    I absolutely love that these sets are 1 per year. I finally met my Beta goal for foils (Alchemy “Five” no mixes, Unique sites, dual sites, Grim Reaper, and Crusade) other than ji - had over a year’s time. I was able to pull 2/12 unique foil sites out of AL and have a year to collect the other 10. I’m glad my collection goal list is shorter this time. Unique sites 2/12, the three big relics 0/3, and dual knights 6/6 in foil. … Great to hear some long content from you two again.

      Yeah, I think for players, as long as the meta stays as fresh as it has with just Beta, it is great to really dive in and explore the set.
      I love the pace both as a player, and as a collector, Beta was an absolute beast of a set to collect with the size.
      Arthurian Legends has been slightly different due to the small size, but we are still missing some odd 17-18 cards to complete the set.
      We are happy that you enjoyed the livestream, we were very tired, but hopefully still made some sense. 😆
      Thanks for watching and we would love feedback on the gameplay video coming up tomorrow, if you have the time! 🙏🏻

    CardMarket getting into Sorcery would be a massive push for the game in Europe. Fingers crossed !

      Hi Carles,
      I always love seeing your name pop up in the comment section.
      We completely agree, but I think the Sorcery had have been pushing for this and all of us EU players as well, so hopefully Cardmarket will decide to listen. 🤞🏻
      Thanks for watching! ❤️

    the beta precons were a perfect product for me!!!!!
    The increase in cards in my opinion is not recommended for two reasons.
    The first, from a new player point of view, it is much easier to add cards to a deck than to clean up by replacing cards.
    I started beta with the precons and a box and the experience as a new player who has some extra cards and decks to complete was beautiful.
    The second reason is economic. The beta precons were super cost efficient and for a product designed to try a new game (or try a new set) I found it very smart.
    If they increase the number of cards they must also increase the cost (I imagine that in any case the cost of the precons regardless of the number of cards will have increased).
    From a thematic point of view, I am more of the idea of keeping mono element, the beta ones did a good job of establishing the elemental identity. It could be a nice idea though to have a very light splash of another element to support the main one, even on a didactic level for new players it can show how paying attention to the treshold is important. That said having common sub-themes between decks can be interesting so that one can take into account the demons of the fire precon and combine them with those of another element.

      I fully agree that the Beta precons was a great and very affordable product with a lot of gameplay value for a great price. I think that you are making some great points, if the Sorcery team decided to add more cards, the price point would probably move, and for a new player getting in at a cheap price makes a big difference, since new players want to try out the game without too much of an investment, which makes perfect sense.
      The feedback has overwhelmingly been that most would prefer to keep the precons as mono element decks, so it will be interesting to see if that it what they decide to go with. Thank you so much for leaving such an in depth comment and checking out the video! ❤️

      @@CardboardGuide to be honest, they should do what they think is right regardless of what the community thinks. Of course listen to the community but with judgment. They are doing a great job and they should continue on their path. I hope the system of one set per year continues like this, it is very healthy in this modern age of franzynes. Obviously it works better with a card pool like Beta instead of AL :)

      Yeah, I think it is fair to say that Beta has been available for a good year-ish now and even though the European distribution never was optimal, I would prefer no reprints of Beta and then rather a Revised set down the line picking up needed cards from multiple sets with new art.
      Thanks for watching the livestream. 😉

    A new main set every 6 months would be ideal in order to not lose momentum. An alternative would be a main set each year and then an expansion set of the same theme/realm six months after. The DragonLord mini set is really cool and Sorcery was in need of more Dragons, yet 13 cards isn't enough to drum up the attention a newer game needs and the AL release was only about six weeks ago.

      I think you make a really good point when it comes to player retention and keeping people engaged at the LGS level.
      Personally, I love the slower release pace. It feels like there is plenty of time to dive into the cards, build decks, and also collect the set.
      An advantage is also that you check out for life stuff for a two-three months without being out of the loop when you return.
      However, I do think having a set release every 9 months would be ideal for me, it would still leave plenty of time to get into the set, but feels like less of a wait.
      Thank you for checking the video and leaving a comment. 🙏🏻❤️

      @@CardboardGuide 9 Months could work nicely too and if they sprinkled alternate editions of certain cards along the way and adding a mini set here or there it would maintain the enthusiasm.

    • @CardboardGuide
      @CardboardGuide  18 днів тому +1

      @williamjubi I think that going down to 9 months would be a nice sweet spot for release cadence.
      I think I would prefer not having too many alternate versions, especially if the Dust Promos will continue to be alt art cards. But the occasional mini-set when it makes sense and the right opportunities arise sounds great to me. 😉

    • @williamjubi
      @williamjubi 18 днів тому +1

      @@CardboardGuide I agree with you about relying on the dust promos for the alt art cards and not having too many variations. In my opinion, Magic The Gathering creates far too many alternate editions, in addition to over-saturating their market with frequent set releases.

    • @CardboardGuide
      @CardboardGuide  18 днів тому +1

      @ Yeah, I think it can be overdone, so far the balance has been really great with Sorcery.
      For sure, Elesh Norn had like 15 variants of the same card in Phyrexia All Will Be One, a bit much. 😆

    A 3rd Beta print would be bad. Maybe just the precons if there is a demand. Do not listen to the game-piece army, they crash games.

      I think we need an Unlimited-Set. Without Foils..so that the old Cards hold value

    • @CardboardGuide
      @CardboardGuide  19 днів тому +2

      I agree, the precons are needed as they are the main way to get news players into the game and the cards in there already had very little value so to being in both boxes and precons.
      I also agree that if we are getting any reprint it should be in the form of a Revised/Unlimited set with needed cards from the first 4-5 sets and preferably with new art.
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, we appreciate it!

    Not a fan of a third beta reprint. I doubt they would need to consider a reprint if they had more than one set a year and didnt make AL 24 packs in a box...

    • @CardboardGuide
      @CardboardGuide  17 днів тому

      I think that even though they made more sets, and the hand painted art at least in part dictates some of the pace, Beta functions sort of as a core product that many people need to play the game. However, I am not loving the third reprint and I really hope they are being very specific and targeted with where it lands, and careful with the size, on the other hand the Erik's Curiosa team has a lot more information available and I trust that they are making the right choice for the game long term.
      Thanks for checking out the video!

    One major set per year is fine. But there really needs to be a supplemental product like the original precons that is always available. How are new players supposed to get into the game if you have just a set like AL available to buy?
    With regard to the rules, I always found the kitchen table argument really weak. Having tight rules makes the game better for everyone, casual and competitive players alike.

    • @CardboardGuide
      @CardboardGuide  17 днів тому +1

      I absolutely agree, the Beta precons need to be readily available for new players to get into the game, and when there is a new set of precons with the big release next year, that should also be readily available in local game stores. I think having rules that are easily comprehendible and consistent is good for everyone and will also make the game easier for new people to get into, but at the kitchen table with friends it is easy enough to find a solution, but with strangers at a LGS it is nice not having to debate too much about the rule
