Yep, this was part of a development deal Farquhar had at the time with Moesha under development while this was in production. Both shows were pitched to CBS, CBS wanted changes to South Central to more comedy like Good Times, Furquhar wanted this version and Fox gave it a chance. Many of the writers from this show went to write for Moesha and The parkers.
This is great. It reminds me of watching old shows when I’m as growing up. Find somebody episodes of lost shows. Like Roc & Homeroom. Thanks for the Nostalgia
Thanks for posting the unseen episodes ! I was a baby in 93 I caught reruns on tvone and honestly I felt bad for Joan 😑 Tasha was so rude and ungrateful ! The way they treated Joan sometimes was disgusting ! She was a grown man 😮
Yes same! I was born in late 93 and my mom watched it when it was on the air then she put me on to it in 2011 on tv one. I’m so happy to see these episodes. I met Clifton Powell at the Mgm last yr in Maryland and spoke to him about this show when we were sitting at the bar. He was in awe!
That would have been a good crossover as both shows took place in the same region of LA. South Central in the poor area, Moesha in the bougie area. But I am sure like with The Game and Girlfriends, the creators took the attitude of two different shows, two different worlds but the same creative team on both shows.
@@rikabbyify I saw so many storylines for this show to include the Mosley family being faced with eviction and Joan having to struggle to stop it. Tasha gets accepted into an academic program which sends her across town to a nicer area for school and you see how she has to deal with being the poor girl among the bougie girls which creates resentment back at home, Andre thinking he will graduate but forgot he failed four classes that he never made up and has to come clean on not being able to walk. I would have gotten rid of that damn crack baby, there was no need for him.
This show was epic they don't bring realness the TV like they used to anymore I came up on this show and The Cosby Show a different world even though I'm an 80s baby the early 90s was lit
Cast Michael Beach as Isaiah Washington Lamont Bentley as Rashad Earl Billings as Mayo Bonner Maia Campbell as Nicole Paula Kelly as Sweets Tina Lifford as Joan Mosley Keith Mbulo as Deion Mosley Ken Page as Ray McHenry Clifton Powell as Bobby Deavers Tasha Scott as Tasha Mosley Larenz Tate as Andre Mosley
Fun fact: if you ever seen the movie Tim Burton's The nightmare before Christmas Ray McHenry who was Ken Paige was the voice of the main villain The Oogie Boogie man.
Omg thank you so much for finding and uploading this episode!!!! My mom watched this show when it first aired when I was an infant. She put me on when they reran them on TV one when I was in high school.
I understand both sides. Joan wants to rejuvenate her social life, but at the same time, she has to set a good precedent for her children, especially her daughter.
Thanks so much ppl been asking for the upload for these 2 episodes for ages and you came through in the cluth💯hey would happend to have a movie called Divas it was a Fox TV movie with Khalil kain(Raheem from juice) recorded somewhere?? no one seems to have that one
No problem fam glad I to be able to provide these... Who knew at the time when I was recording that these would end up lost forever... Unfortunately I dont have the divas movie tho.
I can really relate to Joan in this episode as a guy. You meet a great woman who really likes you but its just not the right time in your life. It can be painful but needed to make the decision she made. I had way too much going on in my life to even want to risk bringing a good woman around to possibly ruin her along the way.
it just wasn't happening simply put. It was actually boycotted by the naacp for promoting negative views of black life (old stereotypes they felt were often too recycled) so...that didn't help. Along with not being a strong contender up against In Living Color, Martin, Married...With Children and The Simpsons. There was no way for it to stand, Roc gets mentioned often but it was too dramatic as well. "too urban" is an excuse we throw around alot but the truth is Martin, Living Single and In Living Color were far from "Straight" or "conservative". Matter of fact, the FOX network was built on the most non-conventional shows in tv history, Married with children built that network LITERALLY! along with Tracy Ullman, the simpsons and In Living Color. Once you get to the late 90's and "Married" went off the air that void had to be filled and in comes That 70's Show, Titus was a ballsy risk but i dont think america was ready for that type of comedic transparency (mental health and generational trauma and abuse discussion in an early George W. Bush era america). Some times it's just a timing thing.
Isiah was such an a**hole to Joan when he first met her ! To “own” all those properties he sure was tight about his about his money in the Co-op ! Joan should’ve kept it pushing ! If I was Ray I would’ve left the whole family alone!
Wow, the nostalgia I feel right now. I watched every single episode of this show back when it was on tv in the 90’s. Sweets looks like the cool Auntie that been to prison, sold crack and did hair in her kitchen
Bruh they got Chauncey too. It’s always dope seeing these shows and movies that took place in 90s LA. Imagine a shared universe between the popular 90s media.
Wow. Her kids showed her who run the household smh. Joan deserves a love life too. Next time do like I do and wait for them kids to either go to bed...go to school...or get a sitter and go to his place.
The mom was TERRIBLE! She didn’t take care of Deion any during 10 episodes and forced him on the other kids (mainly Tasha). She worse than Florida Evans
16:53 Tasha and Andre are really jealous of their divorced mother who dating a man. This is their mom's private life. That's really none of Tasha's and Andre's business.
If they would've left out the jokes and made this a drama it would have lasted. It touched on way too many real subjects to b a comedy. It wasn't funny. It was real. Same thing with roc
The problem I see here is that the setting is interesting, the vibe is nice, but no idea who the target audience was. For teenagers it was too tame. The focus is on the mom. So „the boys from the hood“ would not have been invested. Is it for families or housewives? Being much better constructed, this could’ve easily been a smaller hit show for 5 seasons
True story she was miserable... as the baby of the family she was probably used to getting her way until Deion came along. To bad they pulled the plug on this show, it would have been interesting to see where it went
Tasha was a young teenage girl with adult responsibilities. Being a teenager is tough & emotions are hard to manage. She was a true representation of a girl from the hood. How she felt is valid.
Joan is your mom yall are not grown growing up where stayed moms would had knocked your behind a kitchen table education. They are in charge single or married

@GSU2004 and if you really think about it, season 1 of Moesha actually looks almost identical to the South Central series.
@@gerawallstar3487 my point..almost a continuation with a teen girl from the UPPER middle class instead of a teen boy LOWER class...✌🏾
