Watching these videos is like going through a museum. It’s all so fascinating…
have you watched then back in the day or is it your first time?
Your poke-pyro has evolved to suprise phlogistinator pyro

Underrated 6 year old comment
"Let's not even talk about the Phlog."
HE KNEW BEFORE IT HAPPENED
XDDDDDDD
it's not like the Phlog wasn't irritating for quite a few years...
For a flamethrower with no airblasts, it causes quite a few flame wars.
Degreaser Pyros can burn in hell.
gibus pyro as top scorer. You know some of those blu guys were raging about it.
No one has left a single reply within the 10 years this comment been up.
I will now leave this for passer by a to read.
Boobs
I forgot how easy it was to pub stomp in 2012, back when there were a lot of new players.
"Why you twitchin' so much?"
2012 Ster predicts the future of TF2 again.

I felt i should mention that they never actually Buffed the flamethrowers damage. They nerfed it by 20% and then added 10% two times, breaking even.
No it doesn't, because it's compound. The damage would of been different when it was nerfed, and so the 10% wouldn't be of the original number, but of the new nerfed number. It isn't even.
the guy on the cliff at 8:59 just blew himself up trying to shoot over the cliff lmao
I think he got more kills using mouse 2 than mouse 1! He has made history in the pyro community!
Now we need a non knight demoman get more kills with m1 than m2.
Boltscrap that's me with the loch n load (when i choose the chargin' targe for damage resistance and mobility)
good to know that star was a swaggin man even 3 years ago
Good to know that people knew 3 years ago that star was a swagging man even 6 years ago.
@@0ffspringfan good to know that 3 years ago people knew that it was good to know that people knew that star was a swagging man even 9 years ago
Well, I never thought I would see a single pyro take out a team twice over and still walk away like it was an everyday event.
God I miss these lobbies so much! This was peak casual tf2 by far. Where you could just air blast the whole team off of a cliff and just laugh and have a good time. I wonder if the casual lobbies are ever gonna feel like this again.
wait, pyro has a secondary?
I don't think he does no.
Of course he fucking does. Have ever played this game.
wait,. pyro is a class?
Alan Kennedy I main spyro in highlander
Alan Kennedy I'm not joking but just picture me laughing.
1:52 should of been using those sticky shoes
Fluid Oregon It was!
should have
4:23 I cannot get over that Spy's superfluous jump. xD
I BELIVE I CAN FLYYYY
the__wolf XD
Its like being a stock spy with gibus- nobody expects you to trickstab
Anyone else catch the plane pun in the description?
nah man, it just flew right past me
Went way over my head, if I'm honest.
Nah, it soared over before I could locate it.
I gues i zoomed right past it
nop, my computer was jet-lagging
I remember watching this in a cold Friday evening at home, haizzz things have changed haven't it
Hm...You know, I'm going to try it out. Equip the gibus as pyro and run at people so they think "Hey, a F2P. This will be an easy kill" And then they get airblasted all around and fall into a cliff and rage. Will be even funnier if they see a gibus on the head of the person that just dominated them :D
I actually really like playing stock pyro
and now, I wait for the hate comments to come rolling in
Eh, it's not that bad. I hate the soldier default and I got stormed on another guy's video for not liking it...they starting yelling at me because I like gunboats. Who the fuck gets that mad over something like that?
***** Tryhards and fps veterans.
Bas van de Kleut They need to fucking calm down all I was saying is I preferred gunboats
*****
I agree
This channel has the most tf2-related favorites on my account for a reason.
for some reason 1/3 of tf2 pros are non-serious players that just plays for fun and jokes and other nonsense
My god, Star, you're like some kind of a wonderful riot. Hilarious mindgames while playing stock and just this side of comically trolling the entire BLU team. Good show.
i love W-M1 pyros. other than a inexperienced spy, they are the easiest people to kill. they just walk to greet your bullets and rockets.
they do pwn in koth maps (on pub servers) though
He means that, eventually, while designing for a specific thing, such as Red in MtG, or Pyro in TF2, the only unexplored territory is in covering that thing's weaknesses. So, you get things like the Degreaser, eliminating the need to choose between airblasting and shotgunning, and things like Stranglehold. Though, it tends to make more sense in MTG, since it's entirely within each color's purview to spite the colors it is opposite of.
Hilariously my contract today was basically this, reflect kills and throw people off of cliffs.
I had slightly less success than STAR_, but I pulled through.
Its such an awesome feeling when your team is struggling to push pack and the you switch to pyro, light everything on fire run away and then have a heavy medic team come in and clean house [anyone get that pyro hat reference?]
I dont like to use the Shotgun W/ Degreaser, because then i feel like my only weapon is my shotgun. And i am just a shotgun class that can sometimes airblast stuff.
8:50
Vintage hat and strange weapon for a bunch of scrap weapons?
daumn, he knows how to trade
"Just Regular plane old pyro" I get it cause he gets a lot of cliff kills :P
Congrats on 100,000 subs star :D
I miss ster tf2
Me too bro
The combo you suggested only works in certain circumstances at close range. Also, once you've hit a good target once, they're going to move or dance out of the way if they're at long-medium range.
Stock flamethrower is actually pretty great.
So lets go over a few examples.
The enemy team is pushing and there are multiple targets, you won't be able to puff sting all of them, meaning that the flamethrower is better than the degreaser, it has better damage and better afterburn, so if you kill their medic they all rush for the medkits before burning to death. Do you REALLY need to puff and sting? If you are ambushing someone at close range as the pyro, they are fucking dead unless they get a lucky crit, just holding them in a blaze or doing some fancy weapon switching isn't going to change that fact. 'But why not just use the backburner or phlog?' air blasting is fucking great, and it just costs 25 ammo with the flamethrower. The switch speed isn't THAT bad when switching between shotgun flamethrower, so I don't see the real need to give up damage for faster switching. Only issue I run into using standard flamethrower is phlog pyros. I am used to the old logic of, 'they are running into my flames and their flames can't reach me, as I am moving backwards and we both have flamethrowers out, I will win' not with phlog and its bullshit hitboxes. Fuck the phlog, I refuse to use it.
Using anything but a shotgun means you are a scrub. Haven't tried using the quick switch minicrit airborn targets shotgun yet. But still, six shots baby. Why the hell are you in an open area across from the enemy team anyways? You are a pyro, ambush them in cramped areas or run away into cramped areas.
Melee weapon choises are the neon sign, jack, or homewrecker. Why the hell are you using melee when you have the greatest close range primary besides the minigun?
This. This was the end. This was when everything changed. I have searched and this video marks the turning point in young Star_'s commentary.
love doing nothing but air blasting the enemy team of cliff edges, you'll be surprised how many kills i get
Got to love the taunt kill at the end.
About 2 months into tf2, i traded my entire backpack of around 30 weps for around 3. I had no idea the crafting system existed then.
wha?
wha?
mechaplatypus 3 ref, keys scrap or weapons?
Don't forget the pyros that do not only reflect rockets and pipes, but also arrows and even goddamit' flying guillotines.
Muselk passed the great Star. Sad times we live in.
Muselk's not a bad guy.... It's sad to see our shooting star has burned up, but don't hold it against Muselk, he makes good content.
Floris Bordewijk Ik but Star will always be the best Tf2 UA-camr to me. His commentaries are golden.
Scoutfingers cheers to that mate
You are one lucky bastard Star. Never fails, when I play pyro, EVERYONE is looking directly at me. I cannot possibly sneak up on anyone, because somehow they sense my presence above all others.
Strange REserve Shooter(7 ref),Pain Train,Pyrovision Vintage=7.17ref/64 scrap+1 weap
traded to:
5 unique weaps. Total of 2 scrap+1 weap/ 0.25 Ref.
*cringe*
Also, taunting at the end + allied Solly's Buff Banner at the exact time=THE STOCK PHLOG LOL.
That was some badass airblasting off the cliff I must say
I think the problem Star_ has with balance issues is that he's so good at the game that everything becomes easy, so normal weapons seem OP :L Like, he thinks that the market gardener is OP, and that weapon is insanely difficult to use :L
agreed, I barely ever get a market garden kill.
Well, the downside is pretty negligible.
It's really not that hard IF you know how to rocket jump and air strafe.
4:59 STAR just humiliated the Pyro by making him think that he was dominated by a f2p.
One of your best episodes.
as soon as your made a heavy fly off a cliff the medic charged ya.
Medic: I deem you worthy of KRITZ gibus pyro!
The cool thing about the last few minutes of this video?
1. Uses the fire axe, crits a demo to death. (Axtinguisher)
2. Uses the shotgun, kills a pyro in the air. (Reserve Shooter)
3. Taunts with the flamethrower, and gets mini crits from the buff banner. (Phlogistinator)
Yes. You're simply unable to comprehend the level of swagger brought by the Gibus.
That's not what he was implying. He's saying that Star is pretending to be a noob that only used W+M1, to trick people into thinking he won't airblast. He said this in the beginning of the video.
As usual, Star delivers a great day for me. There is however one little contrivance in particular I wish to address: you made me loose my shiz with Thunder Hawk! XD
If you're accurate, you can land an additional flare or two by predicting their movements or airblasting them & quick-switching with Degreaser. And I think the crits for landing those follow-up flares are well worth it.
My favorite targets are Scouts who run in one direction and Heavies who do nothing but stand and shoot.
The Flare Gun isn't for very long range. It's kinda like the Axtinguisher. It just does less damage and has a longer range. Flares are great finishers in combos IMO.
I want your enemies. Mine consist of scouts who teleport right behind your back, snipers who secretly implant a bullet magnet in my head before the round begins, and engineers with the instant building upgrade from MvM
I can totally see where you're coming from. I guess we could say that the Pyro's "Easy to learn, hard to master"?
Why in 2012 people seemed like they've never played a video game before
Just search for a custom TF2 HUD, Star uses Brosel Hud, and it's in the description/his channel description. Or just search for one and you'll probably find one you'll like. Hope this helped.
its the "set everyone on fire" part that counts. Even so, that extra half meter can be influential.
He did a whole lot better than his Phlogistinator adventure. He seemed calmer too.
What do you call a guy with a seagull on his head?
Cliff.
You sir, are going off the cliff.
the power of the gibus was so strong that even the ghastlierest trade only gibus painted pink and nametagged and all still makes people think you're a noob, despite needing like 10 ref worth of stuff and offline trading to create it. gibus is mighty.
The scorch shots main purpose though is the "light everything on fire".
hey star, nowadays whenever you play tf2 do you record it? becuase i found this epic combo of a pyro and scout just kicking ass on harvest. and the character icon when you hit tab was that odd perverted one. xD i was wondering if maybe right now its like... uploading or rendering? IDK but i just got extremely paranoid... Lol...
My favorite way to play Pyro.
"Everyone goes off the cliff!"
Watching people getting airblasted off of the cliff never gets old. XD
I am so inspired by this guy as a tf2 player I always use his load outs :D
Actually, the degreaser wrecks shit when combined with the shotty. Lighting them on fire, air blasting them, then using the quicker switch to shot them with a shotgun can do some serious damage. Plus, the shotgun helps against other (meta game ) pyros, because the flare gun is useless unless they're far away, or already on fire, and the reserve shooter is only better if you are airborne, and you can stay out of air blast range and still do decent sustained damage, which the RS can't do.
What I like to do also is to stand very far away from a soldier, and wait as he fires his rockets and then strafe to dodge 'em lol :D
How to surprise people on pubs:
>Be extremely good Pyro
>Wear Gibus
>Watch in awe as people around you say WHAT THE FUCK THAT F2P IS AMAZING in chat and voice
>Be disappointed because they won't actually say that
>But still, they'll be caught off guard
LOL all the people going off the cliff..lost my shit at 2:04
Prolly because the Pyro has many abilities that require a steeper learning curve. Anyone can W+M1, but its harder to consistently reflect projectiles, even harder to reflect headshot an arrow. But, it is the best at mass hysteria with sweeping flames, and as you mentioned, annoying the hell out of ubers.
6:32 That medic actually jumped off the cliff by himself lol.
Oh, that makes sense. I should've noticed the plane pictures in the video and realised the description was right. Haha, or well. Thanks.
5:30 "he would've crit me with that..." market gardener LOL
And when the circumstances are good and I'm at close range, I execute that combo. Usually when I hit them with the flare, they're at low enough health for them to get killed by either the crit flare itself or the afterburn.
Like you said, long range isn't where the Flare Gun shines.
I agree with your stance on pyro balancing, but technically they didn't buff the damage of the flamethrower, they just undid a nerf.
Oh, and what's your opinion on the pomson nerf? I personally think it's great.
I can't be the only one who was screaming "RELOAD THE FING SHOTGUN" in my head
That's the thing about the Gibus. Everyone has one. Which means wearing one is in no way an indicator of skill anymore. I see myself as almost competant, and I have a bunch of other hats I could be wearing, and even I wear a Gibus sometimes. Because it's kind of dapper, in a Gibus sort of way.
In my opinion, Family Business. Heavy is good for new players because the high health and slowness of the Heavy allows the practice of shotgun aim. Plus, the FB has more ammo in a clip and less damage so it encourages more shots to be landed.
6:01
Star is hit by random fire, even though there isn't a pyro nearby
The sentry and dispenser are sapped even though there is no Spy nearby.
Engie is on fire even though there is no Pyro nearby.
Dispenser randomly disappears.
Everything explodes.
Screw logic.
Being good as Pyro's harder than you'd think. Checking for spies, reflecting rockets, clearing sticky traps, reflecting arrows, pushing people off cliffs, getting Medics to waste ubers, etc. It takes quite a bit of skill for Pyro to not be complete cannon fodder. I can see how it's a fairly accessible class, but saying it's just for new players isn't giving the guy enough credit.
star was court-marshaled for not reloading his shotgun...
When he says "I know he will crit me." I hate that feeling, and it's always I am in a fight and it always seems to be the first shot they fire at me.IT"S ALWAYS the first shot at me.
"Is that the same guy? Are these all his burning dead bodies he walked at?" Ladies and gentlemen I give you the broken m1 pyro!
Ive never known that pyro is this powerful i play every other class than pyro. well looks like i got to give pyro a chance
M2 is a very useful thing lol, you can be useful to the team by reflecting projectiles and protecting the sentry/medic/general teamates etc.
I don't think he realized that every time he returns to this video to be a "troll", he just adds more views for Star.
2:04 THAT PLANE HIT THE SOLDIER LOL
Saying those require luck to hit with doesn't matter much in TF2. It's the same mentality with the Cuntsman, wherein as long as you aim vaguely near your Target, you're basically always going to headshot your Target.
Maybe Star just has an innate noob sixth sense. 4 goddamn people on the cart facing the same way and not even spychecking around the cart has to be a birthday party of 10 year olds.
3:55 -- epic T-Hawk moment.
I can't help but think of the Star Alliance in airports now.
it's a shame tf2 is effectively dead by 2023, I guess we should enjoy the game while it lasts
Star's research shows that W+M1 Pyro is as effective as a Pyro using all of its weapons
if only more people played pyro like star by not only rushing the enemy, but also helping the team by keeping watch for spies.
I know. That's what I mean. It's fun to mix it up with the other weapons and come up with new ways to win.
I hate how people think that 'W+M1 is a HORRIBLE tactic!' but, at 8:00 that Pyro killed like, 5 people JUST by walking at them. Sure, it isn't THE BEST tactic but it works!
7:20 he's not a spy... he's a dead spy!
I think a soldier with an activated buff banner walked by.
That pyro was a master of W+M1
