I’ve had everything from under the sun pretty much & nothing worked and never been told about this until my aunt told me and it has been life-saving for me.
After a very bad benzo addiction 2013 - 2015 (10 - 20 alprazolam per day) I was prescribed 150mg Trazodone per night because, as crazy as it sounds, I had no idea how to sleep without something. I had been relying on benzos to go to sleep for so long I couldn't manage without chemical assistance. This includes diphenhydramine (benadyrl), melatonin and various herbal supplements. I hated the Trazodone because of the *hangover* the next morning. I was groggy and very "out of it" like I had been drinking all night and got maybe 4 hours of sleep. I quit taking the Trazodone after 3 months but haven't taken a benzo since. I hated how it felt every day that I took it but it was certainly worth the result. I'll take the unpleasant effects of Trazodone over benzo addiction any day.
Just curious, how do you manage your sleep now without the Trazodone and benzos?
@@WolfKublun I started working out a lot and taking vitamins and supplements. By a lot I mean I'm at the gym 4 or 5 days every week for 1 - 3 hours each day. I do a lot of running, swimming and lifting. Every night I take zinc www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019LU34W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and magnesium www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00014G8XI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and if I feel like I need it I take some melatonin (1mg - 5mg) but that's not often. Also, try to get yourself on a regular schedule. Staying up late one day and trying to go to bed early the next isn't going to work well. I try to be in bed every night by 9:30.
All of this is to get my body physically tired and ready to rest, keep myself on a proper sleep schedule, and put in the right vitamins and minerals to allow my body to properly rest and repair itself.
20 mgs Alprazolam daily ? I would like to see that .
Trazedone is wonderful!!! The first few nights I took it, it didn't seem to work. Do NOT drink caffeine at least 6 hours before taking it (don't use caffeine at all if you can help it) After 3 days (on 50 mg) I sleep soundly, I wake up refreshed!!!! It definitely makes me tired but a "normal" feeling tired. I dont feel drugged up at all. I'm so happy my nurse practitioner decided to try this for me. 💖💖💖
I like it too
I recommend it to people I know.
I'm very open about my mental health.
And vocal about getting help .
Depression and anxiety are deadly to have.
There should be no shame in getting help.
@@chanceDdog2009 definitely!!
it fuckin works, i'm grateful for it.
I'll listen to biblical hymns and Psalms the word of God and I sleep like a baby
Simple, informative. Thank you.
The best med we have tried for sleep yet for our son that addresses both sleep and his anxiety/depression. Thank you for all this information about it. I understood the very basics but not how it compared to other medications beyond the different ones we tried in the past
glad you had a good experience with it!
Thank you so much for this video! Vey helpful.
Very informative!
Yea I like trazodone a lot also even 50mg I could feel the sleepiness
Good talk on Trazodone. I take 100mg before bed for sleep. I just subscribed. 👍
Thanks Doctor this video is very informative
Really truh man I've been taking it for a while and helps me get along with people more and I feel less depressed
Trazodone not for everyone and apparently not for me. I wasn’t looking for antidepressants I was looking for something to help me sleep. I woke up twice in a nearly catatonic state where I was fully awake and unable to make it to the bathroom for several hours. I thought I was going to have to call 911. I do drink and that might be the issue, FYI. Gabapentin had the same affect on me. Something they gave me in the hospital after a surgery to sleep put me in a dream state where I could not tell what was dream and what was reality. I got up out of my hospital bed and was trying to order a latte from the latte bar I thought was on the other side of the room. The nurse came in to the room and told me I wasn’t supposed to be out of bed and I told her she wasn’t supposed to have a lizard head. I’m not making this up. Some people have different reactions to different medication and obviously antidepressants and sleep aids are not for me.
Yeah stay away from this sh°t. I was given trazadone and Gabapentin after a bad surgery and it was hell. Yes it made me feel no pain but no feelings caused more injuries. Never will take another medication that messes with my mind\feelings!
wait, so was there not a latte bar run by lizard people?
I’ll have this please
I have central sleep apnea and have been taking trazodone to help me get to sleep while adjusting to my new BiPAP . While I’m still having sleep apnea issues (going for an ASV machine sleep study) the drug has helped. Thanks for this helpful information!
Very effective
So George Clooney is a Psychiatrist now?
😂😂
THANKYOU
Nice lil review in myself tend to only take trazadone when i cant sleep as if u take it daily u will grow tolerance to the medication very fast plus my dr said anyhow that long term use and higher doses are for depression but when using it for sleep lower dosages work much better! For sleep i take 1 100mg tab or less even and within 15 mins i can fall asleep !
Although this helped my bipolar I have had insomnia ever since taking it and even one year after stopping the medication I still suffered insomnia and restless legs. I also seemed to not have a lot of energy or interest in things, but I felt safe, which with my bipolar was a great thing. So I am surprised it helps people with their sleep but we really are all different.
Great info! I was just prescribed Trazadone, I mentioned to my telehealth Doctor my job was super stressful and I was having trouble sleeping and was just having bouts of anxiety. I was typically stopping on my way home from work for a small shot or 2 of vodka at the liquor store a few times a week to cope. I did have xanax a few times in the last few years for flight anxiety and was looking for that same effect and she prescribed the Trazadone. I'm only a few days in with the stuff but it definitely seems to be doing the trick. I do like how it's helping me sleep through the night as well but that's the only draw back during the day where it seems to definitely curb the stress/anxiety but can make me feel a bit low energy. I'll definitely be dialing in my dosage over time though... which I'm sure will help.
You sound like me 10 years ago every day after work i had to go right to the store and get a tall boy so stressed after a day of work so glad im retired now. But its chronic pain from spinal fusions now🤣
WHAT IS THE BEST DOSAGE FOR TRAZADONE ?????? THANK YOU 8-28-23
Hey Any updates after 2 years? I've situational anxiety and starting taking Trazodone on 'as-needed' basis. Just wanted to understand the implication of a long-term usage.
After surviving benzo withdrawal, all that I can say is stay away from them! They did help with my anxiety and sleep but came with a huge price tag. Little did I know that the benzos were what was causing the addiction in the first place.
Thanks
I’m on 250mg at night , have been for 10 years.
Should I be worried?
I heard it’s what they give prisoners at night to be quiet.
I am also on Clonazepam and Mirtazapine as well. Here in the UK.
Thanks ive just been prescribed this for sleep i have chronic pain from two spinal fusions and they my doctor wants to get me off Ambien since im now seeing a pain specialist
I just started taking trazodone. Pretty good. Not much hangover.at first a little hangover. For me the onset was slow. T akes about 1.5 hrs for full effect to sleep
Are tryouts still taking it and how many MG
Thanks for this video, very helpful. My doctor put me on Trazodone for anxiety and sleep, I have been on amitriptyline 25 mg for 20 years and am weaning off, I spoke to a pharmacist about the steps I should take he told me to take 25 mg with 25mg trazodone for 3 nights, then a half of amitriptyline 12.5 mg 3 night with 50 mg trazodone, do I need to cut the 12.5 in half and take that with 50mg of trazodone for 3 night also? I forgot to ask him that.
Doesn't work that great for me, plus a brain fogginess the next day. When you become a senior citizen, that fogginess can be frightening.
This works with 100 mg at night. I feel bad after I take it but the feeling goes away. Only very few times do I feel groggy next morning. I do have to take other things also to sleep.
My Doctor is going to wean me off of 2 mg. of klonopin which I have been on for 3 months...he gave me Trazodone at 100 mg. and it made me a zombie and I really did not sleep all that well.....I thought that the less mgs. you took of Trazadone the better the sleep...and then what do you do when your body gets used to the medication and then you can't sleep ?????
Thanks for the information, U just subscribedt today, I would like to ask about zolpidrm or stilnox by sanofi, I have been taking for insomnia for quite sometimes, do you think is better to change it to trazadone?
هل تتكلم العربية ؟
do you speak arabic ?
OK so I commented on another one of your trazodone videos I have a few questions I’m on my second week being off of it I’ve had some pretty weird symptoms but I’m getting through it I went off of 50 mg very slowly almost an entire year actually an entire year and finally after the tiny tiny piece I was having every day for three months I just said that’s it now the other drug I was put on at the time for a really bad insomnia 25 years ago this started I was put on mirtazapine 15 mg so that is almost impossible to get off of is it addictive my doctor did not tell me 25 years ago that it was going to be that hard. I decided to stay the continuation on the 15 For Mirtazapine and give my body some time to get off the trazodone first. I wanted you to know the reason I was put on the trazodone along with the mirtazapine is because the mirtazapine side effect of restless leg was driving me crazy I still have the restless leg but I decided to let the trazodone go I hope I make it
I use amitriptiline 20mg for fibromyalgia pain and insomnia but it recently stopped working for sleep. Can I add trazadone 25g to help with sleep? Is it okay to take both at low doses?
What medicine were you referring to when you said Dementia and early death???
I cant sleep without taking trazadone at night. I get great sleep but I am basically non functional the next day. I can't think straight and can barely move from my bed to my couch. It makes me want to eat and snack all the time even though I may not even be hungry. I've gained so much weight. I feel like a complete zombie that's detached from functioning. Simple things like paying bills or showering don't even cross my mind. I feel like I'm here but not. I don't know what to do because I can't sleep without it but I'm a vegatable.
I'm on 50 mg of Hydroxine and 150mg of Trazodone before bed ....i also take 10mg of Lexapro its been helping me sleep very well and feel good the next day....is this ok to take indefinitely?
What about priapism from trazodone how common is that?
I’m not sure about this med, I’m on 25mg but my blood pressure is 82/52, it makes me dizzy so I might stop it and worse my doctor told me to take 50mg, I’m always afraid of taking medication so i always do less then what my doctor tells me.
I wanna get off this stuff. It makes me feel hungover and tired all day. I’m only on 25 mg, what’s a good taper plan?
He reminds me of my brother.
Have you seen this work for sleep at 6.25 or 12.5mg. I want to try the lowest dose possible. Thanks :)
Isn’t it the generic for Lexapro? I took that years ago and gained 20 pounds the first three months. Will this cause weight gain? I really need help with sleep.
I had to wean this medication because of weight gain and I couldn't lose weight. I used 150g for 4 months, I was weaned and now I have withdrawal symptoms, it seems that the depression is getting worse, even though I use Zoloft in the morning. To withdraw these medications later, the body is sorry. The curious thing about trazodone is also that I felt my nose blocked shortly after taking
And here I was assuming that my blocked nose was cause I snorted my medication ...
Is it safe to take with Fluoxetine? I don’t want serotonin syndrome :/
I have been prescribed this today. The only problem I have is with my anxiety/depression during the day. I’ve tried Citalopram, Fluoxetine and Mirtazipine which haven’t worked for me at all, infact has made it worse from increased anxiety to experiencing most of their side effects. Would that be a specific circumstance that’d make Alprazolam and/or Sertraline an option for me? How would I talk to my psychiatrist about going that route?
I this something you can take once i a while or daily?
I really need your help. Ive been getting the run around by doctors for about a year. A year ago i stopped taking an as needed rx of klonpin i had been on for 5 years. A few months later i started getting hypnic jerks most nights, average of 2 to 4 hours a sleep for 2 months. I started doing keto and my sleep improved but then after a month it got worse again and over a few more months hypnic jerks came back full force. I am on trazodone since i started keto diet but increased to 200mg and the jerks only seemed to get worse. My sleep study showed mild sleep apnea both obstructive and central but i don't think that's what it is. I thought for a while it was benzo withdrawal but it's been a year since i had it. I also have pulsitile tinnitus which started just before i stopped klonopin. Don't know what to do
I would suggest talking to your dr about the medication requip aka ropinirole for your jerks/restlessness i take that for mine and it does wonders
How are you with tinnitus now ???
@@ioannisstermougkou8015 I realized mine was from clenching my jaw all the time
Can you take Trazodone PRN?
My nurse practitioner has had me on 50 mg of Trazodone twice daily for the last 3 months for depression. She said it would also help with my problems sleeping. So far it has not helped with either problem.
It works, but gotta have some caffeine in the morning to get me out of the slump!!
I was just prescribed this..and it really has help me sleep..good stuff!!👍
I’m scared they put other crazy things in these meds, I’ll try but the Min I notice worst symptoms I’m reporting it
Any videos on lucid dreaming or sleeping on front side aka belly sleeper?
What about coming off of it? I would like to start taking trazodone for sleep and mild depression but I just want it to get a handle on life. I don’t want to be on it more than a year.
I’ve been on 50mg for more than a month, and tried not to use for several nights but could not fall asleep. My long term solution is CBT-I, once my circadian gets back on track and anxiety gets improved, I’ll try to trapper it off.
@@catallergiccat same here. I took it for a month and then stopped and could literally not fall asleep for a whole week! I thought I was going to go crazy then after a week I finally fell asleep and was normal again.
I was prescribed trazedone for sleep and my dr said I can take up to 3 at a time if needed...Im up to 2 and it's still not working...I will try 3 tonight and hope that it works...If it doesnt I think I may need to go back to Ambien...
I actually would say when using trazadone for sleep lower doses works better the higher doses are prescribed for depression
It works better if you take with a snack , not a sweet snack though , cheese or something .
Are there any medications that don't impair REM sleep?
I wear a fitbit smartwatch to track my sleep . I get more rem and deep sleep on trazodone . I dont take trazodone every night but when I do the quality of sleep is alot better . I'm taking 25mg .
Hi. I'm having to abruptly withdrawal from 200 mg of trazodone due to mild serotonin syndrome. I just started Lexapro as I need something stronger for anxiety/depression. Can you tell me what to expect? I'm scared to death and my Dr. is out of town so our communication has been difficult. Will that extra serotonin I have in my brain help me to get off of trazodone?
How have you feel I’m about to take trazodone and lexapro soon starting tomorrow
@Georgia Wadsworth what other meds were you taking to get serotonin syndrome?
Does it expire or go bad at some point?
Slept great on Trazadone. However, they occasionally gave me WICKED nightmares. Had to stop taking them.
I’ve had chronic insomnia for years. I started out on Diphenhydramine, then Trazodone, then Doxepin, and now I’m on Ambien. Ambien has been the only thing fully effective for me. Trazodone was effective for me at first, but then after three weeks, it didn’t work that well.
Prestige Playz try bali red kratom
How many mg were you on when you took trazodone
@@uhcourtney6562 100mg
This stuff makes my sinuses so dry it’s literally painful
100 mg at bedtime 👍 and happy morning 🫶🏼
Thanks, I have no morning effects w/ Trazodone. But I wonder if taking it with Norco at night is a good fit. Any ideas?
I was told to take Norco at least a full 4 to 6 hours before taking Trazadone as the two are both central nervous system depressants and can have too much sedating effect taken together
@@anonymousandcool wrong wring wrong
I shouldn´t had upvoted that really cause what I take along with it is a different opiate ( actually opioid - subutex ) ... plus as someone said below , I take them a good 5 + hours apart from one another . Plus , common sense hour : never self medicate without your GP´s opinion .
Hmm. I've been on Trazodone 50-100mg for over a year. Yes, it helps me relax and eventually fall asleep for a few hours. But the next day I am a walking zombie. If I take less, nothing happens.
I had the lethargic feeling at first as well but that only happened a couple times for me then never again
Did it cause weight gain for you?
Hi doctor ... I been having problem sleeping after COVID past through my system and I can't sleep and didn't sleep for 3 night ...then my doctor prescribed this medication 50 mg.. is it good for after COVID insomnia help ... Please help
absolutely can be, definitely give it a try
My vet gives my dog trazodone for anxiety.
Mine too although she still is scared to death of fireworks
Does trazadone poop out
Anyone have weight gain while taking it?
Can Trazadone be taken as needed for sleep?
yes, that's the best way to take it
Oh ya forgot to mention the blurry vision next day sucks
Hello I'm currently on valdoxan for depression, anxiety and insomnia. It gives me awsome sleep but does minimal for my underlying depression etc
Would this med help. However I'm afraid of weight gain and vivid dreams. Is this a common side effect. Kind regards
But dude it made my heart rhythm out of wack made me have a fib. It scares me
how much mg are you on?
Didn’t I see you on Game of Thrones?
This med gave me horrible panic attacks with only 50mg I stop it today
same. worst panic attack ever. and it was out off the blue ..
Me too it was horrible I thought I will die
Did you get internal vibrations from it?
i was prescribed Trazodone. im scared to take it because of the side effects i read online. i have insomina. were i don.t feel tired even if i stay up 12 hours. i been up 38 hours now. i only get 2 hours of sleep for 2 mounths now.
My doctor took me off trazodone and put me straight on Clonazepam don’t no if that’s right or not
Benzos (clonazepam) are horrible to use every day. Addiction can occur easily, and then you need it every day, or you have to gradually taper off, and the withdrawal symptoms are the reverse of the benzo effect = elevated anxiety. Check out Benzo Buddies. Good luck.
Clonazepam is an addictive drug, Trazodone supposedly isn't....
My dog has been prescribed this before a vet visit.
Can this cause hair loss and weight gain?
I gained weight on it. Going to try Ambien now.
Tried this on 25 mg, and it was awful. Made my anxiety worse, and kept me awake instead. Also made me feel super drugged the next day.
WOW ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL THAT'S WHAT SO SCARY ABOUIT SLEEP MEDS.8-28-23
25mg. knocks me RIGHT OUT, every time lololol
This medication has helped me with depression.
Though I sometimes get manic. I don't like that side effects but the benefits are worth it for me. I have more motivation and less suicidal thoughts....
That's my experience.
Have you gained any weight while being on trazodone?
what are the side effects?
Dam he is a hot Bear!
RIGHT

How safe is Trazadone for someone with severe sleep apnea?
Unless it's just mild sleep apnea, it must be addressed. I've acheived almost curative results by using a didge box. It's basically a mini didgeridoo. Used about 20 minutes a day, 5 or more days per week over 3-4 months will strengthen your throat muscles and noticably improve your apnea if it's just OSA. There are a few studies out there on didgeridoo for OSA.
OMG he's so cute that's why I clicked

I'm liking it right now im getting off addreall screw this
If you have restless leg syndrome you should avoid this medication.
@nathanas64 magnesium baths help my restless legs!
@@sexualgladiator totally agree! I also take 500mg magnesium supplement.
Horrible medication
Yummy
Lol, bro, you look like you should be getting scripts, not giving them
This sounds really good, like it would be worth a try. Tried Seroquel and Amitriptyline and it made me feel suicidal the latter worked like complete sh and didn't help me sleep at all. Seroquel helped a little but it also had me in a daze where gaps of time would just float on by and I wasn't able to do anything. I'm wary now of antidepressants. Both made me feel suicidal, one didn't work at all. Seroquel helped at times as far as it's sedating effects. Think it's absolute sh cuz it's also a mood stabilizer that can cause u to become suicidal womp womp oh but u know it depends on how its used, umm even when used as told it can have that effect for some. It's soo hard to find a good sedating drug for anxiety in my exp. The only thing that helped me was valium and Lexotan. I just wanted a drug that has calming sedating effects like Lexoton.
