge Bob square pants
Victor Borge had no idea what’s going on but was the funniest regardless
Actually it is 8 footed.
where was Betsy Palmer??!! ⁉️
Miss Emerson's last appearance as a regular panelist on IGAS was on January 1, 1958. Miss Palmer succeeded her the following week and remained with the show until its 1967 cancelation. She had also been a guest panelist on the show beginning in 1955.
