    Check out Mathis modding the stock k member. There’s a few things you can do to a stock k member to improve the geometry.

    Great video! Good info. You are correct on all your points and what you have done is definitely working. Been pretty quick out there! Keep up the good work and the videos!

    this will have many of the things you said, but i think this will help some!!!
    from RC where we change Roll Center a bunch and can do it fast. i can give tips that might transfer over.
    the upper links (a-arm/upper angle) is used best for controlling the camber angle (kinda like how caster works). if you have the upper links (a-arm/upper angle) higher at the tire (down at body) you gain negative camber. if they are even to the ground you gain zero. if the upper arm (angle) is lower at the tire and high at the body you gain + camber.

      Wow that's a lot of good information. One day I hope to have a double wishbone and be able to have all those adjustments available.

      @@RinerAutomotive yea a macpherson suspension must suck. even when tuning with shocks... laying the shock down make the suspension soft and stiffens up as it compresses Vs the shock being straight up and down makes it more linear. so to make the shock right you could screw everything else up.

    Very interesting video. I’m curious if you took tire temps during this process. On my fox body I did what everyone did at first and lowered it too much with springs that were too soft. My tire temps on the outside edge was too high which showed itself in terrible tire wear on track. I modified my crossmember with re drilled control arm holes, added longer control arms and stiffer springs. In the end my tire temps evened out across the face of the tire and wear after a track day is much improved. Oh and turn in is incredible. I love letting some people who think Mustangs can’t work go for a rip and see shock on their faces lol

      I have not taken tire temperatures. I need to get a pyrometer though. I have used chalk on the side wall before to adjust tire pressures. Right now I run around 33 psi front and 27 psi rear.
      I've looked at adjusting the k member attachment points but there isn't much room to move upwards. I don't think there are longer oem arms for a SN95. But I've heard it helps on the fox.

      Yea I enjoy proving a mustang can be fast and beat way more expensive cars. Especially these older mustangs with a solid rear axle and no coil overs.

      @@RinerAutomotive I used 88 T Bird control arms. They’re 3/4 of an inch longer if my memory is correct. I think they are similar to your control arms. On a Fox they’re a huge improvement.

    Great video, question for you. Will using a extended ball joint on the upper and lower help just as much. Or should you just stick with extending the lower only.

    • @RinerAutomotive
      @RinerAutomotive  2 роки тому

      What vehicle are you referring to? I'm only talking about Mustangs which are strut suspensions and only have a lower ball joint.

      @@RinerAutomotive Hi, I have a 1988 Chevy s10 all performance, nothing stock. I have the Qa1 upper and lower control arms and coil over shocks. It's not my daily driver. Within 6 years all 4 ball joint rubbers are torn up. Qa1 has a solid rebuildable ones to replace what I have they also have them with a longer shaft coming in at 0.500 longer in length. I didn't know if it was a good idea to replace lower and top with the extended shaft to perhaps help compensate from the front end being dropped lower because of the smaller size spindle?

      Not knowing all the suspension geometry it's hard to say for sure. But modeling up a simple double wishbone it seems extended BJ on upper and lower will raise the roll center in both cases. There is such thing as going too high with roll center.
