Watch your tires too! dudes be selling 10 plus year old tires that for a corvette tire size are super expensive, and now you have to buy tires after you just spent a lot on a corvette.
there's another really good one on the 2005-2013 c6. don't buy it with a low tank of gas. make sure it's full and sitting inside for a bit. there are fuel lines prone to cracking on top of the tank. major pain to change, have to drop the tank. car will smell the garage up with gas fumes if they are cracked. another is the torque tube rattle. most commonly herd driving down the road under load or sometimes at idle. may sound like a loose exhaust or rattle. torque tube issues also require the whole driveline to be dropped
Check carfsx and auto check, it helps with a few records on the car, maintenance and accident record. Mileage history as well, I am looking do buy a c6 but the majority of the cars I found at auction had suspected mileage. It is not rolll back, but depending on the state you don’t need to report mileage every year, then a car seated with the same owner for 5 years and only 5k miles put in than it’s very suspicious.
YOO Dude , I’m one of the boomers you mess with all the time, I getting ready to get a Grand Sport 2010-2013, would really like a list of items to look for when doing inspection. I know about the balancer and shit, but I’m sure there are things I’m not aware of. Also the prices are all over the place 35 - 50 K . I’m looking for convertible with manual transmission under 50k miles. I’m a reckneck boomer bro so talk slow . Thanks
I had a C6 and the Harmonic Balancer started to wobble I sold it after I found out a torque tube job was $6000 and it happens a lot on Corvettes,it wasn't making noise yet but it was just a matter of time.
unless you're prepared to spend top dollar, it's ok to buy a car with minor flaws like big gaps and leaky valve cover gaskets. otherwise you're chasing unicorns, and unicorns don't exist my guy.
Harmonic Balance is a common failure item on these corvettes. Once it fails it starts maching a chirping sound and its a really big and expensive job to have this replaced
Only 1 of these are really good tips, the rest is general knowledge, or just stuff you are twist to your advantage. Like the title loan thing. Is what they owe less than value? Good, use that against them and walk away if they don't bite. Illegal mods, smog? On the former it's either a cheap change you can reduce price on and just put in a small amount of sweat equity (tint, and cat back exhaust the most common) to bring back to what you want. On the Later? If you customize anything, you will probably do the same so act just enough put off/concerned to make them "assure" you by giving you a good word and hopefully take some off. Now you bring said car only for the sticker to the guy who remembers it. Hook up made. The harmonic Balancer is the only corvette specific thing. Everything else that's a red flag is general used car purchasing knowledge.
Corvettes are WAY overpriced, people and dealers think they are worth more than they really are,I see 7 year old C7 Corvettes where people are wanting 50k-60k thats damn near MSRP on new..only a fool would pay that,I would not pay more than 38k for a 7 year old C7.
What's it worth?" .... From real estate to cars, it's worth EXACTLY what someone else is willing to pay for it. So long as people are continually paying ridiculous amounts, they'll continue to sell for big dollars, it's as simple as that. With that said, I'm right there with you though man, as I've been on the hunt for a nice C7 for over a year! Just when I walk away thinking I'll call again in a week or so ('cuz the guy's asking price is downright stupid), the dam thing is always sold! Even though you and I feel strongly that asking prices for the C7 are way out of touch, if 100 guys are in line behind me, how the hell am I supposed to buy one for a decent price? Trust me, it's no bullshit man. People are paying big, BIG money for C7's in decent condition. It's prit-near impossible to find one with low mileage, well cared for, and reasonably priced, at least not in my area. Specially from those "one owner" guys. They're the ones who paid serious money for that brand new 'vette. They're not letting it go for anything less than what someone else is willing to pay ---> top dollar or it's not for sale! And if you're looking for an '18 or '19, well forget about it immediately unless you have even deeper pockets. Yeah sure, it's not that hard to find one that's been "beat to death" for less money, but IMO even those ones are priced way too high _(not that I'd ever consider buying one anyhow)_ It's so frustrating knowing that so long as the C7's are selling for ridiculous amounts, the C8's will always be reserved exclusively for the rich man!
I came for the tips but stayed for the jokes. They’re somehow so corny they actually work hahaha I fuck with it.
the corny jokes makes it 10 times better somehow

2:41 what was I talking about, oh yeah 🤣
Replacing harmonic balancers suck! Knocked me back $3,200 and I'm a millennial, and not a boomer lol.
Wow that’s a lot! I was at $1,400 for an ATI pinned.
@@ARehman11194 🤷♂
@@ARehman11194 Mine was an ATI Super Damper pinned as well but I had a garage do the labor so maybe that was why it was that expensive?
@@ath85 I had mine done at a well known local performance shop. The price you paid typically would include upgrading the cam as well.
You got ripped off
Bro you an under rated UA-camr, keep it up 💪
Netflix is calling... 📞

What’s the balancer #5 red flag?

@@PushingGearsis that on ls7’s as well?

2:30 funny f the scatpacks
this guy is hilarious XD
He talked me out of buying a C6.
A new C8 is backed by a factory warranty.
No manual transmission tho
Warranties are a waste of money. Your car will break after the warranty is expired.
I’m like number 100 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
