I absolutely love your videos! My dad enjoyed coming up with clever low-cost fixes at his workbench too. He is no longer with us, but now I've got you. Thank you so much!
Great idea. I did this three years ago with mine. I designed a couple pieces in CAD and had them laser cut. I used a bronze bushing in larger stainless disc, more like your old snowblower you were reminiscing about.
Wow the auger on that snowbird definitely wouldn't pass the safety lawyers today. Interesting how you solved the bolt head on the back issue, I've been thinking about doing the same with inline skate wheels, might borrow your idea.
Thnx. Ya, we have metric and fractional here in stores. They're sold that was M9, M10 etc. It is 10mm but to purchase it in a hardware store you'd ask for an M10.
Yes I could. The shoes were bolted flat against the blower originally so I wondered if washers would cause the shoes to rock and loosen over time. Probably not but I had the 1/4" plate so I used it instead.
Great idea, excited to hear how they work…if you ever get any snow 😂 It was cool seeing the snowbird as well…did you get rid of one or both of them? I can’t remember if one was a parts one or if they both were 😂
Thanks for the lauph, of the dirty on your upper lips and nose. lol I thought for second, you were growing a 5 o-clock shadow only in one area. lol lol
I would have liked that but the shoe sits flush against the side of the blower and bolts on. No room for it and the shoe to sit securely flat. If I had cut into the plastic I could have recessed it 1/4" more though. And if I had mounted it alone on the inside of the housing I would have had to drill into the blower to do that potentially negating the warranty. So I opted to abandon that tact.
Just as spitting is frowned upon on Arrakis as it is considered a waste of precious water, farting in Maine is considered a waste of precious heat. You can do it but it could be a matter of life and death. 💨

Thanks for this great video!
My pleasure!
“M10… I think that’s 10 mm” - how to tell me you’re American without telling me you’re American! 😂 Cool idea though, might try it on mine.

Couldn’t you have used some washers for spacers instead of the diamond plate

The snowbird I got rid of in 2001. Then the ariens then.
These look awesome! I don't have the tools but would you consider making a pair of these for sale?
Sorry, I posted them for anyone who wanted to make them one was enough.

Ya... happens to me all the time if grinding or welding. I sometimes get metal soot all over my face.
Can you put the wheel on the inside?

Did this gentleman pass gas at 6:55 into the video? If he did, I want to congratulate him!
