Ciara always makes me feel better when I hobby as I always have a few scoops to steady the hand and get the brain going, and it's good to see that's what the professionals do as well
Nice little board and demonstration of some basic techniques. It is a good example of getting something playable and presentable in a decent amount of time. Ciara's excitement over the sparkly bits, and random little dance reminded me of a friend of mine. :)
To get that glow effect on necrons I like to paint the source of the glow (the indents) white and then I get kinda sloppy with a watered down bright yellow green paint. The source naturally gets brighter because its going over white and the spillover becomes a darker "glow" around the edges
This was awesome. Hopefully you do more like a lava board, forest board etc for other factions. Very simple and quick. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work.
Dear Ollie & Ciara, Very Informative. Hearing Ciara's accent always reminds me of my cousins in Balbriggan! Best Wishes and regards to you both, Johnny.
I found the best way to make terrain glow is to use some diluted Liquitex Titanium white ink, then spray whatever translucent paint I want on top for color.
Lovely board! I like the Scenics stuff--if only for the fact I don't have to paint it to get it to look good. I've kinda been thinking about giving my necrons a quartz mica-looking base or possible rock salt/halitite base treatment though I am not sure how long the latter might stand up to time and wear.
For the road, I think the move would have been to use some moot green for the lines or maybe something a touch darker, and then airbrush some tesseract glow to really make the glow pop. Great board! Got a lot of ideas for some Legion terrain I want to make! Geek Gaming Scenic here I come!
I sell it on my store (link on description), but most shops will do it. Art shops, kids supplies, supermarkets.. Any pva glue will do :) Kids glue is a watered down version, which is fine.
Great build. Just goes to show you don't have to sink endless hours in to a project to have something really playable. Love the green crystals in the black sand as well!
Cool video but I am not a fan of depending on specialty crafting products (Geek Gaming Scenics) when you can make your own with a little extra effort. Did you guys get all these products for free? Sculptamold can be recreated with toilet paper, plaster, a little salt (to make it harden faster) and the most important ingredient; very hot water. If you add dark paint and some glue to the mix, it will be less likely to crack, and if it does, you will not have white spots where it did. I have been experimenting with making my own "base-ready rock stuff" but I can't recommend a technique yet.
you do realize they SELL these products in their store, no? :P anyways, i totally agree that sculptamold is super easy to make yourself - i do it too, using toilet paper and plaster. not sure why you want to make it dry faster though? mine starts to dry after 5 minutes, i'd rather that it took LONGER to dry! :D oh, and i've done my own rocks as well! take 3 sheets of aluminium foil (or more if you want it sturdier) and glue them together with some super glue, then fold them a few times to make some hard lines into, then crinkle it up to a desired effect - bam, you've got yourself some really nice rock molds! it's nice if you want a big flat wall of rock, or if you want smaller, more bespoke rocks you can shape the aluminium a bit more.
Cool video and the board ended up gorgeous, but hey, messing around with all kinds of gravel and airbrushes without masks made my watch like this 👀👀👀 Watch out for your health, people!
I am crazy or was there no decent zoomed out shot of the finished board? Looks really good, but, kinda disappointing in that aspect. Unless I'm wrong, then please correct me!
This is a Killteam board, 22x30 inches. It has rock faces in-built, using rock molds and plaster, along with an added road so the rest of the baord is modular. What is clickbait about that! 🙄
Please don’t make a terrain board in 2 hours please or it’s gunna look like garbage like this. I’m sorry it isn’t particularly nice but you can either waste two hours making an eye sore or spend 10 hours and maybe make something genuinely nice to look at.
“Garbage eyesore”? Wow, tell them how you really feel. Maybe you should do your own video on a 10 hour board build and show that off. In other words, put up or shut up.
If you're looking for some hugely impressive build, 10 hours is not going to get you very far. I do have other videos on the channel for that. :) I am trying to help people who haven't tried this before, and hopefully people can gain a little confidence in their skills. You (with this comment) on the other hand, do the opposite and help nobody! Good job.
i thought the video was going to be like "We drove up to Bespoke Minis Gaming Boards Ltd. and picked up our order , the journey was 1 hour each way.."
Haha! That'd have been class.

Don't want to make a board, but has given me some ideas on making a small display for my painted minis.
That's awesome! Yeah, the techniques used here are really easy and don't require much time to do. Give it a go.
Yay it Ciara! I love her ❤️🥰🐶
Thank you , Broadsword .
Cheers Ciara , 🙂 .

GJ Ciara! Looking great! 👌🏻👌🏻
Great stuff
Looks great, good job guys
That turned out a treat. Simple and very very effective.
Thanks man! 😀

That's insanity for 2 hours .. looks awesome :D
Looks great! Any chance to share a link to where the 3d printed road/terrain is from?
Ah, I can't remember you know. I got this years ago! ☹️
Dear Ollie & Ciara, Very Informative. Hearing Ciara's accent always reminds me of my cousins in Balbriggan! Best Wishes and regards to you both, Johnny.
Thanks so much! 😀
Looks good! I purchased a big plastic backed canvas to make some mats, but I'm trying to finish some models before starting another terrain project.
I found the best way to make terrain glow is to use some diluted Liquitex Titanium white ink, then spray whatever translucent paint I want on top for color.
Bravo!
Very cool board. Love the black sand(?) with the green crystal bits in it!
Thanks! 😀 It's pretty nice to have in store, the black is quite striking.

That'd be interesting! I really like the necron tombsorld ground cover for mine, but I'm lazy! Haha
@@BroadswordWargaming I totally get that. Necrons were supposed to be my lazy army too. 😉

Looks really cool! Would love to make my own proper board in the future. But my apartment is pretty small so I will have to stick to mats for now 😅
One day! 💪
This makes my little custom decorated miniature bases to look kind of sad. I use some of your same techniques and materials. Fun!
Where do people find PVA glue? Is there any other good substitutes?
I sell it on my store (link on description), but most shops will do it. Art shops, kids supplies, supermarkets.. Any pva glue will do :) Kids glue is a watered down version, which is fine.

The volcanic island ready base reminds me of Oreo crumbles. That board made me hungry! Necrons!!!
I could destroy some oreos

Try to do it for Infinity instead, 40k require few board element.
The only thing more overdone and clunky than an Infinity board is it’s rule system.

How to make a board in 2 days 😂
The actual board was built, live on stream, in under 2 hours. You just have to wait for it to dry. 😀

Can I buy you guys a bigger glue brush? You need one. That’s a lot of glue to spread out with that tiny brush.
Haha, yes!
