My brother had a barista pro and never warmed to it after previously owning a sunbeam with a dual boiler. He’s bought a signature recently and is much happier. He prefers the overall workflow
Barista expresses sold in 2023 (potentially much of 2022 also) onwards all have 9 bar opv and max out at around 11 to 12 o'clock in the gauge (confirmed by plugging a BDB gauge and seeing it around the 9.5 bar mark). I sell and repair brevilles for a living and can confirm! Thanks for the comprehensive run down Kev. Just what I suspected, another attempt where sunbeam (just like delonghi) attempt to copy from the success that Breville has garnered.
Nothing matches the Touch Impress in it's particular niche, but it is twice the price of either of these machines. Although I suspect the Sunbeam/Breville one has a real intended retail price of £499 and the higher price is just a marketing trick to make it look more attractive.
I use one too. It marries the touch and the express impress which is awesome! Pricey for sure. Touch was also super good with single dosing and dosing cup. Express impress very nice for those more focussed on black coffees and occasionally steam milk. There's a new model about to be released, the Oracle Jet. Basically a touch impress with 58mm pf and Oracles tamping fan. Wished it were dual thermojet but appears to be single thermo jet.
@@caffeinefix2751 Got to wonder what the point in a machine like that would be... A touch impress for people who don't want to press down the tamping lever?
Great video Kev! Really interesting to see your grinder particle profiles (credit to your daughter) - are you planning on publishing these for other grinders? would be really interested to see!
'For the fellow with that ridiculous service problem with the Sunbeam/Breville service warranty BS over the group gasket, first, that is absolutely horrible of Sunbeam/Breville in the UK. Second, Kev, try contacting Paul at Cafelat. He makes a whole bunch of different silicone gaskets for a wide variety of espresso machines, that often work way better than OEM (I use his gaskets in my LM GS3, Rancilio Silvia, had them in the Speedster, and just installed one in the Lelit Bianca); he may have gaskets to fit that person's machine, and you don't have to send away to Australia for them.
I used to own the Barista Express. I "upgraded" to a separate grinder and espresso machine, but to be honest, I wish I'd just upgraded it's integrated grinder.
@@Coffee_Kev I went for a Rancilio Silvia and a Eureka Mignon Zero. Both fine machines, but ultimately, the shots from the Silvia aren't a huge improvement on the Barista Express and I don't use it's superior steam wand (I'm all about the shots).
What coffee machine/grinder setup would you recommend after low cost Delonghi EC805 paired with budget 20$ grinder ? I´m looking for quality home espresso (also flat white, lungo) solution which will work for years. For now I´m deciding to pull the trigger on Eureka Mignon Specialita and ASCASO Steel UNO PID. But also asking myself if it´s necessary to buy coffee machine which is like 1400€. What about this ASCASO vs Gaggia New Classic EVO ? Is that PID function which is not present on Gaggia so important ? Or build quality is so different ? Thx
Yeah I did vs the Express as the price point is closer, I think overall the pro would have the same pros vs the signature as the express, but also slightly faster steaming, and more (smaller) grind adjustments. Ta, Kev.
Re what I mentioned in the video about the price of the Barista Express, If you're in Europe see: coffeeblog.co.uk/joinbrewtime

Cheers 😎 Yeah the latest models do have a 9 bar OPV. I'm not clear on the manufacturing dates though.
I recently bought Barista Touch Impress and can't really see anything on the market which would make me regret
Yeah there is a lot of good stuff about the Touch Impress for sure. When it comes to cup quality vs convenience, I think it's difficult to beat.

Thanks :-). Yeah that's the plan, lots more of these coming. Ta, Kev
Also be interesting to see if the difference in distribution is consistent for different beans, too

Brilliant thanks Mark, I'll get in touch with Paul, cheers! 😀👍

What setup did you go for? Ta, Kev.

Hi Kev, with the Barista Pro having quicker steaming and a shot timer would that be an even bigger winner for you?

Could you please tell us about or review Lelit Anita PL042EM, Graef Milegra ESM802, Gaggia Carezza?

Nice video
Cheers 😎
What's the scale (with auto timer) that you use in the video please?
