    I wonder whether the lux number of the day-time illumination would affect the result. Like whether you have a 80 lux "normal" bedroom light setting or a 50000 lux light like the sun would be.
    Whether the lights are gradual dimmed or turned on/off could also have a huge effect on crepuscular animals.
    I 3D printed a holder for my IR camera, which is attached to the enclosure with a suction cup. So when I'm looking for the snake at night, I can un-suck the camera and survey the enclosure with it's IR vision of the phone.

      The lighting for each enclosure was provided by Zoo Med Laboratories so each participant has identical enclosure lighting. We cannot, however, control the room lighting or the reflected light or heat from then interior enclosure walls. This is a citizen science project so people may have different room lighting and the enclosures were not all donated by the same company so they may have different relative properties. So far, the study subjects have not been out during the day and have only been active at night. This is not surprising for Python regius. I am observing other species for another study and that is not the case with other pythons, many of which are out during the day.
