You need a crab net so you dont have to bring the fish to the bank everytime. Smoked carp is amazing and the best way to prepare. Pressure canned is good too and the bones resolve which is why most people dont mess with eating carp.
Starting to think I'm going to try to bleed out all my fish that I eat, hopefully to have blood free fillet's or even eating the fish whole. Seen where on one species all you have to do is remove the left side gill's since the fishes heart pump's blood thru that side and the right gills is the return to the fishes heart. Note, that was just an example I watched for that particular fish species. Worth trying I figure!
DEER RECOVERY TRACKING DOG stabbing a fish between the two fins just behind the gills on the belly of the fish usually stabs the heart and they bleed out quickly that way.
, here in California I used to inflate a two-man raft and tie off underneath the awnings at boat docks in certain Lakes during the early fall we would use bait made from bread and water just firm enough 2 cast but not too firm so as the hook wouldn't cut through the bait once we hooked up on the fish we would untie our raft and let him tell us around the marina it was great fun.
I definately agree with what Damin Osborne said, but when you fillet you leave skin attached and score from inside down to skin. Bite sized or a little larger pieces usually will curl as it fries, cooking the small y bones. Canned carp is also good.
We eat it up here in Missouri but I’ve only had it fried. We scale, fillet and then score the fillet. It curls up when you fry it and the bones cook out . Look into it and try that before you completely give up on Carp/Buffalo.
Hey bro many blessings to u mullet man ur gal and ur little you gin to be God and Jesuses 👼. Keep Rockin bub ur fan and friend Rob from Virginia!! Ur videos always make my day thank u Sir!!!!!
I made a curry like that last night added more vegetables and coconut milk the fried mahi with a coconut crust put the coconut curry over the top of fish and rice i was in heaven but i think i could cook my boot in that and still make it takes good
Try it again please. This is amazing. You first have to make a brine, water and salt mixture maybe with some brown sugar. You add canning salt to just enough water to cover the fish. Slowly add salt and stir, until a raw egg just barely floats in the mixture. Brine the fish for at least 12 hours. I set it at 180 for two hours check the meat and then smoke accordingly until it's done normally about four hours depending how thick the fish is etc. You do not want to overcook it but you also don't want it not completely cooked. You can use almost any hardwood but I like Apple or hickory maple probably would work, or other fruit trees. I normally add a decent amount at first and then add some more after the first two hours
You are more courageous than me Mullet Man! Ordered my Critter Glitter Fish & Fowl & Red! Can't wait to try them on some of this Alabama fish & wildlife. Loved the video!
Carp has 2 rows of small bones. It's best to peel the skin and cut 2 lines on the outside of the bones. You can feel them with your fingers. And just fillet the 3 strips out. Carp is great as ceviche! I dnt recommend chopping it! You break the bones n just make it a workout to eat! Keep up the great content my friend! I'm from South Texas, just south of Laredo
Geez a quarter million subs?? Felt like just yesterday I came across this channel with little less than 10k and was a fan ever since! Keep it up and Eat Good!
Bleed it, use the same recipe and cook it in a pressure cooker for an hour or more until the bones cook out or soft, take the fish out and patty, fry them up and thank me later
With carp you have to skin them and cut the Blood line out. Same thing with bass that you catch in the summer. Back in the day my Russian friend used to bring me what he called candied carp. It was a little sweet and was stuffed with stuffing and beets. It was one of the most unique and amazing fish dish I have ever had. My friend passed away. Many years ago. I always think of him when people talk about eating carp.
Awesome vid! We love to eat carp as ceviche. With some sweet potatoes and thin slices of habanero pepper on top. Only way will eat carp, the lime will dissolve all the bones when you do it ceviche style. Trust me you’ll like it.
My bf used to catch river carp, keep them alive, put in a washtub with a hose trickling in it,, after 2 days the carp would look like a big pale goldfish and the flavor was very much like Alaskan whitefish or pollock 🐟🤗💋
Mullet man you need to have cut the tail same time as the head and fillited the carp and soaked it in milk for over night that will help get rid of the mud taste you could even try soaking them in butter milk and turn them into fish cakes but you make great vids it's what keeping me sain through the quarantine lock down where I live
Awesome. Maybe I'll give it a try. You should look up a fellow You Tube guy Luke at Catfish and Carp. I've been watching him just before you started. He has his own recipe for carp bait and a unique way to rig up his line. He travels all over the globe fishing. He's a lawyer by trade. He rarely eats what he catches but very informative.
Smoked Fish Spread Recipe(work's good with most bony rough fish, even Carp). -Brine fillet's in water, salt, and brown sugar(enough salt and brown sugar to float a egg). -After a good 8 hour or longer in brine, rinse off excess brine/salt off fillet's in cold water. -Smoke fillet's until done(2-4 hours). -Allow fillet's to cool and drain on paper towel to soak up an excess oils. Smoked Fish Spread Recipe -Use a meat grinder(work's best for bony fish that it grind's up most of the bone's). -Grind up smoked fillet's, onion's, celery and minced garlic(you can add other ingredients). -Add enough Mayonnaise to ground up mixture to make it pasty. Eat as a appetizer or a snack on a Ritz style cracker with a few cold beer's! I've made this Smoked Fish Spread Recipe for year's and it's a favorite. I've made it with Catfish, Red Horse, Sucker's and Salmon. Using a meat grinder, grind's up most bony fish that you don't have or notice any bone's when eating. Once in a while I'll grind up some Jalapeno's into a separate mixture that give's the Smoke Fish Spread a little bite!
Our neighbor used to take all the carp we caught. They loved em. Somehow they would boil them so the bones were soft and make patties like salmon patties.
I had a friend that would pressure cook the carp to make the bones soft. Once the pressure cooking was complete they would then chop up the meat and bones and make into a salmon patty using the same technique and then pan fry the patties and it was delicious!
If you cut the carp into small pieces and pressure cook it then you can form it into patties like salmon patties. The pressure cooking dissolves the bones and The Taste is great!
here some tips for carp eating .. first after scaled em and cut soaked em in a tamarind juice or lemon juice with some salt in it.. after 5 min or 10 wash it and rinse then cooked what u desire ... the bone well i dont have any tip just eat slowly .. lol since we born with bone fish here so no problems at all. happy fishing and eating.
@ChumPODS: free Corn: $0.89 Canopener: $10.49 Watching you walk through the carp graveyard of sludge and yuck, then LOSE the fish: Priceless (Might as keep the can opener in the truck for a someday who knows what might need for.)
There's a streak of dark meat runs lengthwise through the fish. Carp over 5 pounds or so need this removed, otherwise it will have an influence on the flavor. Carp have an acquired taste. I grew up eating carp and catfish. Usually just flour/corn meal, salt n pepper, fried in crisco. Looks like you had a good day. Hope you have many, many more.
C'mon Mullet Man you know the carp code. Bleed, Brine, Smoke. It's also good for pickling. Smoking it will also help with bone removal. You can make fish patties or fish dip/ spread with the deboned meat.
Been watching for a while mullet man even got a 2 year mullet of my own. Finally pulled the trigger on some merch and it came in today a Sunday. Glad to watch while I get this work done
Yeah, bleeding it is key. Also, if you score the meat down to the y bones and fry it in hot oil it makes the bones brittle and easy to eat. Marinating helps too. Lol.
in Germany we have a special carp bone cutting machine. The bones are cut down to small eatable pieces, and so the entire filet is good to eat. I think you guys in the US are so lucky to having an abundance of carp.
Best carp recipe is as follows: season carp anyway you like, bake in oven at 400 degrees on cedar plank until outside of carp is burnt to a crisp ( longer the better) after carp is done let it rest for 15 mins. Then throw the carp away and eat the cedar plank.
Bleed the carp out, then mince it up in a grinder, the y bones mince real good, and make poor man fish patties lol, how I grew up on em, good as hell to me!!
I don’t want to be that guy, but if you’re going to eat carp, ALWAYS bleed the fish and smoke it. A good bring is key. They are more diverse and taste much better if smoked.
You have to pressure cook it brother, makes the bones soft so you can eat them, like sardines. Then make salmon patties out of them and bread and fry them.
Soak carp meat in water with large amount of salt about half cup and let it sit 15 to 20 minutes when bubles appear wash carp meat in water then breading to fry
Need to try pressure cooking and making fish cakes. Will soften or disintegrate the bones. My great uncle used to eat them a lot but I think he fried his.
You need to watch the video on the Catfish and Carp channel on how to prepare carp. He shows you the how the bones are, and how to cut around them prior to cooking.
I was told a long time ago, by my great uncle, that if you cook Carp in a pressure cooker it helps with all of the bones. I’ve personally never tried it. But, it does make sense. Anybody ever tried that?
It is possible to get boneless chuncks out if you know what your doing youtube has lots of great vids on filleting the y bones out. You can also score smaller sized ones like that that effectively takes care of the bones. Search scoring a carp. Good eating.
I love carp fishing eat good
You need a crab net so you dont have to bring the fish to the bank everytime. Smoked carp is amazing and the best way to prepare. Pressure canned is good too and the bones resolve which is why most people dont mess with eating carp.
If you bleed the carp it actually tastes good. That's the key
It doesn't taste like mud after bleeding?
DEER RECOVERY TRACKING DOG stabbing a fish between the two fins just behind the gills on the belly of the fish usually stabs the heart and they bleed out quickly that way.
Yess I bleed mine out when I caught it
ua-cam.com/video/nITbACS2gjQ/v-deo.html
My Grandfather used to spear them in the spring just after ice out in SD. Clear clean water. He would brine them and smoke them. Oh so good!
I know soaking fish in milk helps. I've mainly done it with Catfish because of their muddy taste.
Bleeding fish helps too.
, here in California I used to inflate a two-man raft and tie off underneath the awnings at boat docks in certain Lakes during the early fall we would use bait made from bread and water just firm enough 2 cast but not too firm so as the hook wouldn't cut through the bait once we hooked up on the fish we would untie our raft and let him tell us around the marina it was great fun.
Hey mullet man, can you do another snake catch and cook and show us how to preserve the skin
Would love to see a gator catch, clean , cook video when they are in season. Love the videos!
Me too!
Highly agreed!
You should do a primitive hunt with a homemade bow using some of those arrowheads you found.
I definately agree with what Damin Osborne said, but when you fillet you leave skin attached and score from inside down to skin. Bite sized or a little larger pieces usually will curl as it fries, cooking the small y bones. Canned carp is also good.
Can we get a catch clean and cook on bull frog legs.
We eat it up here in Missouri but I’ve only had it fried. We scale, fillet and then score the fillet. It curls up when you fry it and the bones cook out . Look into it and try that before you completely give up on Carp/Buffalo.
Damien Osborne x2 with the curl for bone removal.
Have had them cooked that way when I was a kid. good eats.
I’ve always heard this is the best way but I’ve never been able to figure out they way they score it.
Grass carp is fantastic. Trippin'. Beautiful firm, white meat. I love it.
Mullet man is the man!
Hey bro many blessings to u mullet man ur gal and ur little you gin to be God and Jesuses 👼. Keep Rockin bub ur fan and friend Rob from Virginia!! Ur videos always make my day thank u Sir!!!!!
Hey mullet man here in the Texas Mexico border we use those small to medium sized carp to do ceviche those bones will disappear with the Limon juice
I thought Iv seen it all, 🤦♂️ then chum pods, it’s actually pretty brilliant!
I made a curry like that last night added more vegetables and coconut milk the fried mahi with a coconut crust put the coconut curry over the top of fish and rice i was in heaven but i think i could cook my boot in that and still make it takes good

You can boil the carp in till it fall off the bone mesh up and make fish cake out of them
You are more courageous than me Mullet Man! Ordered my Critter Glitter Fish & Fowl & Red! Can't wait to try them on some of this Alabama fish & wildlife. Loved the video!

I don’t even fish and I love your videos
Used to eat carp when I was young. Soaked in milk for 24 hrs and fried em. They were great.
Geez a quarter million subs?? Felt like just yesterday I came across this channel with little less than 10k and was a fan ever since! Keep it up and Eat Good!
It’s great to see the channels growth, I’ve been watching since you started. Keep living life to its fullest, and stay safe!!!🙏🏻🇺🇸
If you can cut the mud vein out and soak it in lemon juice and buttermilk for 12 hours it's not too bad.
We need a Mullet Man Cook Book...just sayin...
Lol why? Its any animal= critter glitter
by far the goofiest mullet man hat you make lol
"Hope that comes out ok." I'm over here laughin my ass off cuz of how nonchalant you said it.
The belly meat doesn't have bones... The rest can be deboned and made into fish patties
Bleed it, use the same recipe and cook it in a pressure cooker for an hour or more until the bones cook out or soft, take the fish out and patty, fry them up and thank me later
Right where you are at is where I get my biggest yellow cat
Soak the fillets in buttermilk and it will help the carp not taste bad. Also pressure cook it and make carp patties they're delicious
I heard if you smoke it the ribs come out awesome. I haven't tried it but I've heard about it.
Try the 1000 cut method to see if you can fry the bones out, I know it works well with shad, also try it in the pressure cooker

Been watching for a while mullet man even got a 2 year mullet of my own. Finally pulled the trigger on some merch and it came in today a Sunday. Glad to watch while I get this work done
You can debone a carp easy just cut it like it was a big tuna there is a veterinarian that did a video showing how check it out
Yeah, bleeding it is key. Also, if you score the meat down to the y bones and fry it in hot oil it makes the bones brittle and easy to eat. Marinating helps too. Lol.

Yesss finally u did that carp is so delicious especially fried I caught a carp that was stuck at a pond it taste like chicken
in Germany we have a special carp bone cutting machine. The bones are cut down to small eatable pieces, and so the entire filet is good to eat. I think you guys in the US are so lucky to having an abundance of carp.
Do you know where I could find more information on that machine (website, video, etc)? I'd love to see how it works.
Love your videos mullet man

Hi im 14 years old and i caught my pb fish yesterday, it was around 9-10kg it was huggge carp. In the same like my dad caught a 5kg carp.
Bleed the carp out, then mince it up in a grinder, the y bones mince real good, and make poor man fish patties lol, how I grew up on em, good as hell to me!!
Maybe you should look into a drop net for fishing of high spots like that.. Good to have and not really that expensive
I don’t want to be that guy, but if you’re going to eat carp, ALWAYS bleed the fish and smoke it. A good bring is key. They are more diverse and taste much better if smoked.
14:45. I want one of those Mulletman cutting boards.
Do a ground squirrel catch and cook
You have to pressure cook it brother, makes the bones soft so you can eat them, like sardines. Then make salmon patties out of them and bread and fry them.
Fillet and deboning a bigger carp correctly with your same recipe will be food for a king :-)
Hay you have an awsome channel. (Great vids)
Pressure cooking takes care of the y bone and they end up tasting pretty good
Catch and cook Gar
Wow I recognize that place by Lake Whitney! I use to go there all the time.
Soak carp meat in water with large amount of salt about half cup and let it sit 15 to 20 minutes when bubles appear wash carp meat in water then breading to fry
You need a rice cooker, my friend. Best thing ever
Yeeyee!
I watched the first video just today and was wondering if you would ever give carp another try and I go to youtube home page and bam here it is lol
Need to try pressure cooking and making fish cakes. Will soften or disintegrate the bones. My great uncle used to eat them a lot but I think he fried his.
You gotta score those fillets so the bones cook out
Got to cut out all of the red bloodline crap and soak in salt water for 24 hours and we use oatmeal balls for bait
You need to watch the video on the Catfish and Carp channel on how to prepare carp. He shows you the how the bones are, and how to cut around them prior to cooking.
Catch,Clean, Cook Groundhog
cook the ribs in the carp they are good then.
Nice video. Glad you stomached it better than the grilled carp. 😂
“Hope that comes out okay”😂😂
I was told a long time ago, by my great uncle, that if you cook Carp in a pressure cooker it helps with all of the bones. I’ve personally never tried it. But, it does make sense. Anybody ever tried that?
