All the versions of this Symphony I have seen on UA-cam have altered pitch, or are too fast or slow. However, this version is absolutely brilliant. Great Interpretation, Bravo! (It's Schubert's Birthday today by the way).
Almost all orchestras had this seating until Stokowski came along in the 1930s. Opera pit orchestras still use it. It has two advantages: You can hear the interplay between 1st and 2nd violins, which almost all composers through Mahler featured. And it places the bass line next to the soprano line.
An absolutely top notch performance of this delightful symphony. This ensemble has to be the best Chamber Orchestra in Europe. But I expect some clever dick on You Tube will tell me I wrong (There's always one!!!).
Absolutely. I searched for years for a good performance of this symphony and I couldn't find any ! I was about tonight to listen to Charles Munch's one for which I have a very good feeling, and found this. Fabulous yes! I think if Eschenbach does it, it will be quite good. Anyway I am very happy with this !
I love symphony No.5.
Filled with joy, beauty and confidence of young Schubert.
Thank you for beautiful sound as always!
Just like Herr Schubert wanted; intimate and informal but most beautiful symphony ever. Great performance. Thank you
Joyful & superb - the smiles on their faces as they played were lovely to see.
Molto bene , orchestra veramente trascinante!! Archi e fiati davvero molto convincenti.
Allegro (1st movement): 0:03
Andante Con Moto (2nd movement): 7:25
Menuetto - Allegro Molto (3rd movement): 17:15
Allegro Vivace (4th movement): 22:45
Какая гармония звуков, хочется под неё идти и подпрыгивать от радости. Прекрасное исполнение оркестра, Шуберту бы точно понравилось!❤
The kind of informed, vital, characterful performance you get whenever Lorenza Borrani directs ...
A bright yet warm interpretation. Thank you.
Bravissimi!!!! ❤
Epic bassoon section: Ole Kristian Dahl and Audun Halvorsen!
Wonderful, wonderful! Bravo maestro Borrani.
Espléndida interpretación!! Que disciplina y trabajo musical. Felicidades Maestros!!! Desde México un gran aplauso y saludos.

I think this one has too many speed changes.
Double-Bass and Cellos in an unusual position, and no conductor.......yet an outstanding performance. Bravo.
This is period seating!

Great, thank you.
Superb, thank you!
Thank you
Excellent performance! Just perfect!
À mon avis la plus belle symphonie de Schubert............
Most beautiful symphony in history by the greatest composer ever.
a little big symphony for a little big orchestra ;-)
Why didn't they show the cellos whenever they had the melody?
Does this orch have clarinets and oboes? How do you distinguish between them ?
@@dickbucThis symphony only calls for one flute, two oboes, two bassoons, and two horns in the winds.

Nice!
@@marcela77777 You'd better not anger him. He doesn't like dissent.

Better without a conductor.

So who does the interpretation at rehearsal, or do you think the orchestra just turn up and play it?
