Well kids, I wish you luck. Enjoy every day. Some days are "gooder" than others. I lived in Alaska for 51 years,
Ketchikan to Fairbanks and in between. 19 years off grid. When you can afford it have a well put in as that will
make things so much easier. For health reasons I had to move out of state, but I will always miss parts of
Alaska. I do Not miss 40 below and the mosquitoes!! When you make a mistake, step back a few feet, look it
over, laugh about it, and carry on!! Thanks for the videos. I did subscribe, and eventually maybe you can get
monitized. Stay as safe as possible, name the mama moose. Once she finds out it's safe to be in your area she
will return. And, , ,they love pumpkins!!! Thanks for the videos, I am, retired ole Ron.
I’ll be sure and put the Halloween pumpkins out for them this fall 🎃
I love the dogs and how they are always in the mix of things. You are doing a great job on your house.
Hope you make lots of precious memories in your home. Enjoy your beautiful home.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
So glad you are home and not on the road traveling. You have so much work to do . Wish Dad and I could be there to help you. Love Mama bear ❤🩷❤🩷
Good to see you back. I enjoyed all that you accomplished
Thank you!
Craig is a super hard worker, I am so impressed by all he accomplishes.
Once he sets his mind to it he figures out a way to make it happen, no matter how difficult.
Snow ,snow, need a bobcat with a plow!!
Your pups are the stars of the show ❤😊
🐾They sure are 🐾
It's always great to be home.
I’m behind on your videos so I’m catching up but the pups sure seem glad to be home!
Yes they are!
SO much snow!
My cousin lives deep in the woods in Pennsylvania, he always has a chain saw with him for just this reason
I’m 52 year old and I ain’t never wore safety gear but you can’t never tell when something might happen because I’m not walking around in the deep snow either …. Tiny Houston MS ( Len Price )
I've been watching 2 other Alaska families on UA-cam too
Bless your hearts. Glad you got the fire going. Hope everything works out. I loved when you said " great to be back it just feels right". That's exactly how I feel about Alaska. It feels like home in your heart. Looking forward to the next video.❤❤
Dogs r sure helpful clearing the trees
Welcome home looking forward to seeing what's next.
Getting that fire going is the best thing!!! Hope it's not long before you get plowed and wood stacked!!! Now put on a big pot of soup and relax a bit. You have certainly earned it.
Beautiful piece of property. Lots of work.
Thank you 😊
Great to see the return video, now back to work. I like the way you show the real side to life.
Dogs look so happy :) Glad you are home safe and sound. Cheers!
They are so glad to be back! We are too 😊
Yay! You have your fire going! If you scare me again like you did having that ladder on top of the woodstove, we're gonna have a problem. 😱🤣 Another awesome video. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
I gave him what-for when he told me what he did 😂
Great video! You two sure got your work cut out for you. Look forward to next weeks video.
Thank you 😊
Free kindling!
I’ve never had my wife video my honey do list.😂 Great job Chandra! Since you built an almost exact replica of what I want to build…..🤔 We look forward to meeting for some coffee and discussing lessons learned and what you would change. It’s going to save me a lot of time.
A lot of work but I bet it's nice to be home!
It is!
The ladder on the wood stove was right up there with some of the sketchiest things I’ve seen lately. The good thing is you were wearing your safety ty dyed crocks 😂. Hopefully you can get your own snow removal equipment in the future. Glad to see you got your wood stove up and running. Nothing like wood heat.
😂
I am so happy you are back home safe and sound. Also, I love the face protection. It is so nice to see that. Even though there is a lot for you to tackle all you can do is a bit at a time it will get there. Hopefully once the clearing of snow is out of the way then you can move on to next priorities. Also, negative words can be filtered out as part of channel options I’ve been told by someone else who runs one. Stay safe and thanks for the update.
So glad you got everything figured out and were able to get the wood stove going. Hopefully by now things are much easier and you are well on your way to new projects. I just can't imagine living with four huge dogs like that.
They’re a lot sometimes 🐾
That is a huge dumping of snow , bet you folks and the dogs are happy to be home regardless of the work you must now do to clear the snow and start back on the cabin work.Happy for you folks that you got your wood burner working Yay! love your videos and cant wait to see what you do next. Keep warm, Spring is on its way. Watching from Ontario Canada
The snow does make for a lot of extra work but yes, it’s worth it to be home.
It's true, there's no place like home! I'm happy you 2 got your wood stove going, nice n cozy 😌 ✨️
Good job
It will take time to get settled in. Hang in there. You live in a beautiful spot. Take care✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️
Glad your back safely.
Good job fixing the wood fire now at least your be warm
Nice and toasty 🔥
Great video
Thanks!
Nice looking property. Glad you are getting your cabin set up and usable.
Thanks 😊
Nice to see you got the fire going at the end
What a homecoming! 😊 But you are making headway and doing well 👍👏💪🙏
AMAZING HOW YOU CAN DO THIS. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE PICS AND THEN SEE SPRING TIME
I’m looking forward to Spring also 🌼🌸
Me too.
New viewer. Just subscribed.
@@linhaton4957 Welcome to the channel! Thank you for joining us.
You two are an inspiration to soo many. Keep up the great work!
Thank you 😊
Just the thought, of snowshoes and a sled for the wood, teach the dogs to hall it for you?
Great idea!!!! 🐾
In the winter I love the wood stove . I cooked many a meal on a wood stove thrugh the years
It’s such a toasty, comforting warmth.
Spring is coming! cheer up
☀️🌸Looking forward to it. 🌷🌼
Always thought you need a bend in the chimney to make it work properly!
Nope. Bends are just to position the stove.
You should start a side channel for the dogs. i could watch them all day. How fun!
Snowshoes would help a lot.
Those are on the list for winter equipment
ya and need to make a path to the woodshed and outhouse you guys need help with that for sure
In next weeks episode………
Can’t wait to see what’s next after you catch up on snow removal.👍🏼
Waiting for next, good job 😊
Next video comes out Saturday morning 0700 EST
To bad you couldn't get dogs to pull the branches off the road 😅. It is a lot of work when you get home and try to get things organized.
Yes it is!
Here is a tip for you for next winter.
Buy two kitchen dish towels. Lay one flat, fold into thirds (so it looks like an envelope.). Sew the short sides. Now you have a perfect size towel cozy to hold a typical “Nalgene” brand water bottle. Nalgene bottles can hold boiling water with no damage to them. Boil water, put it in your dish towel bag, and keep yourself warm all night long! One of our houses would get down to 30 degrees inside in we did not keep the fire going all night. With a couple blankets and a boiling Nalgene we always slept very comfortably. I highly recommend this!
Don’t take my word on it, Google boiling water Nalgene bottle. It is a great camping hack as well.
So This dish towel:
_______.

Turns into
__

Once it is folded.
We’ll definitely keep it mind. Luckily we got the wood burner sorted out and it’s actually been keeping the house so warm we often have to crack a window open and sleep with a fan on. We do plan on doing some beach camping and even during the summer the nights get chilly so maybe we’ll boil a pot of water over the campfire and give your trick a try. Thanks 😊
@@ouralaskahomestead We are from Fairbanks. The day vs night temps do not change much in Fairbanks in the summer and winters.
Thanks for sharing your videos!
Just started following use guys watched the first post of building the house….done great job….looking forward to catching up….Elaine from Scotland…
Welcome Elaine, thank you for joining us 🩵
There's no place like home😊
You’ve got that right🩵
Welcome home 🇬🇧😊
Thank you 😊
you have some beautiful dogs? Tiny Houston MS ( Len Price )
Thank you 🐾
He's a grown ass man who is going to do as he wants to
Exactly! He knows it’s dangerous, he also knows it has to get done one way or another.
You need some snowshoes. That snow is deep
Yeah, snowshoes would definitely help.
Where in Alaska is your cabin, what town. I'm in Liberty N.C., just subscribed to y'all channel the other day, love it ❤️
Near Homer
Where is the damper for your stove??
It didn’t have one. It does now though.
Man you are crazy for doing that. Too dangerous
Better b careful about not keeping griz defence with you everyday every dogs are a great warming system but they will not even slow a Kodiak or a moma moose.b safe ..
We do have quite a few moose, an occasional black bear. No Kodiaks here and most the grizzlies are further inland and north. We do carry if we go out hiking.
Dude needs gaters and snow shoes
first time water, thanks for sharing this video with us, just wondering do you have something to plow your driveway. and do you live in this cabin full time or is it getaway cabin.
It’s our full time home but we had to leave in October to help family after a house fire in TN. We just got back 2/4/24. We do have a plow on the SxS and that will be fine for keeping it clear normally but being gone the first half of winter let the snow build up too much for even regular truck plows to clear it. They keep getting stuck. Gonna need a loader or just have to wait until Spring.
You should have supervision
😂 probably
Careful having that plastic that close to the wood stove.
dude that is so unsafe on so many levels i pray you rethink that
One step forward 2 steps back!
Seems like that’s always the way
Now the ladder on the wood stove, come on an accident about to happen, surely you are building a house and have a taller ladder, anyone would have known that the snow would knock out the chimney and when first installing it that was essential , that’s ok you have your tv so you can be entertained while you recover. Living in Alaska is not a game.
You need to shovel out a jeep? You need to snow plow for a jeep?
Yes
you guys need a tractor or something to help plow the snow and dig you out and feel all work you have to do
Yeah, A tractor would be amazing! Don’t know anyone with one lying around do ya? 😂
Is this a Saturday Night Live skit?
It sure could be 😂
Ok. I am 2 minutes into the video and have to respond. You need to start thinking ahead. Get an extra key and keep it at the house. Everyone should do this simple thing, all part of surviving and being independent. Your in Alaska, put on your big boy pants.
Being independent? If you watch the entire video you will see we made it into the house without assistance from anyone. Yes we should have an extra key, thought we did. We gave it to our son to hold on to case of emergency. We hadn’t met up with him to get it yet. The house key that was on this key ring must have been for our old place. Simple mistake. We all make them.
Just click on the three little dots next to the name of this type of person and hit "block", so they will never be able to comment on any video again.@@ouralaskahomestead
@@Otsalia it’s tempting but even the bad comments help get our channel boosted in the UA-cam algorithm.
I just hope you are not risking yourself for content. You really have to think of how you would get to help if you fell off the ladder that is balancing on your wood stove. Especially in remote areas. plus you can barely walk out to your vehicle in the deep snow let alone if you are injured badly.
It’s definitely not for content we make very little $ from UA-cam. Certainly not enough to pay even an urgent care bill let alone an ER visit. No, this is Craig doing boy stuff, thinking he’s still 25. I wasn’t even home to take him to the emergency room if he had fallen. Still can’t get the Jeep out so he’d have been laying there with a broken neck until I got off work at 7pm. Its a prime example of why women live longer than men 😂
Hey Pete that was down right dumb to do ?????😴
Who’s Pete?
O my God, get off your ass and help.
We’ve got a good balance. Chandra doesn’t like to be on camera so a lot of what she does you don’t see or she’s filming.
