After many attempts starting from scratch - still no option-click title bar, have SOLVED it by re-opening (within Max: File -> Open Recent) to access the bare sub-patcher. Even before implementing thispoly~ Ii works.
Hey, Max noobie, using Max 7, thought I'd share some things I found working through this video. 1. I had to use a numbers object instead of message to see the notein note # and velocity 2. If you lock the window you can double click on the notein object to choose the MIDI port etc. it receives MID from 3. Opt click did not work for me on the subpatch window, I had to click a little pencil icon in the lower left corner of the subpatch window to allow editing of the subpatch. 4. I found it very useful to output the audio to a scope object so I could see what was happening before I unmuted the audio. Learned this the hard way with a brutal squall of saw wave when I created some kind of feedback loop by accident early on in the patch :) Thanks for the video!
Go with the cursor on the Video Space, you´ll see a little cogwheel-symbol, click on that, than click on “Speed” and set the value instead of 1 to 0.75 or 0.5
Hi Sonia, you've probably worked this out by now, but go into the poly~ object and delete the sub patch name 'Synth_voice', then enter this name again. This will ensure that the poly~ object is accessing your most recently saved version of the sub patch, which includes the specialised outlet.
Hey, I noticed there was no download for this. Often in tutorials the objects themselves don't get explained so I build a patch following a tutorial and learn nothing from it. I don't suppose this could be uploaded somewhere could it? I think it's easier to learn Max by opening up loads of different patches, using some initiative and dissecting them.
I've built this exactly as you described but it's still monophonic. It's a better sounding mono than before but still mono. No idea where i'm going wrong.
How is it that you are able to click down and simply insert a patch, in my version all my patch options are fixed to the side. It would be nice if i had a pop up window such as yours
5'18" I put "out~ 1" in the sub-patch (and saved it), but outlet does not appear in encapsulated "synth_voice 16 @steal 1" object. What's wrong in my programming?
@@C74connect Thanks for reply. The issue was solved while I still do not understand what was cause. Now I am struggling with another"poly~" problem. It is tough though.
This is excellent instruction.
err ... however, option- clicking on the sub patch title bar does nothing at all, am i missing something?
(please note that I'm very new to this)

Thank you! Your comment helped a lot!
I don't get the ideas of swap.. why swap, if things have to reverse it twice and get the same bang output result from right to left?
i'd use pak after the notein
Everything makes sense except prepend midinote turns all incoming midi notes into the same pitch for me
How would I go about controlling the ADSR values from the main patch?
Go with the cursor on the Video Space, you´ll see a little cogwheel-symbol, click on that, than click on “Speed” and set the value instead of 1 to 0.75 or 0.5
they are different. There is also a supercollider object that runs in max. It is like saying hammers are better than screwdrivers.
hi! I'in my patch "multiply" object seem dosen't work without a number and when adsr connected
what happened to route patch cords?? just joking. quite an informative video. thanks!
there is still no outlet on my poly~ object, and my sub patch looks the exact same. I'm using max 7. Anyone have any ideas?

@@stephenbarnett2332 THANK YOU
@2:55 what is the shortcut being used for opening up the subpatcher?
you can just double-click on it
you have saved my life!

how would you set up dials, outside of the "synth_voice" patch, for controlling the "adsr"?
you need to add more event inlets [in 1] and [in 2] etc.
how do you change the envelope

please send it to support if you can't connect to the forum
did you remember prepend midinote?
Same fuck sake
4:47 how do you option click on the windows version ?
did you find out?
command or control double click on the subpatcher while the patch is unlocked.

What is that midi keyboard??
I love how simple it looks.
just followed your vid and i am getting doesn,t understand unpak and allso same with saw what,s going on ??

Hi Jun - please post this as thread on our forum with a copy of your patch, you'll get plenty of help there :)

fire
thanks for your solution, although i found one myself yesterday!
The whole edge thing happened so fast, still hard to understand :/
Thanks dude.
that is true
you're wrong. for me who programmed a lot in c++ and php it looks very illogical.
See how to protect and license your MAX/MSP app at www.excelsoftware.com/max
Something tells me you've never actually used Max...
supercollider is better
your mama is better
what a dumb software... god please...
