tropicalscot but back then flying economy you got a proper complimentary hot meal, you could take your own drinks through security if you wanted, seats in economy were a lot more spacious, luggage allowance was more laid back. Now you have to pay for food even on BA and all you get is a sandwich or mini tub of pringles. And if you flew business class back then you got a proper wide seat with loads of space. All you get now is an economy seat at the front with the middle seat unoccupied so it's 2x2 seating in 3x3 format. Last time I went business the woman next to me brought her child and the middle seat ended up occupied, so I ended up just as cramped as if I'd flown economy.
@@DoubleGauss If you Factor in in those days 20 kilos of free checked luggage, and could get away with a few extra,Complimentry Hot Meal and drinks(Including Alcoholic) in the price of a ticket then.Today have to pay extra for those abd for a meal you get a stale sandwich, pay 15 Quid for a food bundle, and 3 Pounds extra for a bottle of water, plus all the extra taxes. So no real diffrence
The stewardess in this is Roz Hanby as mentioned below. She featured in a 1991 40 minutes programme called suburbs in the sky ua-cam.com/video/EUuOvqcFqFU/v-deo.html After flying she became a nurse.

Now one can travel from London to Paris on Flixbus!
Is that the actor who plays Alan Turner in Emmerdale at the beginning of this advert?
Blue Blue Eyes of the Flight Attendant
So it just goes to show that air travel has actually dropped in price over the years..... and yet everyone complains it goes up....
@MetalLaLa It is indeed the chap who plays Alan Turner.
Yes but petrol was 67p not per litre but per gallon . So £45 was expensive
Which is about 15p a litre, one tenth of the current price! I bet we don't EARN ten times more now to compensate lol
£45 in 1980 is equivalent to £205 today (2015).

Had a photo taken with her at a British airways travel promotion.
Ohhh.... So so cute.
An L1011 is a big plane for the short distance from London to Paris, now BA would probably use a small A320
ELPaso1990TX Air France once operated the A380 in the Paris-London route for scheduled services at one spell
No Eurostar in those days
I flew to Paris five days a week and the Tristars were always late because of the 1 hour turnaround in Paris.
Roz Hanby (former BA stewerdess) - some people have already remarked further below
she was so pretty then agin i was only small then lol
When they were still good.
"Only" £45 each return! I'm going next Thursday for £2 (plus £10 debit card charge)

Can anyone tell me the name of the actress/stewardess at 0.43?
@cupcakefairy87 When you live in south of France like me, it's much more bette to fly between France and England.
Can you still get those retro bags anywhere
