As a Turkish person, I wasn't able to be in Turkey for this year . I was feeling sad that I couldn't be able to attend 100. years celebrations and after watching your video I actually cried. I would like to be there. Thanks for your video.
You know what makes me real emotional about this? We've been facing so many problems as a nation, I mean so many. It's not something that can be easily defined as "economic turmoil" or things like that, that would be an understatement. Especially in the last 10 years, this nation suffered from a lot of things: terror, economic crisis, societal problems, violence... We've lost our reputation in the world arena, we've somehow become the unwanted people and nation in Europe or pretty much anywhere in the world besides some exceptions. The people of Turkish Republic have been going through a process of deep insecurity, facing with unimaginable uncertainty regarding their future and their place in the world. We've been trying to convince others that we are not bad, we are not a place where you would feel unsafe, and you know what, it is so freaking frustrating. But besides all these, all these negativity surrounding us for almost a decade now, what you see in this video is also real. As the citiziens of Republic of Türkiye, we may curse at each other, we may dislike each other, we may fight and we may hurt each other while trying to cope with all our problems. But when it comes to our nation, our Republic, we are united. We become one, we celebrate what we share altogether, with pride. We forget what makes our lives dark and unbearable, but we remember the light that we have always followed, which is still there, no matter what. And it is not something that only some of us are aware and enjoy, but even though most of us do not know about it, it's something every Turkish citizen knows deep down. So what you see in this video, is not merely a big group of people coming together, watching a concert and waving flags. It's much more than that, it's what loyalty exactly means, what a feeling of belonging is. It's what despite everything, what keeps us here, alive, what keeps us going, what gives meaning to our lives. There are so many things I dislike and disapprove about my country, actually not about my country but the way things are handled and executed here. But I'm still proud. I've been to 28 countries around the world, lived in some of them for long time. And I know wherever I go, there are certainly things that I would not be able to find, the things that made me "me", the things that this nation and these people taught me and inspired me about, the things that we should not take for granted and feel proudly confident about. I love my people, I love my country.
To be honest, As a Turkish aviator, I can say that I have seen all continents and all major countries / cities on the world. But never seen anywhere more beautiful than Istanbul. I am in love with Istanbul. Thank you for posting this video on our most important day. God Bless Turkiye, God Bless our people. Rest in peace, O great ATATÜRK.
Thank you for this video, I am studying abroad and was not able to be in Turkey on the 29th of October. It was great to see my country in red & white and celebrate the 100th year of the Republic! Thank you Ataturk for every right that you give us!
Thank you witnessing and sharing this great day for Turks. Türkiye is a peninsula of peace surrounded by so many unstable countries unfortunately. I am glad we are not an oil-rich country, otherwise the money thirsty politicians of the west would try to make us unstable, too. Actually, they still try since they do not want a strong Türkiye in the middle east. We will emerge the most envied country in the 21st century along with China, I hope. We have that potential.
Turkey is not an Arab country and will never be. We, as REAL Turks, won't tolerate and accept that! Never confuse Turkey with an Arab country, never! We are so different! ☝️

I also study in Poland and I was sad that I missed my country's 100th year of celebration. I watched your video with tears, thank you very much for recording and sharing with us. I am sad but my stay is temporary so i'm gonna pay off when i start to give lectures to my engineering students in my country. One thing about us: we are proud of our country and we try to do our best to sustain our freedom and indipendency and we try to safe our country from different threats every once in a while. This is literally a daily conversation in every meal table between everyone no matter where you are. Even in cafes, in universities and in our family conversations 😂 so i love us for that.
My advice to Turks is to never lose their love for their country. It's the only country who ever accept them as Turks, nowhere else. The only countries that would "accept" them are now struggling to accept themselves (like the US, where I've grown up). Find your own way of life, love your neighbors in the region, and don't ever believe you must live under the shadows of the West. The world is changing in a way that simply will not be true.

I live in the States and planned my annual vacation to be in Türkiye on October 29th and November 10th. I was in between Uskudar and Kuzguncuk. Yes, it was a total madness. Because of the crowd, the cell phones did not work. Our view for the foreworks was not better than yours. But after all, it was all worth it. I am so glad to witness all on my lifetime. Ne Mutlu Türküm Diyene! ❤🇹🇷🧿 Thank you, Peter. This video and Anitkabir were fantastic!
I went back to the Bourdain restaurant today and they closed early because they ran out of meat. I’ll get it on video soon though. Thanks for watching!

I congratulate you for your self-confidence. I wish you all the best. Also, as a side note, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is not only an example for Turkey but also a blessing for the world.

Congratulations, good timing for the video. There are also excellent cities in Turkey other than Istanbul. I hope you go to cities like Izmir and Muğla.
Thank you for this lovely video. I loved it! Being in Istanbul for the first time ever, you are very lucky to witness Turkish nation's precious and historical 100th year joy. I was in Istanbul, Bağdat Street on this awesome day and I felt so happy to sing the Turkish National Anthem and all other old and new anthems for Republic of Türkiye, together with all the proud crowd. I feel the emotions of Turkish people who were not in Türkiye on that day. Even I was sad not to be able to see all the points of Istanbul like Bosphorus, Istiklal Street etc. I would like to be in every celebration. :) And I'm glad to hear that you'll be in Ankara on November 10th. Right time, right location. I finish my words with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's historical words, "Peace at home, peace in the world!"

I know the Bosphorus was full of Turkish navy ships on Republic Day and that’s why the ferries weren’t working but normally when you are going to the other side, I suggest you use the ferry as much as you can; the views are amazing and the filter coffee of “Sehir Hatlari” is not half bad ✨

I watch your videos frequently and I am your follower, thank you for sharing such a valuable event with the UA-cam community on such a precious day. Undoubtedly, October 29 is the biggest event for Turks. We can not thank enough everyone who shed their blood for this country, especially Atatürk. I also recommend you to watch the videos of Atatürk's close relations and speeches with USA, both nations had great speeches and relations once upon a time.
actually 29 october is the one of least important until 2018 when the presidental system changed and even if it's late some people realised country goes to very unknown important days and festivals; 10. november, 30 august, ramadan/sacrifice eid ( 23. april and 19. may; still important but not celebrated like 20 years ago)
@@huseyinmehmetaltun2046 It is not clear what you are talking about, holidays such as Ramadan are religious holidays, you cannot compare them with national holidays. How much more important should October 29 be, the year in which the independence and republic was established? October 29 is the most important holiday in Turkey, there is no need to say much.
Long live my noble country ❤🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷 Thanks for this vlog👏🏻 Yes, the anniversary is on the 29th, October but we celebrate during the week, the month. Especially this 100th year, we are celebrating the whole year🎉❤🇹🇷

No thank you!
Istanbul is amazing. I’ll be making another video about it. I don’t think I did it justice here hahaha
Not only Istanbul. The whole Country is amazing and unique.

Thanks! Yeah, I had this date circled for a few months
Thank you for this video, I am studying abroad and was not able to be in Turkey on the 29th of October. It was great to see my country in red & white and celebrate the 100th year of the Republic! Thank you Ataturk for every right that you give us!
Happy to help! Thanks for watching!
Im excited to learn more! Planning to spend some time here learning about the history and culture. Stay tuned for new videos!

Good to know! Thanks for sharing that
özlem canım bu üzüntünü anladım yer değiştirebiliriz gel ülkene dön ben senin yerine okumaya devam ederim cok özlemişssindir şimdi

And I'm glad to hear that you'll be in Ankara on November 10th. Right time, right location.
I finish my words with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's historical words, "Peace at home, peace in the world!"

Great work your video. Seeing such celebrations in my country for 100th year of independence brought tears to my eyes. I love Turkiye and Turkish people.
After finding out I couldn't walk across the bridge, I walked back and was able to get on a ferry hahaha It's very convenient though! Thanks for watching!

Will do! I'm planning to go to Ankara for November 10th, so I'll talk more about his legacy in that video
@@TravelLordOnLoc It is very impressive that you are interested in the history of different cultures, I hope you have a good time in Turkey!
actually 29 october is the one of least important until 2018 when the presidental system changed and even if it's late some people realised country goes to very unknown
important days and festivals; 10. november, 30 august, ramadan/sacrifice eid ( 23. april and 19. may; still important but not celebrated like 20 years ago)
The beauty of my hometown is truly breathtaking. It's amazing toll its glory. I'm convinced that you must have enjoyed it as much as we did.
