Effroyable !

Beautiful Arias Wonderful.
Orrore!
Es war doch gewaltige! It’s just great with a majestic backdrop enveloping fabulous singers!!!
Is this concert a joke?
Yes.
Verdi, have mercy on them and forgive you
Verdi, abbi pietà di loro e perdonali.
While good orchestra and choir
ORRIBILE!!!. Concerto inascoltabile e da dimenticare subito!!!!!
Weren't there any soprano available???? Sounded like the whole stage was shaking with her voice!
She's married to the conductor... :-)
I was listening to Diana Damrau..and somehow youtube brought me here to enjoy Ms. Lappalainen, thank you UA-cam! lol
I love all this great music and singers. Bravo
Harikulade
Congratulations

After 5 minutes I could finally understand a word she uttered. That was supposed to be Italian, I think.
Where was that soprano found ? She should've been singing "Ecco l'orrido voce" to be self-descriptive. Poor Verdi (and us...).
She's the wife of the conductor 😂
What a gread show to watch and listen to!
E×cellent!
The tenor is o.k. despite of his age.. But the old lady and her colleague are ridiculous. Singer comes from verb "to sing" not "to squawk" :) I remembered the movie Florence Foster Jenkins... I don't know why.....
I understand what you mean.... :D
😂🤣😂🤣
Except you're wrong about the tenor who forces notes and rarly ends up in pitch.
@@bryangl1 I wrote... Despite of his age. You understand me Sir?
@@pavelv.3976 Yes, I understand you. And the Florence Foster Jenkins reference was very appropriate. Haven't thought of her for many years.
Is she bald? What does she look like when that grotesque blonde wig is off? Questions, questions. She's a contender for the title of "Worst Soprano Alive". Maybe even "Worst Soprano Possible".
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful operatic joy
I do not recognize the aria from Balllo as sung here. This "singer" is giving opera a bad name.

This was horrible! The tenor was sympathetic! The baritone tried but failed! BUT The soprano was a mess!!
i agree with you and nobody speaks or can listen maybe ... SHE is Horrible !!! Please share this video ... nobody should have to sing like this !!!
Couldn’t agree more... disgrace...

I'll try to stay polite and just say: "There are better sopranos, a lot"
Update: Lets just say: "The tenor is no Pavarotti!"
Update 2: After Mr Persson's attempt to sing I've heard enough
I can't believe how cruel some ppl can be, most of the ppl interested in opera and classical music are very sensitive and should be more loving in their comments, there are many things that make an artist not just a perfect voice , singing isn't always easy but we can enjoy other aspects of concerts like this, I'm just glad that they are able to put together concerts and let ordinary people get a test of this fantastic world called Opera. Thank you so much to the ppl who participated and made this event possible not matter how long ago it happen. Hope they're able to continue spreading their love for music
This soprano will scare away everyone in the audience who are newcomers to opera.
@@draganvidic2039 you ll be surprised but ppl that aren't experts in opera and have no music training think that opera singers sound like this by nature , just listen to the audience's applause , they don't see all the defects and mistakes
JAdal Matamoros Hope you’re right. But this is disrespectful. Poor orchestra too for example.
@@draganvidic2039 I understand, they are probably used to these artists, I don't think is their first collaboration, they look like very season artist. We are lucky we have many artists nowadays that are great and we can enjoy their art live or video or listen to great ones from the past!

Www
Grotesque!!!
What's worse, the conductor's tuxedo or her singing?????
@PaulWEvans :: The pants❕️ The pants❕️
ALL this criticism is fair However , try and sing something like it , I at 84 lover of opera and music in all its
genre prefer to PRAISE than to downgrade ,it encourage us ALL to do better don,t you think?
Es recorda al gran Luciano Pavarotti
Mamma mia!!
i will bet those soloists had one hell of a time having to combat the huge orchestral/choir component with awful accustics for non-miced singing --You c/should have thought that thru more guys/gal. Still, a few nice moments shown thru anyway. Thanks for the entertainment and all your hard work!
WTF is this?????????? At Athens Concert hall??????? Who’s this old lady that she think she is an opera singer???? OMG! Go home darling!
old lady? Criticize her singing; but age discrimination?
This is so sad. I guess people paid for their tickets, maybe even were looking forward to this concert? Then this soprano appears who cannot sing... And she got paid for this.
imho : Orchestra strepitosa, bravissimi !!! BRAVI
La soprano, imho appena sufficiente. Il tenore e il baritono apprezzabili.
I liit🔊 have any questions about this item
And ... the WINNER FOR SHRIEKING OFF-TUNE SOUNDS ... is MRS OLD BARKING "BLONDE" BOMBSHELL! She must be a grand-daughter of Florence FORSTER-JENKINS. Some of the musicians look quite shocked, rightly so. It has been a gruelling experience indeed! Not a single note is in place: no control, no legato, and poor phrasing ... and singing off-pitch in the FF ... So forget the high-A natural to be sung PPP in Desdemona's "Ave Maria" ... The Andrea Chénier duet is screwed up ...
Mme. Galupe-Borszkh
At @51:30 three ladies yawn behind a conductor. And its Nessun Dorma lol.
One assumes the soprano is some sort of a joke!1

Lappalainen -soprano tragedija...
Catastrofico !
Dear Maria! I'm singwr and operacomposet, granddaughter of Joan Sutherland and Maria Callas, Mozart and Beethoven, can you protectme against Netrebko & Kisdin, please! I wanna be on stage, and they're stealing the lastknickers from my body,Gariffulinais using my voice. Pleasestop Kissin from wigning contracts in my name, he's not my family. Julia Grigorian ❤
Damn these comments are mean af
A retired singer and singing or piano teacher, the number of comments faulting the first singer - a soprano - mystify me. OK, hers is not a lyric quality - I'd classify it as more dramatic. But otherwise....and the person who wrote about her "wabbling" sound - in case you haven't heard, classical singers must sing with vibrato. I also find it interesting that no one seems to have heard the struggle the baritone was having on his high notes. My guess is that age wise he's past his prime.....
That’s not vibrato anymore…
If only you could hear the soprano's ECCO L"ORRIDO CAMPO from VERDI'S UN BALLO IN MASCHERA sung by a great soprano................ It is stunning
Oh yes! Milanov, Callas, Millo in her best days (and Tomowa-Sintow was a superb Amelia too)
This is a killer aria and even some great sopranos can be tripped up by it. Ever hear Maria Caniglia on the complete recording with Gigli? I agree that this video's soprano is way below par.
can.tanti orrendi!!!
I like the tenor. The soprano and baritone are a travesty. I'd love to go to Europe and find a benefactor that would help in assembling a concert like this with better singers

I am wondering, once again, how some who have become professionals are able to be so without having been counseled out of performing. The poor soprano either has no one who she can trust, or will trust no one. That leaves me with the dominant enigma: can she not hear herself or feel her own voice wobble.....hear as she sings or hear herself on recordings? I say this not as a bit of snark, but as a long-term befuddlement.....I am a sort of singer, though NOT a musician and despite my obvious deficits I can, as can many others, "hear" the falseness of the soprano's production. I really wish for her someone who will look after her better and avoid the criticism that is mine. I believe people in their one life deserve better, and yet here she is being applauded which only serves to deny her.....what....careful counsel?
Amen. And the baritone needs the same.
I have enjoyed this middling performance, especially the d r u m.
She doesn't sing the final high A in the ave maria. Listen.
Horrid soprano in Ballo, actually, hilarious!

Horrorrrrrr!
My God, that poor soprano is a disaster. How is it possible.....
LOLOL poor audience!!!!!
Volume???
dead
some students are way better, those soloist leave much, much to be desired.
Lappalainen is a very good Artist with a huge dramatic voice, steady technique and a very reliable, caring and supportive colleague 💐🌹
Really?
Since you talk greek, I would say "Ξεχάρβαλάϊνεν" about the voice, unfortunately. She has to start choosing repertoir carefully!
Now uncross the fingers in the other hand hidden behind your back.
the audience when they heard the soprano's first sentence must have thought "my god, will I have to hear this all night?". Probably it was one bad day for her.
I hope she has improved ang returned to normal.
Nope, that's just how she always sings.
The tenor is fine, the baritone is past his vocal prime. Now, the soprano is an assault to one's senses.
I fully agree. I do not know where they spent the money on, but certainly not on the soloists.
Amazing people words can't explain
Please delete the whole performance....everything is soooo bad....
It's pitifull but the soprano's voice is quite bad here...
With a soprano whose vibrato is so wide, Fred Astaire couled have tap danced to it (not original I'm afraid).; then the tenor struggles painfully as he either under or overshoots the mark . . . this is simply too painful to continue. This does a disservice to good music.
No, No, No. No PLEASE NO.
Concordo completamente!
No Wagner, no Strauss! Where have the Germans gone???
Lord have mercy....
AWFUL .... Horrendous
No
The baritone sounds like an amateur that is past his prime. legato is gone. His high notes are painfull. He pushes like hell and tries to hide that. Probably he sounded better. But thats at least 10 years ago. The tenor thats acceptable. altough the c of allarmi in trovatore was asked a bit much. The soprano..... oooh wel that a joke. Thats the local operetta diva who still sings at 80. HORRIBLE.
Yeah the Allarmi high C was not great, but trying to produce an audible sound through the enormous male chorus was really an insane challenge. Even at a big pro house the max chorus for Di quella pira would be 20 well-trained voices, probably fewer.
EL ARIA PRIMERO NO ES PARA LA VOZ DE LA SOPRANO
51:30
wot!!!!!!! no patricia janeckova? check her out on you tube.
17:42-18:00 No. Bye bye 👋
Lappalainen should retire or teach.
Assuming she was far better once upon a time.
