      You can't forecast where a tornado is going to hit until it's already forming... All you can say is "there is a 20% chance of a tornado within 50 miles of you" which was the forecast on that day in over 5 states, not just one city. That's insane.

      @@tatumsh9 THANK YOU
      The whole time he’s talking I’m thinking this is not how it works. Tornado watch and tornado warnings exist
      A pattern can give high probability that a storm will generate in a general area of hundreds of miles
      It can not pin point hours in advance that a storm will plop down in a specific location
      So there isn’t some call for an evacuation that far in advance.
      Everything he was talking about is done in hurricanes
      I mean.... the video shows the tornado, does it look like it’s a mile wide?
      I like the guy but why not just be factual and correct?
      The stories are good enough and don’t need dramatization/embellishment

    Damn I had a broken vertebrae from a car wreck, & that adrenaline Clarence had must’ve been through the roof for him to crawl out of that rubble. Me simply opening my door and trying to get out of the car was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. RIP to his wife.

    • @haunted5311
      @haunted5311 Рік тому +6

      Worst pain I ever experienced was a tailbone break.
      Tailbone injuries are a form of spinal injuries, and the spine contains the highest concentration of nerves, so these types of injuries are among the most painful.
      I went blind for a few minutes after it initially happened. Turns out, with spinal injuries, there is such thing as being "blinded by pain".
      My tailbone is the shape of an L now instead of the normal C shape, and 3 of my Lumbar Vertebrae are visibly prodruding a bit from my back.
      I still get occasional lower back or tailbone pain but physical therapy cured 90% of it for me. I had to get fit and build muscle, nothing else helped.
      All is good now, but I'm terrified of what my back is gonna be like when I'm middle aged - old.

      @@haunted5311 how’d your break your tail bone? If you don’t mind me asking. I’m glad you’ve since recovered tho. I wouldn’t wish that kinda pain on my worst enemy. I have 2 long rods & 9 screws in my spine basically holding it up, so I completely understand the fear you have of how your back will be when you get older. I’m only 23 now and can’t even bend all the way over anymore because My range of motion is very limited now.

    • @haunted5311
      @haunted5311 Рік тому

      @@hihowareya4004 funny thing is my spinal/tailbone injury was 100% my doing. I tried to "parkour" jump onto the middle railing in front of my friends when I was a 15 year old softmore in the highschool basement. I bit off more than I could chew, and my right foot slipped, went right, so I free fell at least 2-3 feet, and 100% of my momentum went straight into my tailbone ( I wasn't yet tall enough for my feet to have touched the ground when falling on that railing).
      I went blind for several minutes from the pain and shock. Now 3 of my lumbar vertebrae are permanently visible when you look at my nude backside, and my coccyx bone is an L shape instead of the usual C shape. I've taken away probably 80 or 85% of the pain through physical therapy/general fitness, but the pain will always severely flare up if I get lazy and don't excercise for an extended period of time.
      Could be a lot worse though, sorry to hear you're in chronic pain dude. Wish you the best.
      Edit: I just realized how much I repeated myself in this new comment. 😂😂

      If faced with that kind of destruction barreling towards me, I think I would have frozen in fear not realizing I still had minutes, rather than seconds, to live or get away. An interesting tidbit about the Dating Game serial killer: the male executive producer who interviewed Alcala for the show wrote ‘NW’ on his written profile, meaning No Way. The producer found him strange and unsettling and did not want him on the show. However, the female casting director pled his case because she thought he was handsome and the audience would like him.

    I went through a Cat4 Hurricane (Hurricane Wilma), which was a Cat5 before heading to FL- thank God it became a Cat4 when it hit us head on. We didn’t board up cause it was hitting the west side of Florida, and we were on the East (Atlantic) side - just 2 blocks from the ocean in Deerfield Beach). Usually hurricanes slow down once they hit land. Not Wilma. It sat in the Everglades overnight and went from a Cat 2 when it hit west coast to a cat4 by morning when it headed straight for us. We strapped our 2 babies in their car seats and brought them, along with our dog and cat, into the very small walk-in closet. For the next 6 hours, we went through winds nearly as strong as that Tornado, with a 30 minute eerily silent break when the eye came over us. We could hear and see our roof coming off while we hunkered down in that closet. We moved to Oregon 6 months later. No one really hears about Wilma cause it was just weeks after Katrina (which also hit us prior to heading to New Orleans). I must have a bit of PTSD cause that video sent a serious chill down my spine, and my heart began pounding like it was back then. It’s good to be in Oregon 😅

      @J Paterson how could he have saved his wife? This is a tornado, not a hurricane where you have days in advance to get out of there. With a tornado, you maybe have 15 minutes to get to shelter and you do not know what these things are going to do or how strong they are. Some people dont even get warnings when a tornado is spotted. The meteorologists who were forecasting these things can only advise that tornadoes are possible, not that they are going to happen.

    • @Eponastory
      @Eponastory 3 роки тому +6

      @J Paterson actually, I dont think it would have made a difference with the tornado being rated an EF4. There hasnt been an EF5 in 7 years, but an EF4 can definitely destroy a house no matter if you are in a windowless room. I've been through my fair share of tornadoes, and I can say that you honestly dont have enough time unless you get the warnings prior, even then, it's not enough time.

She has a daughter of her own who was around Abby’s age at the time this occurred. She wouldn’t allow her daughter to go anywhere alone, even if she was still in the neighborhood. It’s a tragic story, that really has struck a cord with northwestern Hoosiers. Their killer has never been caught, despite multiple E-fits being made of what he might look like. At least I didn’t get out of my car. He said, “Hey. Come here.”

If you're in a house, go to the basement or smallest room in the middle of your house. If you have a blanket, cover yourself with it. If you're in a vehicle and don't have the ability to drive at that 90° angle away, get out and find a ditch and lay in it. Do not get under bridges. While you get protection from precipitation, tornados create a vacuum under them - they're more dangerous than open ground.

    My grandfather has PTSD from being sucked out of his house (which was demolished) and the first thanksgivings after that we needed an extra chair… so I pushed a computer chair across the tile and he FREAKED OUT!!! The sound of the wheels on tile, sounded like a train… or a tornado

      @Sean of the Bread The rotation of the cyclone has nothing to do with the power of direction of a tornado, yes. The only difference between clockwise spinning tornadoes and counter clock wise spinning tornadoes is that counterclockwise tornadoes are usually in the northern hemisphere while clockwise tornadoes usually occur in the Southern Hemisphere. But the direction the tornado itself is moving, not spinning, greatly affects how we perceive it.
