Thanks for the video, I just picked up this exact gun. After 2 $50 dollar gift cards, I paid $9.25 for the rifle. They had it on clearance for $100. Haven’t shot it yet but will be doing a video soon.
I have been thinking about getting a muzzle loader. This is one of the first videos that popped up when I searched the buckstalker on YT. So, 2 years later, still fun?
@@Lowballinoutdoorz I do have a queston. I am new to in line muzzle loaders. Does that breech plug remove for access straight through the barrel? Like for cleaning? Thank you.
honestly not a bad group for a muzzle loader at 50 yards with iron sights, saw one at my local walmart for 198$ thinking of picking it up, as long as the wife doesnt kill me.
I have purchased this rigle a while ago all i can say its worth the money and will stay in the family for a long time also bought a Kentucky long rifle as well
I usually shoot all day before cleaning (10 to 15 shots) use some ball lube get a breech plug wrench. With iron sights that was a damn good group it will get better with practice and break in. Definitely clean good. I like white hot Pellets (very clean) with 245 grain power belt bullet AWSOME combination.
Hahahaha I enjoyed the video, your a funny dude. I just ordered a cva optima, in new to it as well. That first shot is my biggest fear if a big buck was standing out there. It would make a great anchor if that happend
Hahaha thanks!! Yea if that would have happened in the woods I probly would have wrapped that rifle around a tree haha.. iv learned a lot since I made that video and it's been fun!! Your gonna have a blast with ur cva!! Keep me posted on how ya like it!!
For nipples and screw out breech plugs I use Hornady One Shot Muzzleloader Multi-Lube and Protectant. It doesn't catch fire or smoke upon ignition and will allow your breech plug or nipple cone to be much more easily unscrewed, over all other products. I use it on all my 36 Muzzleloaders. Traditional and Inline.
Good cheap scope, Sun Optics 2.5x20mm Fixed. Good scope, with 5" eye relief. Great for dense woods hunting too. 3x starting power is too much in many cases, but 2.5x on this scope even though its only .5 X different from a 3x is quit a bit better in low light close shots. 1x or 2x is more ideal, and many scope makers want to push these 3-9x40mm scopes that are just in many cases way too much power starting at 3x. Depends on where you hunt. If you hunt dense stuff, mostly in the woods with shots under 100 yrds in most cases, then get a lower power scope. Sun Optics is made in same facilities in China as Vortex China made scopes and several other performing brands, like PRIMARY ARMS. Just my 2 cents. Optics planet has the 2.5x20mm Sun Optics scope for like 86$ at this time. If you want more magnifications, Id look at a 2-7x or 2-10X range scopes. Burris, Vortex, Sig Sauer. Im telling you though, the 2.5X20m scope is pretty good. Its meant for shotgun recoil, so naturally it works good on a M-loader, and its glass etched reticle, which is a great feature. Also they lifetime warranty. Good luck.
I love that gun. However the first time I took it hunting the plastic front sight fell off. The base was stripped out. Tru glo makes the identical sight set (front and rear) made out of steel and was a breeze to replace them.
i have the same gun . i shoot 100 grain black horn powder and a 295 grain power belt hollow point . i have a 3x9x40 nikon buckmaster on it and it shoots great .it will got the job done on white tail deer....
Called a breech plug and don't use bore butter on it. Although it would be better than nothing, buy some breech plug anti-seize and save yourself some grief later on.
The manual says you can load a patched round ball but it doesn't give you a powder charge for it I know the twist rate is a bit fast but I'm only looking to shoot out maybe fifty yards
You mentioned a scope I recommend the truglo scope with with bullet drop reticle With the standard cva scope mount I have this scope on my cva hunter in .243 it's not the clearest glass ever made but it's a good cheap scope that works
Awesome review. I've used a cva wolf for years and killed probably 50 deer with it Round the same price range. Don't need a thousand dollar gun to kill a deer. Still kill deer with a homemade recurve from the ground 😂
Sweeet thanks Chris!! Man recurve bows are super cool. I work with a guy that makes bows, super awesome! Then to bag a deer with a bow ya made priceless
I'm confused on what happened on the first failed attempt? The cap fired but did not ignite the main powder charge? You didn't explain. I've shot ML's a bunch in the past.
6 minutes of smiling and enthusiasm. I picked up my first muzzleloader today. A Buckstalker. I got mine for 50 bucks. Love the smiles.

Name brand manufacturers often make 2.5-10x scopes and on 2.5x they give a very wide field of view.

Put anti seize on the bore plug threads and smear a light coat of bore butter on the sides of your projectile.
