I accidentaly downladed the 338 BIOS update. I was indignant. The thermals of my device did go up to 95 celsius. After testing some games, I immediately downgraded my BIOS back to 337 via winflash. I was really satisfied with this version, 336 was usable too. This is not a good update, I don't care about noise that are my fans making. My priority is heat, I play mostly plugged in with 30 W performance mode, so this was not an update to me, more like stupid downgrade. You know, they are releasing ROG Ally X, the sooner you melt your old white ROG Ally, the sooner you will buy their new handheld. That's it, I don't trust Asus.
I don't know, but there is no need to adjust custom TDP profile when i'm playing plugged all the time. Temperatures around 72-74 celsius are fine to me. For me personally was this update unnecessary.
I bet 338 is due to the rog ally x, as rog ally x has moved sd card and better thermals, looks like they dont care what happens with the first ROG Ally, the contacts they used on the sd card reader was inferior and thats what failed under heat
The problem may be future update including to Armory crate may require this Bios update installed. So they will force it on users that way. This update was not required and users need to take to the forums and social media to let Asus know this is a BS update and needs to undone ASAP
After warning you guys, getting told I was wrong, and then reading that people were getting higher temperatures *AS I WARNED YOU ALL ABOUT* I am satisfied that I was right all along and can safely say *I TOLD YOU SO!!!* 😂😂😂

I am both on legion go and z1 ex rog ally , primarily use my rog ally (last played sons of the forest 25w on 337 bios) I stay plugged in due to me being at work most the time (I have two gaming PCs at home and many consoles I do not get to use with my work schedule) so these bad boys have been my go to with external monitors that I bring with me just need keyboard and mouse (mini and Bluetooth) with decent gaming compatibility so the games that do not work with controller I can enjoy
less noise is always more heat.. we even use custom fan curves to increase the fan speed ourselves to keep the heat low.. no way i use their lower fan curves. remember when they increased them at first updates? to try to save the sd card????. dont update people unless you need more heat, if you want less noise you can always do it yourself
If people want less noise I suggest an Nintendo switch, the Rog ally is a Power house in a small case so yeah it causes quite a temperature. It can even go up to 90 degrees on their 30 watt mode now I use my aggressive fan cure of 100% at 60 degrees to keep it low.
Not gonna update. They are allowing for MORE heat which is not a good idea. Did they not learn from the fried SD Cards/Reader fiasco? This is not a good idea.

This update only affects the Stock fan curves(and removes the limit for Manual TDP) All it does is decrease the fan speed to reduce noise. If you are running Custom TDP.YOU set the fan speed. So thats why the update isnt affecting you. But there are users who mostly use the Stock TDP profile.This is bad news for them specifically
Il take better temps over fan noise the noise is no issue 50% volume plus dolby atmos you dont think about fans when your emersed in the game just do good fan profile on manual dont be stupid playing at 80c to 90c 😂
I made a mistake updated my bios to 338. I was on youtbe watching videos all of a sudden the Rog Ally froze, couldn't do anything with it. So I did a force shutdown. It rebooted back in bios screen. Try to reboot it, It couldn't find my ssd, so I had to take it out off the ally. Put it my pc reformat it. Put it back into the Rog Ally, Did a could recovery. Bios 337 was ok so I am going back to that.

Had to take out the ssd reformatted in my other pc. Then I put it back in the rog ally. Then I did the cloud recovery. On 337 no problems.
You're streaming a game this is not needing much hardware compared to playing a game installed on the console. So yeah there is no comparison 😅. But well yeah i prefer, my old Bios inhave no problems with my fans being louder. This just means the temperature is not high. I have quite an aggressive fan curve and at 60 degrees it runs at 100% on both 1 and 2. But it hardly ever reaches 60 degress even at 25 watt custom mode. This bios seems to be more optimized for thr New Console comming uo becausebit is supposed to have optinized cooling(Fans). So i for my part won't get this Bios any time soon i have no interest in my console burning down.

I noticed after updating to 338 that there are problems, which is that the device suddenly stops charging for a few seconds and then returns to normal. Is there anyone suffering from this problem?
Temps were very good Chubbs around 75 degrees - admittedly this was only in the couple of hours testing tonight so I'd be very interested to see how you great viewers find the temps after long gaming sessions...

Agree.This was unnecessary and detrimental update.Nobody asked for this.Minor noise reduction for higher device temps!!!

Fans not only cools the apu but also helps remove the heat from the device.
