One of my all-time favorite F1 onboards. The combination of a highly talented driver, a plucky underdog of a car, a challenging circuit, and pushing to the absolute limit on a qualifying run is a combination difficult to beat. The fact that Capelli managed to drag this car to 4th on the grid with this lap makes it even better to watch.
This was a great lap🙂Real shame the car packed up before the 2nd Start and Ivan had to join the race from the Pitlane (even that didn't last long). If he'd started from his grid slot and had reliability, then a Podium could have been on, as he'd probably have been somewhere near Patrese and Alboreto, maybe even ahead of them.
Damn peraltada corner was tooooooooooo long, now I understand why they changed the lay out. Those years of f1 with bumpy tracks, manual gearboxes, completely different way of driving styles.
This Mexico track is also 1 of my favorites. Great memories of Prost, Mansell, Senna, and a host of other older veteran drivers competing on this track!❤
This gives a little clue about what an intense physical workout driving these cars were. The insane G forces, the lack of true suspension, changing the gears etc.
If the fact that Gugelmin failed to qualify the same car at the same race is any indicator, Capelli was driving at another level that weekend. Also, after doing manual timing with a stopwatch, this is indeed the lap that secured 4th on the grid for Capelli.
@@azam829 the leyton house march effort didnt disgrace themselves in any way, they were frequently up in the midfield places. March all but got killed off by a reversal of fortunes in the USA when their indycar market collapsed , I think leyton house withdrew their interest at the end of 1991.
Mais um carro de Adrian Newey , q diziam só " funcionar " em pistas sem ondulações, mas correu bem na ondulada pista do México ! E ainda existia a Peraltada !!!
No power steering, insanely bumpy circuits, very stiff suspension and 2000-4000 gear shifts per race. Thats why drivers back in those days still lost the same amount of weights as drivers today after the race (3kg)
You’re hearing the undertones of the exhaust note. Other motors (Patrese’s Renault V10 in the 1989 Williams) sound a lot like a V8 at high revs from the onboard. And if you watch Stefano Modena’s lap at Silverstone 1990 in a Brabham, you can hear the V12 tones inside the V8. Has to do with the exhaust pulses, fascinating stuff. But I hear it too a little, you’re not crazy
La frizione col sinistro e col destro freno + doppietta (il colpetto di gas per farla entrare meglio).Oggi quel colpetto è gestito dalla centralina così come lo stacco dell’acceleratore durante il cambio marcia

And that sexy V8 powering it to fourth is like a musical single by Queen!
You watch this, and Hamilton's onboard footage will look like a playstation game
Ahh creí que no volvería a ver este video. Sin duda marcó mi infancia y la emoción que tenía por la F1.
Peraltada corner was a real challenge!
They really considered the bumpy road surfaces as a part of the race back then.

🔝👊🏎🏁
Ivan Capelli was underrated. The crappy 92 Ferrari was poison for his career.
The Leyton House March was a beautiful beautiful racing car.
Too bad they had crappy motors. Those cars almost never finished a race.
Designed by Adrian Newey IIRC.

If only they were as reliable and fast as they were pretty...
It was a good design car
Once, before automatic gear, at the end of the race the drivers were physically destroyed. Another sport compared to today's F1
No power steering
Dumbest comment ever - no F1 car has ever used an automatic gearbox, and drivers today are still exhausted after getting out of the car after a race
wow that old Peraltada corner!!
I miss the old mexico track and it's better than the today
This Mexico track is also 1 of my favorites.

The Leyton House March was one of my favorite cars of that time in F1.
Another Adrian Newey masterpiece!
Anything 1989 is golden, my favorite era of F1

Capelli said reutemann was there tell his team who is the designer of car? Was rocket in Peraltada. Come out a young bald man from box. Adrian newey
Capelli in his prime. A crying pity the Ferrari cauldron ruined him as he was a talented pedaller.

That is f1! Amazing ! Pure plaisure ! Yeah!!!
A F1 hoje e para mocas
Strongly Agree
I believe this was his qualify run where he got the 4th place on the grid at that race.
Really? Isn't he driving a Leyton House?
@@dustinpohl2483 Leyton House or March, whatever you would call it. Although it was a shit car, it got good results some times lmao

Is it me or does this engine sounds like the current Mercedes V6 Turbo Hybrid? (It really sound similiar to the 2017-2019 versions.)

Sekhy Hybrid no. V8 Atmo vs V6 Hybrid. Totally different note
Same RPMs
Its a v8 :v
The downote sounds similar but you're are not paying attention to the complete sound. It sounds really really different.
