They say that attack is the best defense and i agree, yet, there is something about choppers and their craft that is so artful n beautiful.

Since last year and almost last quarter of 2021 i moved to defensive style, it is beautiful, but i have very difficult time to master it as i never train or practice with it, and what make it difficult is that i started with a racket that is not mine but belong to a club i was coaching there for almost 2 months and i have to return it back, i tried to mimic that blade exactly the same [except for the forehand rubber] and it is never the same, and then i had few i made and only one is getting closer and good enough, but i am not sure if i should experiment with gear or i should go back to offensive style only.

I feel bad for Patrick Baum because of his career. Baum is one of the finest techniques players, just like textbook. But in table tennis, fine techniques don't guaranty for success.
He reminds me a bit of Allan Benston - beautiful shots but perhaps can go off the boil. There is a match on YT of Allan Bentson destroying Joo Se Hyuk with ease but eventually loses.
I like to watch him, too. His career ist nothing to feel sorry about, though, I'd say. He was junior world champion in 2005 and up to this date delivers top perfomances.
Baum will always be my favorite player from the german table tennis history. I always cheer him on,please never stop playing 🤘
