Justine.
Merci.

Justine, recently I had a job interview with a major retailer of high-end sunglasses. In my interview I mentioned your video and what I learned from watching it. I walked out the interview with an offering for a managerial position: I start next week. I felt like I had to thank you because I'm sure what I mentioned made an impact during my interview. Alors, merci Justine! :)

Im Sure im Heart shape and i love it Because i love The Classic aviators and fit me well and i also love my rounds.
But helping People with ublong faces can be tricky and also with small faces so understanding All and see which glass es work for each person Its a miracle

Justine Leconte officiel Great tips but in my case I have small oval face so bigger frames just slide right off my face esp plastic frames. For prescription glasses I go for rimless on the bottom and glasses with nose pads. Usually they're only a small handful of frames at the eye Dr that won't fall off my face so I have limited choices 😳. New sub 💘 your channel. Cheers to more subs 🍻

Hi Justine, I always enjoy watching your videos, but this one bugged me! I have 5 years of experience as a stylist for glasses and there are some key points missing in my opinion! 1. When you go for an acetate (or plastic) frame it should ALWAYS fit your nose perfectly, otherwise it will slide down anyway. 2. The frames should NEVER touch your cheeks, because this will cause the lenses to fog up when you wear them. 3. Eyebrows should always be visible above the frames (except when you buy the huge designer sunglasses, of course). 4. The size of the front of the frame is defined by the position your eyes have; the eyes should always be in centre like this: [ 0 ], and not like this [0 ], because you will look silly and it will most likely cause a distorted view with your prescription. Only when these key points are correct you can consider the shape of the actual frame.

Lianne Schoot these are logistical points, which are very important and of course precede choosing face-shape compatibility. But Justine's advice is primarily aesthetic, and is assumed to be taken AFTER what you've mentioned has been completed.

That is so old, that the frames have to be under your eyebrows! Look at Jackie O. And other hip dressers.

    • @nursen2106

e.g. I only need sunglasses and not always I want to buy highpriced ones. still the question what fits me in the sense of look, is important for me. for a while very square like glasses where in fashion and I had a hard time to find fitting ones. a lot of people said to me, they don't think that this can be. still I should be able to find glasses easily and that is all in my head.... this video proves to me, that it is not. of course a specialist can help you more in detail AND I know from my sister who needs to wear glasses all the time (and thick glasses too), that one learns by experience a bit better, what fits the nose and why some fog up more easily - STILL they can go and wear the wrong shape of glasses for years and years till some convinces them to try a different one (or fashion changes in a way that by chance you pick a model that is slightly different and fitting).
So, what I wanted to say anyway - this video is about shapes in general. if it someone wanted to cover all other factors in all variations in just one video it might be a very long. (maybe as long as your lessens took, as you had learned it.?)

According to this, my ideal glasses shape for my face (diamond) are half-frames... which is interesting because I've been choosing half-frame glasses for at least the past 10 years! I've also done color analyses for my season and such (my best friend was a theatre costuming major and they did this in their fashion class) and I couldn't help but notice that my palette based on my season analysis was full of colors that I naturally gravitate towards when I buy clothes. I think it's super interesting how we can identify these thing subconsciously!

When I saw this is your new video, I was so excited to watch it. I have been short-sighted for over 13 years and no one has ever told me as much information on glasses as you have just done. I started using contact lenses coz Im not confident wearing glasses. Those I bought long ago dont fit me well (even people say) and I just gave up looking for those right ones. And opticians just advise: choose the ones you like. I am so glad for such info, really thanks :-)

I have worn glasses since I was two years old, and I have actually developed a 'dip' in the bone where the bridge sits. Very useful to prevent my glasses from sliding down my nose, but it makes it look like I broke it... there's a bit of a bulge there.
Love your channel, by the way! I've recently started to lose weight - dropping from an european 52 to a 48/46, and still going! - and now that i'm in the 'edge' of what's considered plus size and normal range here in my country I feel that I can finally start looking for actual good clothes that fit my style instead of hoarding stuff that I don't like just because it fits me. Your videos are really helping me in this regard! Very informative and well thought out.
But I'd like to ask if you have any advice on altering/fitting clothes - I have some pieces that I love and would like to adjust when my weight loss is over, but i'm not sure if it's a good idea or how to approach that or how much fitting would be too much - like, if there's going to be a point where it's just not worth it because it's not going to look good.
Thank you so much!! Greetings from Brazil!

Hi Justine, could you do a video on color/pattern combinations when it comes to clothing? I know you've done a video on which color looks good on who, but could you do one on color (and/or pattern) when it comes to wardrobe and outfit planning? @eizhowa 7 років тому +4

I agree. I work within the fashion industry and am constantly expected to be creative when creating outfits for clients. But so often I hear things like "no, no, navy and black shouldn't match" or "no way red and pink can be a thing" ... of course it's a personal preference thing, but I believe seeing how other people do it can inspire as well :) And who better than Justine :D

    Great video! :)
I'd like to mention, by choosing the color of the glasses not only the undertone and the wardrobe will have an influence but also the color of your eyes. E.g. wearing usually black colors and having dark hair too, you need a pop of color in accessories. Nothing better for this reasons your glasses. If you have e.g. green eyes and blue undertone, a cherry red or bluish/purpleish frame will serve great. It goes well with your skin and enhance the color of your eyes too. For blue eyes and blue undertone purple and green works very well. For brown eyes, which is a jolly joker, works everything well as it will not have as much influence for the other colors to consider. I mean you just need to consider the skin- and hairtone and the style and color of your wardrobe.

    Justine,
You are very well researched on this subject! I just want to add, for glasses wearers that are concerned about the size (thickness) of their lenses; the smaller the area of your glasses the thinner the lenses will look. This is for nearsighted people only.

    • @justineleconte
      @justineleconte  7 років тому

thanks for adding this point in. I am very nearsighted and as we say in France, my lenses are "as thick as the bottom of a wine bottle" ;-)

This was by far the best glasses shape video I've watched, and I've watched a lot of them. The extra tips were so so helpful and I know exactly what to look for when I start browsing for new glasses. Thank you!!!

I really enjoy your video!!!really appreciate your efforts. An additional thing for selecting lenses is to consider if it is anti-glare. if it is not, people will just see themselves when they look at you.

Wow, I didn't even know glasses could be made of something else but glass. I'm short-sighted as well, quite so, in fact and the effect really bothers me, not to mention how heavy my glasses are. Awesome video, thanks for the advice!

This is so helpful. I'll be getting a new prescription soon, and I want to go from a small rimless frame to a larger frame for progressive bifocals. I have a round face, and I think my prescription sunglass frame has been starting to seem not quite right to me. Now I know why after watching your video. Thanks a lot. I'm going to share with my friends.

see the difference between the cat eye and the square on the triangle face really drove home for me what I was already considering. I thought that the straight lines are the square glasses which are very much like the ones I currently have, made the face look more bottom-heavy, like a squash, which is exactly the insecurity I'm trying to minimize with my new frames. cat eye for me then!
I liked that you took the time to mention lense colour, most people don't think of it (:

    hi
I am from India and a big admirer of all your videos as also the different types of concepts that you touch in the videos. Thanks a lot. Plz also do a video on selecting lips sticks for Indian skin type and eye makeup as I rarely find any good suggestions for that skin tone as very few videos pertain to that.

Thank you, Justine. When large colored frames were very fashionable, I looked good in cranberry (blue-toned) red and in a clear medium green - obviously b/c I have blue undertones.
I appreciated the comment about the eye-shrinking effect of glasses for myopia: my near-sightedness is so bad that l gave up large frames in favor of smaller horizontal ovals which sit closer to my eyes. Now I know why this worked - severe myopia & a square face.
Since my prescription is a scorchingly expensive $600+, and I cannot wear contact lenses, if I made a mistake - I was just stuck with it.

I am so glad you did this video Justine! As always, it is delightful and very educational, especially more so since I am very near-sighted and glasses are such an important part of my overall look. I wished this could have came out earlier because I spent over 2 hours at the store looking for the right pair about a year ago. I had no idea what to look for and had to keep trying different ones. I think now that I have a general guidelines; next time hopefully it will be less than an hour :)

Hi Justine. I've been binge watching your videos recently (new subscriber. Lol). Can I just say that I LOVE the way ou start and end your videos! And your accent and just your whole way of speaking and explaining!! This video is encouraging me to go try out different styles of sunglasses. I've always had a problem finding one that looks good on my face (oval face ☺...but long forehead 😧) but, honestly, never tried certain shapes because I thought they'd look bad even before trying them on. Since you're saying basically any shape can go with an oval face, I'll try them all out and see which works best. Thanks for your great videos! They're almost always so helpful and fun to watch.

Hi Justine, years ago one designer mentioned in his video that when choosing your glasses you should take into consideration the shape of your eyebrows. The upper rim of the glasses should match the line of the eyebrows. It works with me perfectly and have always helped me to pick the right frames. In my case that would be "cat eyes" (long live this trend, please!). Thank you for your video. Lots of love from Australia.
