- Welcome to our new channel.#alaska #offgridcabin #homestead
Break-up is here. That time of year in Alaska when construction gets back underway. Or in our case, just begins. Our first few days were spent getting on the land and planning, along with clearing out some trees.
Don't forget to check out Sean @SeanInAlaska and Craig and Chandra @ouralaskahomestead
Thank you for supporting our channel by watching, subscribing, and liking.
Jay and Eleinne
Looking forward to seeing your progress!
Thank you. We are visiting Seward in a few days
@JayAndEleinne I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I wasn't there long. A heads up, though, many of the places were not open, but they may be by the time you arrive. A lot of places are seasonal due to tourism. The library/museum is a very interesting building. If you are into museums, call ahead and check the hours. You can also make an appointment to see the museum if it is not scheduled to be open during your visit. I was not aware of this ahead of time. And don't forget to bring snacks for the Ravens.
I am so excited for you guys! What an awesome start to an incredible adventure!
Great first video! Appreciate the kind words 😊
Looking forward to seeing your progress in next weeks video.
Lot of berch make good firewood, and if you've mind to, makes good furniture and other things.
The hinge is the key for dropping trees. You probably already knew that I'm just sharing thank you niece video.
@@oscartheg6674 I'm still learning about felling trees. Love any advice i can get
Love the first video, like the way you narrated thru the vid, I need to try that, I have so much to learn on making videos, subscribed
Thanks Ron. You're videos are fun. Just keep learning something new each time
Hi ya'll! I spent the best years of my childhood in Alaska. Fairbanks and Kenai. I have never forgotten Kenai and it is still my favorite place. I am 65 now and am living in the UK. You are doing what I always dreamed of but I let life get in the way and now I am too old (physically) to make a go of it. I fed my sense of adventure that Alaska gave me by joining the Navy and 'Seeing the World', lol. I look forward to watching your channel in order and going along on your journey. Thank you for bringing back so many memories! Sometimes I swear my Dad is sitting right here with me as I watch!
It appears you have planned this thoroughly, confident you will be set by fall. I hope you are going to buy a huge propane tank, it can last months and makes life easier. I mounted my solar vertical only cleaned the snow once it covered the bottom. Vids if you need a cheap solar mount. Good luck.
We'll be researching the solar part later on, thanks for the tips. We plan to use 5 gallon propane tanks during the build, but once we're done then a 300 gallon tank goes in.
@@AlaskanFreedom my 300 only lasted 6 weeks running the Gen 3hr a day
Since the inverter swap haven't used the Gen so this tank might last over a year
Love Craig and Chandra too! He has the most soothing voice
Our Alaska suggested we watch your channel and I am not sorry that I did! ..I am anxious to-follow your journey, as I too, follow Sean in Alaska and Our Alaska..you may like to check out Levi and Becca’s Alaska as they are beginning their homestead also and I follow them on their journey..Alaska has always fascinated me and I so enjoy watching UA-camrs in Alaska..much happiness and joy as you also begin your homestead ..look forward to your next video, Anne😘
Yeah, we love Becca nd Levi also. I offered to race them in our cabin build. Good thing I didn't, they are killing it and they are farther north and have colder winters than where we are.
Found you through Our Alaska. Can't wait to see all you do.
Thank you for checking out our channel.
I heard of y’all from Our Alaska. I look forward to seeing y’all progress with your build.
Thank you so much.
Love Sean!! However I came to your channel by way of Craig and Chandra. I am catching up on yours today 👌👍
Yeah we love both channels. And it's cool they are both located on the Kenai Peninsula also.
Sean In Alaska mentioned you on his last live. So decided to check you out. I'm in Texas.
Thank you. Yes, we've seen you on his live feeds often. Sean is amazing, we love him. We appreciate you checking our channel out as well.
I also came over from Our Alaska. How awesome to be able to follow your journey from the start❣️ Prayers for safety and May God richly bless your journey 🙏🥰 Love the drone shots 😊
Thank you for watching. We are excited to share our journey.
Our Alaska sent me over to your channel. Good luck with your new journey.

So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching
I was referred from Our Alaska channel. Looking forward to following along in your journey. Can’t wait to see the lake without snow. I bet it will be a nice view.
Lake should be thawed and the tent up soon. We are so excited. Thank you for checking out our channel.
I watch both of the channels you said. They are fantastic people 😊.
There are so many great channels we get inspiration and entertainment from. But those are our favorites. And they are both very close to us.
Hi guys, came across your channel when I was scrolling on UA-cam. Living in Queensland Australia, I live in a very different climate to you and I also enjoy watching Sean in Alaska. Looking forward to following your journey.
We really want to visit Australia some day. Thank you so much for following along.
Hi I found your channel from Our Alaska. Looking forward to watching your Alaska journey 😊
Thank you for coming along, we appreciate it.
Welcome to the peninsula….. Heard about you guys from @SeanInAlaska. He is a kick. I used to work with him, but I’m now at the Kenai store. Looking forward to watching your progress.
Thanks for checking out our channel. We shop in that Kenai store once a week. Say hi if you see us.
I subscribed to you because I was led to you by Sean and Shana I think but anyway I will watch your videos. I’ve only watched one so far but we watch more. Keep your head up. Have a good day. Tiny Houston MS ( Len Price )
Getting older there are 2 non negotiables when building my cabin: water on site and a flushable toilet inside. Youd be suprised how good it feels and reduces stress
We'll have neither of those to start. But they are both in long term plans
Hi Jay and Eleinne. I happened across your video and decided to check you guys out. It looks like an amazing property, and I'm excited to see things progress. I follow Sean and Our Alaska as well. Best of luck! -Dusty
2 amazing channels we both love. Thank you for joining us.
Just saw your video. Looking forward to seeing more, so I subscribed. Can’t go wrong backing up to a lake.
Good luck on your adventure
Yeah we were lucky to find this land at a price in our budget
Just found your channel and will continue to watch. Good luck on building your home.
Hi guys, welcome to the UA-cam community. I live in Melbourne Australia & absolutely love watching Alaskan off grid vlogs. I cant wait to watch you guys develop your new life. I’m so jealous lol
Hope we can show enough content that would convince you to come visit our amazing State someday.
@@AlaskanFreedom My husband & I are currently planning a holiday around the US for next year & Im really hoping that can include Canada & Alaska, if not that will definitely be on our do to list for our next visit. We plan to do 2 to 3 trips over there.
Great job and very informative and relaxing.
Thank you for checking out our videos.
Just found your channel. Gonna watch all your video. You guys look like a great couple in the outdoor.
Pat
@@patandandrea thank you
Nice
Hi guys, our alaska sent me over. Excited to follow your journey
We're happy to have you join our journey. Thank you
Another sub from Our Alaska recommendation! I’ve watched those two from the beginning am a big fan! Looking forward to joining you guys on your channel and sharing the progress! Should be pretty cool! Take care!
Thank you, we appreciate the views and subscription.
Our Alaska was spot on. Look forward to watching your progress.
Thank you for watching
Looking forward to following your journey, found you through Our Alaska 🇦🇺
You have some great footage for a startup channel with 300 subscribers. I'm used to 480p video that looks like it was captured on a 1990s flip phone when folks are just starting up. Nikkiski is a pretty area. You get some big wind storms there, so plan accordingly. I'll be following your journey from Big Lake, AK.
New sub here! Number one tip while living in Alaska is Don't eat yellow snow! Unless you spill beer! LOL
LOL....love it.
I found out about your channel at Sean's live today! Looking forward to following along with your build. :)
Thank you
Hi. Our Alaska sent me. I’m excited to follow you as you begin this journey. God bless
Hello I am Mike will love to follow along your channel looks great
There are two channels that I love to watch #Homefreealaska & #Simplelivingalaska.
We also are big fans of both those channels.
Hi. Fellow UA-camr here. Just starting out. Following your journey. Moving from Ohio and building a cabin. Hope to learn a lot from your channel.
Welcome!! Can't wait to get caught up on your channel. We spent a month in your area and came very close to buying land there.
Came over from Our Alaska, good luck with your new place 😊👍
Hi👋😊Came over from Curmudge😊
Tighten up that chain on your saw. It shouldn’t hang so loose it might pop off on you. Good luck on the build.
Thank you for the advice. I just watched a UA-cam video to ensure I'm tightening that correctly in the future. Glad you pointed that out before a tragedy.
Can’t wait for next video…😊
Another channel you might like is Bushradical. His building videos are spot on.
Yeah i do like his content. Thank you
Our Alaska keyed me onto your channel. The only advice I have is more of a preference I think, but instead of the documentary style where you speak over what you are doing with background music, try just talking in the video. This way has more of a feel of being there with you. Just my thoughts 🙂
Thank you for checking out our channel. We watch a lot of other homestead and off-grid channels and I do agree that the talking to the camera style is more entertaining and gives a more personal connection. But it's more work and requires a lot more thinking ahead. We are just doing what's easy and comfortable for us, even if it means less UA-cam success. Maybe someday we'll get better and more comfortable and try it. We really appreciate your input, Richard. Have a great day.
@@AlaskanFreedom I agree. My family is toying with the idea of starting a youtube channel and never thought about the fact it takes more to it that way. Looking forward to your progress:-)
@@RichardMBlain Do it! Can't hurt to try. Let me know if you do and I'll be your first subscriber. We canceled all our streaming and just watch UA-cam videos now.
Wow ...wear earmuffs to protect your hearing. What about a hard hat to protect your head?
I hope you learned from the ones who know what they are doing. 😅
Haha. We've learned a lot of what to do and a lot of what NOT to do. And I'm sure we'll end up being a channel that shows plenty of both.
It's hard to understand you with music playing in the background.
Don't let her do the camera
