I just bought a very lightly used brooks B17 on ebay, it arrives tomorrow. I plan on using some Bicks 4 first and then following that up with some Bicks Heavy Duty Leather Preservative, and then hitting it with a blow dryer for about a minute to allow the Bicks HD LP to penetrate the leather better.
@@robreynolds721 I replaced it with B17 Standard after 2-3k kilometers))). My sit bones were exactly on metal rivets on narrow version. With B17 S I don't have any issues, just finished 600 km trip. PS. Sorry for mistakes, my English is not good. 😊
Why didn’t you consider the brooks professional saddle which would have also been narrow. Also not sure if you’ve tried the swift but I’m curious how it compares.
@@motomoto898 reviewed swift titanium too, when owned it, loved it, more sporty and for more aggressive riding positions, when b17 narrow is still wider
It will never tear, super strong and thick leather, but it will deform (stretch inward and downward) slightly faster than the non-cut-out version. You can of course then adjust the tension screw at the front to compensate. Should last for a long time regardless.
Great unboxing. My question for you, sir, is, do you still have to wear padded cycling shorts with your brooks saddles? I absolutely HATE padded cycling shorts 😒 I've always used neatsfoot oil on my lineman boots, and I'm planning on continuing to do so on a Brooks saddle. Those boots have always lasted 10+ years, so I figure, don't fix what ain't broke. That 10+ years, of course, includes getting wet in the rain, even slogging through mud puddles. 🤷 And, yes, that is a beautiful saddle. 🥰 And there it is! 😃 toward the end, you said you don't use padded cycling shorts! HURRAAAY! YES! 🥰 sold
I haven’t worn a padded shorts for years now. So no you don’t need to wear a padded one. Although wearing one is even more comfortable than on a traditional saddle.
I have always wanted one; I love the modular design and modern materials used. However, the $350+ retail price on titanium versions when ordered from the US has prevented me from acquiring one.
I need the narrow, thanks for your post

Thank you for your work. I just bought my first brooks. Hope it will be comfortable and last a long time.
How have you liked it thus far?

@@notYaroslav No worries, thanks for the response! What is your sit bone width if you don’t mind me asking? I am going to order one of them tonight.
@@robreynolds721 sorry, idk. I measured it with cardboard, but forgot.
2:38…there are 2 metal black holes in the back of the saddle…does anyone know what it is use for?
Here ya go: amzn.to/3A4vsVt You are welcome ;-)
great video. its informative and useful.

Yeah sorry I see you comment on the swift later in the video..

@@TheGizmoGarage do you mean the b17 narrow is still wider than the team professional?
Is there any chance that the carved model will tear? I'm going to buy a b17 and I'm scared that the leather will tear when sitting.

@@TheGizmoGarage That is such great news. Brooks B17 Narrow for me 😃 And end the torture of wearing padded cycling shorts 👍👌
Why not the brooks proofide ?
I do leatherworking, profide works but many other conditioners also works...
😀 Nice!
what does the nut at the tip of the saddle do?!
You can turn it to stretch the saddle when it starts to sag after a while
Gilles Bertoud saddles are superior imo.

Poor Saddle :(
It's doing fine... Ultra comfortable
