i read the coal tar report from your website from the 1980 i would have to say much of it was the begging of understanding coal tar sealing, today the sealcoating with refined coal tar and proper application will out perform rejuvenators. I my self used rejuvenateder for years before making the switch to coal tar.
Peter, The FAA switched years ago to rejuvenator over seal coats. I have yet to meet anyone who has used a True Rejuvenator that will go back to seal coating. There is over 35 years of testing by the FAA and Army on the proven benefits of asphalt rejuvenators and also the testing and performance of seal coats over the years have shown that its a paint and will not extend the asphalt life. Ask any property Manager what they think of a seal coat, they will say its just black paint. Shopping Center developers that I have talked with say they would rather not seal coat, due to the little return on extending the asphalt life.

Robert Swift if you would understand that any one can paint the asphalt black. This product is a stain Black in color. Yet, with the FAA you won’t be paid if they test the asphalt before and after treatment and find that the treated asphalt is not 4 years younger. Chemically this product in Jack’s four years of life and also seals the surface unlike any other coating on the market. You should learn more about something before you criticize it. But that’s ok, most people and contractors out there you seal coats and still have to spend millions to put new asphalt down. Anyone can paint the asphalt black but for new government standards the question is what did you do to it ? We offer four or five year performance warranty the mature one appeal flake or do you laminate it will not cause the pavement to crack in it cost about the same as a normal seal coat.

C, Yes we used 2 - 9 hp walk behind blowers to remove all sand, rock and dirt off the lot. I do not film the cleaning because it’s standard. I let my references speak to how each job turns out and on the repeat customers that I am blessed to have after 4 years.
What about all the cracks that weren't filled prior to the coating?

Does the machine vacuum debris just before applying the coat? Or is that done earlier?
+Geo T The machine doesn't vacuum debris. Instead, your crew blows the debris off prior to sealcoating.
Crew blows off the surface, unlike a seal coat which you need everything off the surface with this product you don't have to clean the surface as much. It's comparing a stain versus a paint.
how do you get away with the Crack seal and old striping still coming through the seal a lot of customers are expecting a smooth surface
gary goezinya - A seal coat will fill in the cracks and areas on the surface and make the asphalt smooth. For over 40 years of testing by the FAA and the Army Corps of Engineers and most of my clients will tell you that the asphalt will dry out because of the sun rays penetrate an inch into the asphalt. The rejuvenator has been shown to be more like a stain by putting the oils back in and does not change the texture of the pavement but the rejuvenator becomes part of the asphalt. I've had many clients go by jobs that are four and six years old and they have commented that it looks like new asphalt. Being a stain the product penetrates and by replacing oil's that the sun removes naturally overtime. Unlike a seal coat we offer 4 or 5 year performance warrantee that the material will not crack peel or delaminate off the surface a seal coat could never do this. A seal coat is more like paint and gives you a false security of protection.

It's a one pass spray system. Computed controlled to prevent turning the asphalt to mush. The same material is applied to FAA approved projects (airports) and they will take a physical core before and 30 days after treatment. As a contractor I will not be paid unless a chemical engineer says that the asphalt that was treated is no longer the same as before it's know 4 years younger. If I do not hear this I will not be paid and will then go through the process of being sued by the federal government for not meeting spec.
The last time I checked no other product has this standard to meet. It cost about the same as other coatings and I have developers / owners of shopping centers that do not like using coatings like seal coats or slurry seals because how they ware off the surface and cause the asphalt to crack even more. These owners have gone by 6 year old jobs to look at how the product looks at the entrance of a shopping center, I have even had calls asking why the product looks so black and if it was really 6 years old .... Being like a stain and that you do not want to coat the asphalt Renovators have over 40 years of proven use and are now being applied to asphalt roadways to extend the asphalt age and help prevent the surface from cracking. No it’s a two coat seal. One coat does not do enough
I’ve been doing this for 7 years. In Minnesota it’s a two coat process.
What is the name of the product?
WD-2000 = Coal Tar Asphalt Rejuvenator and we know offer two other rejuvenators, AR-16 is a petroleum based rejuvenator and a True Green (Plant Based) asphalt Rejuvenator = AR-19, used widely by cities and state DOT for roadways due to it can be driven on in under 2 hours and painted lines will not need to be repainted ! Is this a spray or squeegee application?
Justin Gunden ... It looks like a spray and brush application. However, unless that machine is really laying it on thick, it appears to just be "painting" the surface. First, it doesn't looks very thick. Second, the wide brush at the rear is barely touching the asphalt. Just my observation and opinion.

The product runs over the top and into the asphalt surface. The paint will not allow the lite oils to penetrate into the asphalt. If you fine someone at Sherwin Williams that knows there stuff, they will explain that most paints have a filler added, like clay to give there paint a thicker viscosity and help with waring off the surface sooner. Anyway the painted lines are repainted back when we are done and the asphalt stays black for up to 6 years !
