Great video and good timing for me. I plan to rebuild the gearbox from my 1978 Mini 1000 this spring so your tips on spotting important wear signs is very useful. I look forward to the next instalment.
Excellent presentation style and a good Camera position. Looking forward to this series as gearbox rebuild is the one job I have yet to tackle on a Mini.
Video looks great and will help so many people. This takes me back all those years ago when you taught me. It's knowing what to look at which is the main thing. Everyone give it a go!
Nice and calm presentation. I particulary appreciated the smal details of information. Such as with the gasket wich is not always supposed to be there. And also the very obvious one, to look out for those bolt lengths. That maybe not always is that obvious when you are standing there yourself in the garage at late night. Identification of the different parts are also very usefull information.
Great video, many thanks. Looking forward to see how you get on with the mainshaft nut.. Always worries me, some I can do, some I have to get a friendly gearbox buider to shift.
Cant ask for a better video and perfect timing, started dismantling a DAM5626 today, first A+ gearbox I saw whit studs instead of bolts on the dif cover and gaskets that seams factory, but also red rtv in one off the side covers, whit mismatch bolts, and a stud instead of the countersunk screw.
Hello AC and great channel. My gearbox is a 190 box beneath my 1071 build. I installed a MS cross pin diff. So my question is I have a slight bind when rotating the output flanges. I does pass the binding point by hand but it still worries me. Some have said not worry as it will loosen up when put into service. Also I fitted HS outputs with MSpares output flange output covers. Your thoughts would be most appreciated . Thanks Scott

Two options, 4 foot breaker bar or a hi torque impact wrench
Great series, looking forward for the next episodes! 👍

My 5626 had loads of clear RTV on the end covers

The usual cause of a bind is oversized baulk ring dragging, did you check to see if it’s doing it without the diff fitted?
Great video, when can we have the next instalment?
Part 2 is in the can but further parts will be spread out across the year.
@@ACDodd Thanks AC.
