I think the main difference maker is the Dominance ice buff.
Every time Phoveous ults on wanwan he reduces her attack speed hence she gets slowed down and he manages to hit her more.
Yes, another thing is that most smart phove player will just play burst instead defense. So wanwan dies before she even run.
Plus the test was done with 6 windtalkers. Almost never gonna encounter a wanwan with that build, so max speed will be a bit slower than experimented

@@zoaero no it doesnt, unless you’re in grandmaster or something. People in glory know how to beat wanwan- wind of nature, winter truncheon or regular physical defense items should be able to tank up her ult
As a former Wanwan main, it depends on the player most of the time. I can usually escape Phoveus' ult most of the time, but there are times that the Phoveus users are much smarter that they use their ult to zone Wanwan from the battlefield. Therefore forcing the main damage dealer to not be able to participate in teamfights. Making Wanwan retreat is already a win because now the enemy has less things to be wary of.
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN , it is because of videos like this and because of players like the ones you mention why people underestimate phoveus, they Dont even play him full damage and WANWAN NEVER RUN IN A STRAIGHT LINE WTF, if wanwan stop dashing straight phoveus Will hurt her, and a full dmg one hurts a lot, also hororo is treating phoveus like if he only had 1 skill lol, his S1 hurts A LOT if you build him full dmg
@@_...phoveus..._ the catch is that S1 is a really close range skill, and once diving in and casted first skill you gonna be vulnerable, that's why people have been using tank build.
Might not be the best build, but it is reasonable.

I think they should scale the backswing(from original to what it's now on advanced server) according to his ult level or cd reduction so even in late game he still good at chasing dashing heroes.
I'd prob play with Phoveus more if I knew what the perfect ratio for defence and offence is for him

Just make some small items if you see that you can't handle the damage in early
If u facing against dyroth just by dreadnaught straight away u don't need cod this case then the rest can be all defense and if u want pen can buy 1 Glaive

old build path goes likedef boots > cod > iqw > oracle > physical resist
but revamp item can make it it now: def boots > cod > oracle > necklace > dom ice > immo/wt
It may not be much he can now “sort of” sometimes catch her, but still in late game her attack speed is still way too much for phoveus to be able to catch her but with the faster animation it helped him be able to cast several more ults before going on cooldown so still a pretty good buff for him

One thing to remember is that in this test, Wanwan's objective is to just ran backward away from Phoveus, not to the side. In real game, Wanwan doesn't have that freedom to move since she's usually the main DPS, especially in the late game when her team needs her dmg
If you time your ult right maybe you can hit wanwan everytime. Maybe when wanwan is about to blink, phoveus should ult and wanwan would be just about to throw her dart to blink again and phoveus would be able to hit her
Buff or not, his weakness will always be there especially if he is timely CC-ed, the enemy disperses or discontinued to dash. He better have a more functioning 2nd skill that isn't delayed or better yet can push and pull with a decent cooldown

Phoveus with Super Mario skin would make more sense now
The nerf on the delay of Phoveus was the dumbest thing the devs made, when he was 1st released, he can blink and damage instantly as soon as someone blinks. Today it defeats his purpose coz he was made to chase blinkers but was unable to do so

I know this buff is very good, but imagine they deside to increase his ulti Aoe range a bit because his Aoe range is very small. That would be OP.

I think it would be better if phoevus follows the dashing enemy to their current location instead of the previous location wouldn't that work? They could nerf the dmg of ult to compensate.

Iirc, Phoveus first release is very op and able to counter and catch up even the fastest hero with blink skill such as Fanny, Lancelot and Benedetta and because of that he is banned a lot in mythic and even epic and legend rank until moontoon decided to nerf his dmg on his skills as well as shortened his ult range. But it still doesn't changed the fact that he is weak against Esmeralda and Dyrroth unless they add new mechanics on his skills so copium wishful thinking lol.

Wanwan’s attack speed in late game is so fast that phoveus slow ult animation wont be able to catch her(same with fanny’s cables), thus it’ll be harder to counter her once she reaches that spike. If you pick phoveus to counter wanwan, dont even THINK about prolonging the game, a late game wanwan is still a menace even if her ”main counter” is on her opposition.
Same can be applied for all “counter” heroes really, it’ll still all depend on the players of those heroes, and still decide the fate of the outcomes.
Carry minsitthar and wanwan is useless throughout lol

the problem is that your phoveus doesn't use dominance ice to reduce the attack speed wanwan, which means that the lower the attack speed wanwan, the slower she moves . Right?

When using phoveus and facing Wanwan, u will need new dominance ice to reduce her attack speed and thus her dashes speed and frequency
Using winter truncheon is also useful, in case she unlocked her ult u can just immune it and survive
Winter truncheon is also useful against enemies like Akai who will use his ult to interrupt yours
When facing enemies with higher movement speed, u will need ice queen wand to chase them
Best counters for phoveus that anyone can use are: using flicker just before his ult hit land, using athena shield, and using ice retribution/sprint
As for special counters, there are alot, like Esmeralda, Baxia, Minsitthar, Fanny, and any dashless hero (most mages and some mm)
Basically, Phoveus is only great when enemies have 3 members with alot of dashes
Tip: never chase enemies inside towers, they will just stop dashing and u can't get out easily
Imagine if you're in a teamfight and you see phoveus and wanwan move away from the teamfight until they reach the end of map😂
What they should have done was shorten the animation for the ground hit phoveus does, the shortened backswing really doesn't make a difference if you think about it since his main premise is to smash the enemies. This problem dont only occur to Wanwan, but to most mobile hero too leading to Phoveus being useless for a hero meant to counter mobile heroes
I think timing is important for chasing her down, the moment she lands on, Jump or idk cuz I'm not Phoevous main,

A suggestion for his second skill:
Make it a single target skill that if there's 2 enemy heroes next to each other they will get pulled to each other or if the enemy is near phoveus they will get pulled towards phoveus

You need to use dominance ice to decrease wanwan attack speed, slow attack speed wawan = less jump

To chase wanwan, u gotta time it a bit with her atk+back jump, cant spam like this.. and yeah, DOM will help. Time it the moment she backjump over half distance then ult, preferably u tap it as soon as she almost/about half her jump distance. Too early do no good, a bit late still can do if shes not jump backing out one direction.
Regardless, this is a good buff for him, well at least grounded heroes has more lesser chance to be able to dodge that. RIP if opponent flicked to their teammate.
How about they buff the ulti to slow the enemy's attack & movement speed so phoveus has the advantage
For Phoveus user, he needs to have Dominance Ice and Ice Queen Wand.
Moonton should give Phoveus a Movement Speed Buff everytine he uses his ultimate. He is so vulnerable as a Fighter with Skill and he even doesn't have Blink to run away as much as other fighter (exclude Terizla as his damage are crazy).
A good phoveus user always user dominance ice as mid game item

There should be an airborne like .5 sec when phoveus hits an enemy, this way he can easily catch wanwan or even fanny.
I also think that phoveus ult must also be countered by khufra ball and minsithar's ult. It's pretty unfair since his ult is also a blink skill.

Here's a proposition, instead of stomping where the enemy landed on the dash, why don't Phoveus just land directly on the enemy? Like he jumps, then the stomp tracks the enemy who dashed.
actually most heros with lock skills had that ability before like hilda, zilong, karina, alucard, saber... they really follow the enemy even they blink a mile away.

They should have just increased the AoE of his ultimate along with the addition of the faster casting.
Well since Phoveus is buffed, I guess they should reduce the mana cost of his ulti since it is possible to more likely to spam this skill.

They should make Phoveus Ult guaranteed to hit a dashing enemy like Arlott's 2nd Skill (when marked or cc on arlott) :) so that enemies will use sprint instead flicker or any dash skill.

I wished they'd buff the whole animation together and not just the chase speed but in exchange they can lower the damage or scaling to somewhat balance it out
With that kind of build wanwan can just basically walk and not using basic attack but the thrill of being chase is what make it fun

The problem is in his 2nd skill better he give instant knockback like valir or martis so it csn combo with ultimate not only flameshot the second skill in hard to aplly
A simple fix for him is to slam down behind them like how gusions knife makes him go behind the person but instead they just do it to where the person dashed from. I dint understand moontons thinking with these simple solutions. You cant even argue tgat would be OP when wanwan can literally team wipe and be invincible, And they already have a literally invincible character.

That was NOT a proper wanwan build. Replace phantom blade with golden staff and retest. Wanwan get 2.5 - 2.7 att speed before using inspire. Bad test

wanwan is easier to kill if she didnt run in a straight line
Phoveus' real enemy is the ground just like aldous. They hate the ground. Why would a monster detect a blink and slam the ground? Anger management? These heroes would be better if they really damage the enemy straight and not slam the ground.
Now give him his lost stats back. This wouldn't have been a problem if Phoveus' def, shield, damage, magic power didn't got nerfed to the ground.
