It doesn't matter if you drive for Uber Eats or if you are a Lyft driver. The reasons hold true across the board. Driving is already a challenging business model, but adding in some of these factors could really make it difficult to make money.

I've been watching your video since I started my Uber business 7 months ago. The information that you have provided has made me a successful business owner. Thanks so much for the information and your support God bless you and your family...
Ted Greer Thank you very much 🙏🏾
@@jayjohnson38 Are you saying that you can't see your Referral Code when you click on "Learn More" under the earnings tab?
The Simple Driver I’m in Minneapolis and have only been driving for two weeks. I do have a invite code when I click on learn more. Says make up to $300 for each new driver you invite who completes 100 trips.
Jay Johnson I would hit a “Green Light Hub”, because that’s not normal. I haven’t heard of that problem before. Keep me posted.
RT Great to hear that. Please know that those 100 trips are just for YOUR city you drive in. Your referral code will have different amounts and trip total for different cities ranging from $10-$700. Make sure you watch my video titled “Uber Referral Myths” on my channel.
This video should be mandatory to watch when your about to sign up with Uber.
Hollywood Thrift and Grind Thanks got this comment. I agree ☝🏾
All those miles will trash your vehicle fast, and no compensation for it from any rideshare company.
Driving is just one way of earning. Gotta take advantage of the rest for 6-Figures a year ua-cam.com/video/SGRIQHkvH3Q/v-deo.html
You're right it's complete total corruption using your car running it til it falls apart.. and you got to pay for everything insurance at all I don't know if you can take this off your taxes can you?
I have to stop driving for 2 reasons really.
1. You get treated like a worthless person as a driver.
2. It’s unsafe.
No amount of money is worth that.
The main reason to never drive for Uber = You don't want to be your own boss.
You Sir are the Man.. I do this Part Time Only as meant to be.. I made $171 Yesterday for 8 Hours BEFORE Expenses. I know thats a good day but I also know those days DON'T Happen everyday.. Its Partial Luck on top of everything else you said as well - Boston MA Market - I would NEVER quit a full time job with Benefits for a Ride Share Business.
Ricky Driving Thanks for commenting Ricky! Glad you are using it to your advantage.
Dropping gems! And in love the getting closer to the camera format. Nice job (as usual)
I like, not in love lol
LOL, I know what you meant bro'. Thanks for the comment and thanks for subbing.
Really good stuff man. I watched hours of your content before jumping into uber 2 years ago. I was an on and off driver until a few months ago. I really started taking it seriously and rewatching your videos. Thank you for all the tips. Its helped me get more rides and a higher star rating
Glad I could help Kevin. Congrats!
Everything you said is correct. I started Uber in 2011 and it was a perfect fit for me at that time, I drove until I had it with it (5 years) I was tired of all the things that you stated that was when I knew it was time to move to something else. But I figure that out in the beginning, I knew the gravy train had an end and after five years I was ready to move on to the next level. I sold Uber and Lyft service, I hustle that like a true salesman, I made more money in sell than driving in the beginning, because it was fresh and New, but I also knew that would come to an end. Like anything, you have to know when to fold and not be forced to fold.
Titus Nixon Great comment. Spoken from someone who surely has the experience to publish these words. Thanks Titus!
Brutally honest !! You killed it with this one, Sir.
Someone had to say it :-)
Straight to the point! 💯💯💯
Well said !!!Thank you Keep up the motivation because it really helps
God Bless
Thanks Stacy. Stay motivated 😃
Calvin, you crushed it on this one bruh! Respect!!!!
Marco Washington Appreciate it. Just keepin’ it all the way real out here.
The Simple Driver 💯👍🏽
It's not even a business. It's a sweatshop.
Finally somebody's being real and telling exactly what's going on thank you
Thanks for watching and commenting Trevino.
great advice and this is comming from a seasoned driver with 5500 trips and 5 years on the platform
Also, I love the quality of your camera, what camera are you using? I want to invest in one for my channel 😎✊🏿
Thanks for the compliment. I was using my Sony a6500 with the Kit Lens. Check it out on Amazon amzn.to/2ZtVWvj
I've been watching your channel for almost three years now. Best video you've posted yet. Thanks!
Thank you for being around 3 years Glenn.
You have to be in the right market. If you are in a small market that only offers short rides you are making as little three dollars for a ride that might take ten minutes of your time not to mention the miles on your car. In town driving is extremely tough on your car's transmission and the low fare on these short rides will not compensate for the cost you are incurring whether you realize it or not.
Not goona lie, I got a little nervous when I saw your title. I'm glad I clicked on it. As always thank you for the encouragement. God Bless :D
LOL, didn't mean to get you shook. It's just content that had to be published :-)
It's been non-stop BS driving for them, trying to get paid, drunk passengers reporting that I'm drunk when I haven't even been drinking which blocks me from driving for 48 hours... Etc...
I plan for Uber's to make between 15 and $25 a day. $15 * 7 is $100 a week. If I make $25 every day that is $750 per month very simple I'm trading time for money
A game plan is a great start. Thanks for commenting.
Great points from Chicago
Amen to that Calvin ✌
Thanks for commenting Paula.
this might seem like an odd question, but what is the font name you used for creating the lower thirds in this video?
It's called "Offset". It's a 2D title inside of Final Cut Pro X.
Thanks from Chicago,IL
Awesome!
I’ve driven 7000 trips with Uber and these days. It is just a horrible scam here in Phoenix.
Valuable as always. However, if you're driving 60-70hrs per week - and rideshare is NOT your full time job, you're not hustling - you're grinding. Ridesharing/gig economy was not meant to be full-time. Hustling has to do with your ability to offer value for money OTHER than ridesharing and your knowledge of business development (which Calvin clearly has). If you're 'really' hustling you're consistently out-earning full time drivers week in and week out driving much less.
Your title fooled me😂😂😂. Thought you were going to DOG Uber out. Good stuff 👍!
DukeOfEarl/UberTips&Tricks LOL, nope. Just bringing those in the dark into the light 😃
Well done as always.
On point.
Great information. Thanks
happynaptural5 No problem.
I think I'm in a big trouble, I didn't pass 6 out of the 9, I'm doing Uber XL / SELECT / COMFORT
and Lyft sometime
Yes, always great stuff!!
RKF Search Results THANK YOU 🙂
50 cents per mile before tax its enough reason for you not to drive for Uber or Lyft.
Driving is not the only income source available on this platform. ua-cam.com/video/SGRIQHkvH3Q/v-deo.html
well said
EXACTLY!!!
Yesss
Hey bro I use to follow you back in 2014 and yes Rideshare was great back then but it is no longer great anymore
I say this is only good Part time to supplement income now
PS @thesimpledriver are you still doing Your other channel? Publish ?
Great comment. I starting to Crank Up "Power of Publish" now :-) ua-cam.com/users/powerofpublish
Love this guy videos, he inspired me to do more with my Uber business so I created an App for my Uber passengers to connect with the city I'm in called Checago Coffee App helps people in this city locate and support local coffee shops and other businesses. Please check out more of his videos to grow your Uber business as well
Shawn Hawthorne That is Super awesome. I love reading comments like yours. CONGRATS!!!🎊🎈🎉🍾
Thank you.
Excellent video have you ever heard of a Uber or Lyft driver getting audited just curious
Thanks. No, I haven't heard of that. You have?
The same can be said for Lyft.
Thank you. That was refreshing.
That Driver Guy You are welcome.
I love this, thank you
True...that’s why I haven’t done it in a while..wasn’t worth it
Doesn't work for everybody. Thanks for commenting.
and you forgot to mention about, how many drivers in your area too, nowadays there is too many ride share drivers
Control freak! Right here. I do UE. I have to deal with customers that sound surprised I'm there, after I knock on the door, message and call them. Hello? You just ordered food 20 mins ago.
Desert Love 😂
Been driving 4 years great vid 👊🏿
Thx
Uber is a full-time job you have to work 60 to 70 hours a week in order to make money.
Uber is not a job. It's a business.
@@TheSimpleDriver True . Uber is great for entrepreneurs.
Uber is THE WORST GREEDY business in U.S. history,
Never again
At a 30% cut Uber's making out like Bandits Robbing hard-working driver damages their health sitting in a tight space for hours developing blood clots, focus problems nervous condition or back problems.. my poor Uber and Lyft drivers friends tell me so
How will be able to afford new cars for cheap Uber?
Uber sucks, doing it right now and this is the worst
You’re the best Calvin. What do you know about CargoBox for Uber? #9 way to make $ or an additional pain in the ass?
See you later at streetdreams...
m brooks Thanks. I just received an email from them. I’ll have more information about them in about a week. May do business with them.
Can you make a video on how to save money while in the road
I'll try to get to it :-)
Tell it like it is.
If you want to make an Update to this video I have several Back to Back stories that also prove how terrible their driver support is
Good points ... gotta be smart tho
Thanks. True.
Second
Good on u bro u realize now I would never drive Uber o lift do ur homework
Maschine team
Jamal Cole no doubt.
how is uber for retirees who are looking for $500/week
Depends on the market, season, etc
Basically you are saying there is simply everything to lose and very little to gain!
Nothing basic about this video. Watch it again, then read the comments, then watch my other videos. There is a TON to gain on the Uber platform.
You know what man I did believed in Uber not once or twice but 3 and 4 times, for awhile it was good, I keep my head down just treat it as a business, and a job! I rent cars from their partners, for a while they cover all my expenses like rental even gas sometimes, but then one day all the sudden they took everything away, I mean everything at once, now it don’t even make sense to drive for them no more!
MY FATHER WAS A CABI ITS HERESY!!!
when the referral money dries up.
First comment ✊🏿
The six figure guy in his first year! All ears...
Learn how to stay on topic. Somehow this is why we go to school to get trained to be logical and on point. 10 reasons not to do it. So just go ahead and state the reasons and elaborate and move on. Instead, you're trying to give advice on how to do well driving for uber.. contradicting yourself. You simply don't know what you're talking about.
Stop driving people. Leave that for the taxis. Deliver food. Plenty of food delivery platforms now. It pays more and better tips.
Great comment. It's an opinion though. There are plenty of drivers who are crushing it without delivering food. It's just a preference at this point.
@@TheSimpleDriver I was referring to the "witching hour". Let the drunken dooshbags puke and cause trouble in the taxis.
I switch to eats at 10pm
All you had to say was: if you don't have the mind of self-employed then don't drive for Uber. And you are not a coach either. Terrible!!!
Megayugas unus If that’s your reality. Over 80,000 Subscribers & Millions of views on my videos says otherwise. Perception or reality?
@@TheSimpleDriver because they don't know. They let them step into BS
Uber is not a business 😒 its ride share, do it as an emergency source of income, at current rates its hard to earn a living.
That comment is why you don't earn six-figures on the platform. You have to change your mindset. Uber is 100% a BUSINESS. "Rideshare" is just the business model. You are a business owner. If you don't know that it why you are missing a minimum of $50K a year in tax deductions, business write-offs, B2B and more... You don't have to listen to me though.
Agreed! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
😂👍🏾
If someone left something behinds n they lyk 30 mins or more, they d have to come get their own stuff or pay me 2 bring me
Simi B Rob 😂
We you not one trying get everyone drive for uber now you saying g not to
MickNJ1979 Did you watch the entire video? 👀
Getting way too close to your camera there bruh.
I like changing things up Samuel.
"when I was driving" - 4 yrs ago lol
J 3030 You can’t drive forever. At some point to need to exercise your exit plan. If you don’t have one it’s a mistake. One I mention in one of my recent videos.
The Simple Driver keep referring people to drive while collecting referral money
You don't have that income stream in your Uber business right now? It one of 8 ways to get paid.
The Simple Driver again, keep leading people into the BS that is driving
This video is really late.
Francisco Lopez Is it though?
@@TheSimpleDriver Yes, about 5 years. No one wants to drive for Uber anymore with rates so low more people starting to realize that it's a suckers bet. You end up losing money in the long run.
Francisco Lopez All the more reason to watch this video and pay attention to 8,9 & 10. I agree with you. It’s not as easy as it was in 2016 or 2017, but it’s still a TON of money for those who run an optimized business!!
@@TheSimpleDriver It's not a matter of how easy or difficult it is. It's a mattee of the math not adding up. I have driven in both LA and SF over 11K trips in the past two years. Driving for .68 per mile in SF is a losing game and will cost you more than you make. All drivers understand this quite well. Hence the reason Uber/Lyft lose 96% of drivers in the first 3 months.
Francisco Lopez WOW, that’s your problem. 11K trips?? 😳😳 All you did is Drive! Where is your other 7 income streams? Where is your passive income? If you don’t know what I’m talking about go and watch this video (ALL OF IT) ua-cam.com/video/A33UkeHxCdM/v-deo.html. Successful Uber BUSINESS owners don’t care about cents and miles and JUST driving, that’s trading time for money and it’s nonsense. You drove for wayyyyy to long bro’. You didn’t do things correctly and it cost you a ton of TIME, MILES, WEAR & TEAR on you and you vehicle.
