Dude this is crazy, I just subbed last night, but I found you on a quest for airbrushing black armor! I went 5-1 at LVO w deathwatch and gotta paint some dreads and repex’s before Cherokee tourney this weekend. I’ve also started doing commission work - mostly simple stuff like getting armies battle ready for tourneys and airbrush base layer & highlighting work for my team members. Anyways, you have one of the best teaching styles I’ve seen on here! I just recently got an ultra 2024 and the bumpers + army painter triad have just been a dream making it easy to do killer stuff from the start. I’m a photographer professionally so already have a head start on understanding light and composition, but ya, you are def my fav creator I’ve found for airbrushing!
Fantastic painting tutorial here. With all the time that you've had with the Fanatics range, what would you think would work as a solid recipe for painting Metallic black armor? While I don't use an airbrush it wouldn't be as much of an issue retranslating the color choices towards painting with traditional bristle brush techniques. I'm currently shopping around for some new paints (all the old ones I have dried out, and have basically be rendered useless). The next big project I want to work on is my Army of the Inquisition force which will use metallic black (or matt black for some things), dark teal, and steel with yellow or red accents....I will use these colors for all the armies that will be apart of the Inquisition (Agents, Marines (custom chapter, deathwatch rules), and sisters), but the main color will shift based off the faction. The metallic black is for my marines (also for Pre-heresy Iron Hands). Keep up the awesome work, have a great year.
Great video! Very helpful for my new Raven Guard army. Can you suggest paint/wash alternatives that aren’t from the fanatic range? Not sure I can wait until April to get started 😅. Thanks.
Thanks for this! My question would be, can you sponge paint a model like this and get a similarly excellent result? I was very impressed with your White Scar lesson and now that you’ve done whites in sponge… how do you do blacks? :)
That's a great question. Ya know I think you could but I think you'd have to keep the highlights super tight. I would probably use blueish greys rather than putting a filter layer over the top though. Hope that helps!
for an iron hands mini, would you mess with metallics in the hightlight/pre-blue tone parts? trying to figure out an iron hands scheme that has some visual interest and this one on the video is a very nice airbrush black 😅
Some of the best tutorials on UA-cam. Keep the content coming.
I appreciate that! Thanks so much for commenting!
You're a maniac. Someone call the police and put this man behind bars! These tutorials are too amazing to be true! ;)
