I was thinking of supercharging my Mugello Blue 2007 RS4 b7 when I got it at 113k miles and still thinking about it at 156k miles. Did a compression test and all cylinders are within spec except one which was I think at 130. Previous owners never did a carbon clean so Mechanics and I think a piece of carbon fell in and marred a cylinder wall or ring. I'm trying to source a low mileage car now because I can't picture myself daily driving anything else. I just simply love this car.

I’ve been debating supercharging my RS4. It’s probably not the best idea for the sake of longevity in general after hearing about your situation and others that you mentioned.
I’m glad to hear that your part-out was a success!

If you build the engine with upgraded rods and pistons you might get away with some longevity. But the chap would bought my supercharger kit blew his engine within 4 months and it wasn’t a daily driver. £9250 straight down the drain for him. Best case is upgrade to a C6 RS6. If the oil seal has been done they represent great value sub £25k for sure. Handling isn’t as sharp but a reliable 700bhp is difficult to argue with

Thanks for the info, that’s crazy. My car has 76K miles on it. I feel like I’ll have the engine rebuilt with upgrades before it hits 100K and keep it normally aspirated with the goal of driving it well over 200K

@@billm5004 if you don’t supercharge it I doubt you’ll need any modifications. I’ve seen a few standard b7s fly past 200k miles. Regular oil changes and carbon cleans should help keep her running

A very honest video/blog been thinking about this set up for a long time now but the more I read the less I want to do it 😆 plus the price of B7’s are so high right now 🤦🏻‍♂️ I have a supercharged MK4 R32 and that’s been love/hate over the years

I'm at the moment considering a 100k miles supercharged rs4. Found this video and now I'm having second thoughts.

Honest advice would be have a carbon clean and get it thoroughly thoroughly looked at. I got lucky as my supercharger was brand new (warranty replacement) so I made good cash breaking it for parts. If not it can be a very big loss if the engine goes

@@samtalkscars1341 thanks for that input. Currently market for b7 rs4 in USA is climbing and this supercharged one is very tempting at 38.5k usd. I was able to find videos of the car on UA-cam being drag raced along with seller sending videos of it being tested for its launch control.
I think I'm gonna pass on it after looking at your rod bearings. Too much load on those bearings being atmospheric at 8500rpm let alone added with positive pressure I could just imagine...

@@mk3whitewide it’s a shame as they’re a great set up. Mine was never launched or tracked and still detonated. So yes I think you’re right. Wouldn’t want oil in it any longer than 5k either so they need a lot of upkeep to keep them healthy. Is it the APR charger as well? If so they get very hot as well. TTS in the uk are centrifugal so less heat issues

@@samtalkscars1341 I agree with oil changes. Really bothers me that people take the oil changes to 10k miles like audi recommended. I'm more than capable to performing any repairs on that engine but I don't wanna pay 38.5k and still have to buy expensive parts. The one I'm considering is equipped with tvs1900 similar to apr just slightly bigger displacement. Intake charge temp is super tricky to manage on these style of boosting. To make it even worse these aftermarket kits are not equipped to monitor temp so everything is measured with by product.
I do wonder how much better centrifugal version is on a v8. I had centrifugal on my old gti vr6 and it was great up top but not much down low.

@@mk3whitewide water meth helps. Control temps to a point. But if it’s been abused already you’re delaying the inevitable. Difficult choice for sure.
