"The feels have got us all :("
My AO3 "Good Omens/Ineffable Husbands" fanfiction collection (especially the "season 2 fix-it" fanfics) should make you and everyone else feel better, see the link in my reply to jekkiefan.
"Hopefully I should have another ambience coming out in the next few weeks!"
      Yes, more of that please!
      Mimi.
Edit: I will post the link to my fanfic collection in the "community" section of your channel (the comment section of your most recent post there) because UA-cam won't let me post it here in the comment section of your video. What a bother. I hate when UA-cam does this.
Edit: you haven't posted anything in the "community" section of your channel, so there's no comment section there where I can share the link to my fanfiction collection with you and jekkiefan. Stupid UA-cam won't let me post the link in the comment section of your video (it doesn't let people post non-UA-cam links in the comment sections of videos most of the time), when this happens I can only share link in the comment section of a person's post in the "community" section of their channel. It pisses me off and saddens me that UA-cam won't let me share the link to my comforting fanfiction collection so I can share it with you and Jekkiefan and other people who are still trying to cope with the awful heartbreaking ending of season 2. If you get a chance, make a post in the "community" section of your channel and I'll share the link with you in the comment section of that post. It's the only loophole that exists that let me share a link with someone because stupid Youtibe want to be the authoritarian control freak police and monitor and control content creators' comment sections instead of letting content creators decide which comments and links they want in their comment sections or not. The content creators should be the sole arbitrers of what they want in their comment section or not. But UA-cam want to act like normal UA-cam is the same as UA-cam Kids and micropolice everything that's posted here, even a link to AO3. Speaking of Youtibe Kids, they don't even monitor it properly and there's age-innapropriate or non kind friendly content that ends up on there (just like the UA-cam staff shouldn't treat normal UA-cam as if it was the same as UA-cam Kids and the government shouldn't get involved in what content kids can and cannot watch because the it's the parents right to make those decisions for themselves, the government ought to stay out of private matters and private decisions like women making their own decisions about their own bodies and their future, consenting trans adults getting gender surgery, and what content should other people's kids be allowed to watch, the government shouldn't be allowed to interfere in private matter and personal decisions, people have the right to privacy). But normal UA-cam isn't UA-cam Kids and they need to stop blocking users from sharing links and information with other UA-camrs in the comment sections of videos.
Also, I couldn't agree more with those guys about censorship and fascism 'cause they're telling it like it is:
      ua-cam.com/video/HgqKFBN3Joc/v-deo.html
      ua-cam.com/video/ExJGn2L-xbk/v-deo.html

      jekkiefan,
You know what could help you deal with post-season 2 feels?
Great fanfictions, especially the "season 2 fix-it" fanfics, garanteed to make you feel better, you'll find that in my AO3 collection (as of now it contains nearly 100 great "Good Omens/Ineffable Husbands" fanfics and I will add more in the next few weeks):
I will post the link to my fanfic collection in the "community" section of F**kUPestilence's channel (the comment section of her most recent post there) because UA-cam won't let me post it here in the comment section of her video. What a bother. I hate when UA-cam does this.
      Enjoy. :)
      Oh and, you're welcome.

I didn’t realize this was so new!!! I love it so much! Do you have any tips for people wanting to make their own ambience videos?

    • @fkupestilence8471
      @fkupestilence8471  Рік тому +12

Thank you! I’m glad you like it 💙
I’m by no means an expert, but I can explain how I make my ambiences and hopefully some it will be helpful to you in coming up with your own process.
This got kind of long (sorry) so I made headings to summarise each ‘tip’ 😅
      *Sources*
I get all my sounds from freesound.org, and it’s got pretty much everything you could want. For my videos, I find high quality background images from just Google or the Good Omens behind-the-scenes photos, and then I add overlay lighting and effects from a free package I got here on UA-cam (search for something like “free overlay effects” and then whatever you specifically need, such as “light flare” or “beams” or “dust”).
      *Content/structure*
I structure my ambiences with roughly four groups of sounds according to their purpose. I have: background noises that set the scene and provide continuous sound, some regular noises that can fill a lot of the time, some little ‘scenes’ to add personality and character and centre the ambience in a specific fandom, and some occasional little noises to spice things up now and then.
So, in this one: the fireplace and wind noises are the background, the book pages flipping and Crowley sleeping and on his phone are the regular filler noises, the moments where they drink together are the ‘scenes’, and the animal sounds are the occasionals.
If you’re as overly-meticulous as me, it can help to act out some of the scenes to work out exactly what noises are needed for each step to flow together.
      *Variation*
The main thing that’s important to *me* when putting my gathered sounds together is stochasticity. Ideally, I don’t want any few seconds of audio to sound exactly the same.
Layering different sounds on top of each other or offsetting loops so that they don’t always start simultaneously, using different takes from the same set of sounds, and splitting or reordering sounds when I’m reusing them are some of the ways I do this. For example, you hear Crowley sleeping twice in this ambience, but they will be over different parts of the background track, the second time is longer, has an owl hooting during it, breaks in a different place, and has a different waking up noise. Sometimes I use random number generators to help me decide what order to put things in so that I’m not creating patterns where I don’t want to.
This is all just me though; there are many great ambiences that aren’t as focused on avoiding repeats, so don’t feel that you have to do any of this.
      *Filters*
I edit in Audacity which has loads of filters that can help get sounds exactly how you want them or add variation. Mostly I’ve used the Lowpass filter to make things sound muffled and distant, and the Echo filter to create the impression of a large room. If the volume sliders aren’t enough you can also use Amplify to permanently change the volume of a track. Audacity doesn’t show you what filters you’ve applied though, so I always make a note of what I’ve changed in case I need to go back.
      *Final checks*
Finally, I make sure to listen to my ambiences through a couple of different headphones/speakers once they’re finished to check that no sounds stand out in a bad way or are too quiet.
Sorry, that was probably more than you needed and a little navel-gazey. Still, I hope it helps, and good luck with your projects! 💙
