  • We rode up to Mt Kosciuszko to promote the TERN Vektron S10. In doing this we had excess footage and commentary that we couldn't use in the original video, so we decided to use that footage to create this video.

Great video Andrew. Thanks for sharing. I remember, back in the 60's my Dad drove us all the way to the top in an old Ford station wagon. Back in the day when the road was still open all the way to the summit..

I had the same experience, but we were a Holden family. Next time that we drove up we could only go as far as Rawson Pass and walk to the top. That would have been in the late 70’s. Then by the early 80’s Pioneer coaches ran a service from Perisher, in summer obviously, to Rawson Pass. No cars were allowed when the buses started running. By the mid 80’s no cars or buses were allowed past the Charlotte Pass lookout. Nowadays I walk it or use my eBikes.

I’m there today filming two new videos. One with the Tern GSD carrying a passenger (my very patient wife) from Charlotte Pass to Rawson Pass and the other with the Tern HSD

The Vektron S10 seemed to cope pretty well with those rugged, stony tracks. I must say that I am impressed with its capabilities though at 100kg it might struggle to get me up some mountain roads where I live in Ireland.

Good stuff but I recommend investing in a stabilised camera

We filmed this about 4 years ago. Since then I’ve used chest mounted gimbals and hand held gimbals with my GoPros, but now we use Insta 360 One Rs and X2s, which we also sell.

How does the Vektron ride compared to a mountain bike up the hills?

Hi @dominic Lambert, the Vektron has no suspension and 20" wheels. It was pretty bumpy on some parts of the road. You can see this with the camera shake (I was using a GoPro with a chest harness and even I find some of the footage hard to watch). Next time I'll be using a gimbal with my GoPro! We ended up doing about ten trips up and back and the Vektron took all the punishment we threw at it with no damage. emtb's, especially dual suspension bikes do that kind of ride very comfortably. I also have done the same ride a couple of times using a 29er hardtail. That's also pretty much up to the task on that kind of road. Check out my other videos of riding different bikes to Mt Kosciuszko.
