Does he have any special talents? Benóný and Eldlilja asked all the hard-hitting questions on everyone's minds.

What a heart warming interview! This has to be one of the most down to earth leaders I have ever seen, and makes me appreciate Iceland even more. I have never been there before, but planning to visit sometime early next year. Hopefully, my Icelandic will be much better by that time too. Awesome work, as always, the Reykjavík Grapevine! Lots of love, from Kenya, Africa 🇰🇪
300k people makes them an island family, I fell in love with the place over 20 years ago.
Excellent interviewers and excellent interviewee. A very diverse set of questions asked and answered openly and honestly. It was nice to hear a politician admit that he doesn't go to church much and not jump on the religious fervour that most do so as not to upset anyone. I have sen him interviewed before and he always come across as a decent bloke.
At ~3:29 he seems to say 'thank you', in Scots Gaelic 😊 my ears perked up!
Thank you for English subtitles.
Just to clarify for you. If you directly translate what he said it is: Já, Takk fyrir það = Yes, thanks for that. FYI Icelandic and most of the scandic languages are derived from Germanic.
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you for posting such an interesting and heart warning interview! President Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson is so gentle and honest in this interview, he seems like a wonderful fellow. I was so surprised to hear he loved Canada! I hope I can visit Iceland some day and try out plokkfiskur!
His wife Eliza is from Canada
In the First step I thought He is greek for iceland an King should Look Like a Viking ❤
What a brilliant interview, well done to the kids, and I really appreciated the open and honest answers from the President. I really hope I can still find a copy of the Krakkaveldi mag when I'm next over late May (tho I do at least have the online access if I can't! 😊)
We can hold onto an issue at the office for you :)
@@TheReykjavikGrapevine Thank you so much! I haven't been to your new offices since you moved so I didn't know if it was possible to drop in for back copies like I used to by Hornið!

¡Me encantó!
Just loved it!!!
I've got two questions: how are social health care services in Iceland?
Where can I learn Icelandic ? Keep in mind that I live in Mexico City!
Great interview, kids!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🪅🪅🪅🪅
Thanks for watching! Most health services are highly subsidized by the government and you can learn Icelandic online in many cases. Some of the local language schools run online courses and there are resources like icelandiconline.com. Gangi þér vel!
Nice interview
I like the president's home, nothing poxy like the west where it's over the top security.
