If you've got one Whammy, little or no dough, and a whole pile of passed spins, you can move them all to the earned column (thereby allowing you to pass them later if you've subsequently amassed a lot and don't want to risk a huge loss).

I have seen a few instances. If memory serves at least one instance occured on Michael Larson's first spin on the board ("Michael is going to yell stop for us at any time...") It has happened other times too, though i cannot recall the specifics of those instances. The impulse to say "stop" can be attributed to Peter Tomarken's demo spin shown in early episodes, used to demonstrate, more for viewers than the contestants themselves whom no doubt were furnished with the rules and game procedures as well as performing a practice game, how the game was played. During said demo spin peter would say something to the effect of "... you can win cash and fabulous prizes anytime you stop the board like this... 'stop!'...".
