Yes. They have better drag systems. The 500 is the size of the MXL. The 600 is like the size of an LX. If you are looking for an MXL size reel, check out the Release SG Lever Drag. 30+ lbs of drag, made in USA, lifetime warranty. Here is the link: jandh.com/release-sg-lever-drag-reels.html

taRpon fishRman The saltist is going to be more versatile. You don't want to use a spinning reel?

Would these reels be better than avet? I have a mxl for cast bait shark fishing but the only thing I don't like is the drag and if you put to much it crunches the bearing so would the accurate be better in that aspect

This reel or a diawa saltist ld two speed or single speed for tarpon and kingfish from a pier, I'd be filling it with 40 lb mono, which one

No most of the time I'm using a trolley rig, what spinning reel were you thinking? Have you herd any problems with the saltist single speed reverse bearing, I want a reel that will have for a while. If Ido get the saltist what rod should I get with it, are there any rods that would work with cork grips( I love cork grips) thank you

taRpon fishRman Take a look at a Maxel OSL10. It will be a better reel fro the type of fishing you are doing. Awesome anti-reverse backup. Tons of power. www.jandh.com/maxel-ocean-max-lever-dual-drag-single-speed-jigging-reels.html
