Bypassing Temperature Sensors on an Electric Stove Burner
Got a new GE electric stove. New rules say that they have to have sensors to stop excessive temperatures to protect against any stove fires. A bimetallic switch on the burner turns off and on to keep the temperature in check. The only problem is that it turns it off too much. I'm operating and turning them into the original style burner by bypassing the sensor in in the element.

    Hello, what you call the current from the battery is the energy content, Amp- Hours. A battery has essentially constant voltage,56V in this case, and produces the current required by the system.Ask for more power and the current increases. IRL, the voltage drops slightly with increased current output. The power is the product of voltage times current. The larger, higher amp-hour, batteries have more energy so last longer for the same demand.

    I've enjoyed your ongoing reviews on the Ego 28 inch snowblower and has helped me decide to take the plunge into a battery powered snowblower . I have a question pertaining to purchase. I noticed on Amazon there is three options for your battery choice. The second option which caught my eye was four 10 amp hour batteries with two Chargers for a price $200 less then the top option of two 12 amp hour batteries. Now that you have used the 12 amp hour batteries in your situation would you recommend getting the four 10 amp hour batteries at the savings of $200 over the two 12 amp hour battery option? Thank you

      @CraftsmanontheLake 2 дні тому

      I have never seen it with 4 batteries. It comes as a bare tool or two 12ah. You may be looking at their smaller two stage blower. It has a few different configurations. The 24" model number starts with '24' instead of '28'. And, if possible I'd consider buying it from someplace more local like an Ace hardware or Lowes. The price won't be different and you might save shipping charges. Plus you can bring it back if something isn't right out of the box. And even though Lowes is iffy for questions and service I understand Ace can be pretty good that way depending on the ownership. Also, 10% off if you are a Vet or maybe have one in the family at Lowes.

    Solder, rubber cover for connector, and heat shrink don't work on this high heat element. There is also no need of grinder. Cover easily opened with Plier by bending the sides.

    • @CraftsmanontheLake
      @CraftsmanontheLake 19 днів тому

      It's working! The center part doesn't get hot enough to melt the solder. And the fiberglash sheath and heat shrink tubing are made to withstand heat. I'm going to do the rest with ceramic wire nuts as I mentioned in the video after connecting and tinning the wires. When you take the cap off from teh top it has two springs along the side. If you lift the top up enough to get to the underneath to work on the sensor it extends the springs on the sides and they're shot after that. The cap just lays flat on the top or is tilted because of the stress on the springs.

    Snow season is back. Thanks for the great video. I have used your experience to get the 24" with 2 x 10 Ah batteries for this winter to replace my very inexpensive Snow Joe snow thrower and am looking forward to something with actual power. As for the batteries, they should last well over 8 years. If you keep them well (probably best to store and charge them in the house) they will degrade and lose capacity but there's no reason they should fail. That doesn't mean none will ever fail of course, but I have had the Ego lawnmower with the 7.5 Ah battery for 8 or 9 years now and it still has about 50% capacity when I am done my lawn. It's just nice that they always start, are way quieter, and you don't stink of exhaust when you are done. There's a cost premium but hopefully there will be more competition in this space to drive the cost down. Ego charges a LOT for the batteries on their own the profit margins on them are huge.

    • @CraftsmanontheLake
      @CraftsmanontheLake 26 днів тому

      Well, lithium maintains about 90% capacity over it's lifetime, then they die suddenly. Nine or 10 yrs possible but you too are now part of the 'science experiment' so we can only hope.

      I actually considered it but decided they were on the wrong track and probably won't last in that form for long. If Tesla decided to put an electric motor in a chevy, connecting to the transmission it would have been strange. An electric car doesn't need a transmission. It has smooth acceleration on it's own and to reverse it reverse the polarity. The transmission would be unneeded and a waste of energy. Toro took an existing blower and just made an electric motor to replace the gas one. All the mechanism can be eliminated and yet they kept it. Some people say it's a tried and true mechanism. It actually a bunch of unnecesary parts.. The fact that it's there is rather bizarre in the electric tool/vehicle world. But it might still work good. I have no idea.

    • @CraftsmanontheLake
      @CraftsmanontheLake Місяць тому

      Yes, that's true. the battery cost is an issue. Not so much if they last a number of years. But, right now they cost a bit less for this reason. Now that I have a set of gas tanks, they fit in the bare tool commercial leaf blower. I no longer use a rake or haul leaves anyplace. So, this added use kind of cuts the battery cost in half as the gas tanks are moveable from one tool to another. Anyway, the tools work good but they will cost more in the long run than gas units. It's the convenience that is nice. You should check out the complete video.

I am Paying close attention because I have built RC Airplane parts, covering skins and stuff out of firberglass and have before seen epoxy go soft from too much hardner so I have always mixed my fiberglass "light" on the hardner and used a heat gun OR lesser heat sources to finish the resin cure. Never had any glass go soft and some of my stuff like an RC sailboat, is 35 years old. I am very interested to know your observations on mixing resin, maybe you might be encouraged to use polyester resin again shorting the hardner and using heat to make up the difference on new projects. Be encouraged, you can do it.

      Hi there. Are you sure you're commenting on this or any of the videos I've done. I didn't use epoxy or fiberglass on this.

      @CraftsmanontheLake Hello remember the fiberglass boat you talked about went soft because you used too much hardner. I figured these things out 40 years ago building rc gliders and using epoxy which is like polyester resin. I saw then an old glider where in the nose assembly epoxy turned dark and soft. So then if I did any fiberglass I remembered and would always use about %85 or %90 of recommended hardner and finish cure with heat. Now I really like that bass raider but had been thinking about a fiberglass version of my own, but this one is just too nice and good price too.

    Superb review! Subbed and thumbs up - I ended up getting the ego 800cfm backpack but w/ 2 6ah batts b/c I couldn’t afford the commercial unit with the 12 ah ones but people near me sell batteries all the time so sometimes I find ego batteries on the cheap. I’m just gonna pick up an extra 4ah and swap out to those and keep swapping

    "Simplicity" yet you already have a cabin on the lake? This boomer is just board. This whole simplicity thing is nonsense. It's just a coverup for building a shiity trailer.

    Should the heat setting change the speed of the blower for the heat distribution?

    • @CraftsmanontheLake
      @CraftsmanontheLake Місяць тому

      @@bigdog0u81 mine does not but some do the blower runs at the same speed and you control it with a vent that you can open or close either fully or partially. Some stove though along with the pellet drop speed changing also change the combustion blower speed.

      @CraftsmanontheLake I was just wondering I have Eviro WH-EMPRESS and the fan increase the speed with the heat level and makes noise when it gets to the higher levels. I'm thinking it's going to need replaced soon.

      Are you talking about the combustion blower? The snail shaped one on the left or the long narrow squirrel cage one on the upper right? That one usually tweets when it's going bad. The combustion blower bearings sound is deeper or even growling. Anyway. Two wires and four bolts. Best if you can disconnect, pull all of the doors/top and such off and lay it on it's front to do it. Be carful of the cleaning rod on the front if you lay it down as it can get bent if it pulls out.

      @@CraftsmanontheLake the long blower. I pulled it out and cleaned it and it's still making the noise.

      @CraftsmanontheLake Місяць тому

      @@bigdog0u81 The convecton blower will often be replaced more than the combustion blower. The long one is not oilable. If it's making a noise it is replaced. The sound is most often a chirping sound that gets worse over time.

    Love these videos you make regarding the Bass Raider. I just got one and wanna incorporate some of your handiwork into mine. The t-track...I can see all sorts of uses for this already and plan to install it, at least on one side. Why didn't you use the exploding rivets that you showed on another video? I am planning to mount the fish finder, my phone and even some pole holders, and the exploding rivets look to be a lot sturdier and able to withstand pressure much more effectively than the self-tapping screws. Regarding the t-track, are there styles/brands that you like/dislike for this application? They really gotta be trustworthy as I don't want a catchfish hookup to yank these out of the track.

      Hi, thanks! I didn't use the exploding rivets in the t-track because the stainless screwss seemed to be just fine. Plus I put a bead of silicon underneath each track to stick it and to make sure water didn't get into the screw areas. Silicon glues pretty good on plastic/metals. that along with the screws seems fine. And getting rivets with holes that small are not easy to find if available at all. T track is expensive. I found some decent ones for a better price on Amazon. And yes I've already moved a bunch of stuff around as I find it more convenient to be on the left or right or further forward or backward. The t-track makes that possible. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BGH6R6HD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
